Popped in for a quick pint on a Wednesday night in late November but was put off by the 'fart' smell near the bar which is usually the sign of uncleaned pipes, so I turned on my heels and promptly left.

Liked this place a lot and ended up being the pub I spent most of the time in. They offer the usual variety of beers and lagers for a decent pub in York and the staff were helpful and chatty. Good sized garden and the pub is partioned into sections giving it a cosy feel even though it is a large pub.

Definitely will be returning.

Pleasant pub with friendly staff and a good pint of Black Sheep.

Pretty quiet for a Friday night when I visited, but still a nice atmosphere.

Popped in as close to Premier Inn where staying on a visit to city, and had several screens showing football. Reasonable pint of Black Sheep Best Bitter, and friendly local crowd and staff.

Liked this place a lot. Despite being very busy on a race day, we got served in no time at all. Lots of different rooms, and several bars.

Beer was good quality, if the range was a little uninspiring ( Ruddles County and Flowers IPA )

good start to a pub crawl from the train station to the racecourse

Really very large place, with multiple little areas and bars. Serves food and there seems to be plenty of seating. However, the real pull of the place is the capacity for groups on pub crawls, good location near station and other bars and plenty of TVs for sports.
Because of these factors can get busy and naff on weekend nights.

Mid 90s was briefly renamed after some Beautiful South album or other.

Conveniently located near the station and Micklegate make this a good place to start a pub crawl.
The place is bright and airy and comes alive when a match is being shown.

Needs a good clean out, especially the pipes !
Popular when Football is on, but has faltered a bit since the replaced the massive drop-down screen with a few plasmas here and there. As a pub it's functional but then so is a visit to the toilet.
