Seems to be on the up with a new owner and new décor. Craft beers are very nice and my wife likes the range of wines on offer. Friendly bar staff so hope that the pub is able to attract the right crowd. At a recent visit a pedestrian got run over outside the pub and the landlord was straight out there with the first aid kit until the ambulance arrived.

Recently had a refurb and a facelift in a cosy-hipster style. Looks nice, will definitely check it out and hopefully it's another step in Apsley's regeneration.

This was pub number 3 on a quick crawl of Apsley and this was by far the strangest pub of the lot. It has obviously fallen on hard times as the lease is up for rent, there's no real ale on hand pump but there were bottles of Old Speckled Hen available.

There were only 2 other punters in as well as me and my companion and the friendly barman.

Not a bad pub it just feels like someone's front room and was almost empty.

Sorry, but to respond to 'Bonzodog' below you utter cretin.

What exactly is it about hard working builders have a relaxing pint after a long day thats is so offensive to you ?

No doubt its the fact thats its a 'proper pub' and not one of these poxy restaurant/bars.

Speaking as a normal person (and not a stuck up - im better than you type of thing), this pub is not bad at all, nipped in during one lunch and had a nice pint of the black stuff and a chat with the landlord and watched the cricket on the big TV, was nice and relaxing friendly atmosphere, I would have absolutely no problem going back to be honest.

Absolute eyesore. Frequented by builders and council estate trash. I'd happier see it gone. Brings Apsley down into the gutter

Still Hertfordshire's premier gay venue.. but don't be put off if like me you're straight, there's a welcoming atmosphere for all. Particularly good food from the carvery, and service is excellent - totally genuine. Recommend to anyone

Revolting, threatening dump populated by violent morons. Avoid at all costs.
