Used to use this place regularly about 15 years ago and it was buzzing with atmosphere then. Sorry but it seems to be buzzing with something entirely different now. The beer was ok but I don't think I'll be heading back anytime soon. Shame had some happy memories of the place years ago

Called in here over New Year. Cracking little local with a nice atmosphere. Good range of ales, all well kept. No food but you can take in your pasty from the shop next door.
Looked like a good music scene happening.
Worth a visit

Good fun pub, friendly staff, good range of beers and reasonable prices. Excellent live music schedule, third visit and same faces but seems like a good group of regulars, also impressed by amount of door supervision / security. Thanks for the music, clean toilets and friendly chat from the bar crew.

Could be a realy nice pub if it decided what wanted to be.

Went back to the Crown & its still has a great homely feeling the staff are friendly and the punters are friendly to. Most were drinkers from the Dolphin but she barred them because they went to the crown when it reopened. Oh dont take notice of the review from Lildolly she is a friend of the landlady from the Dolphin she made up a false review about the Dolphin sying she had only visited it a few times strange that she is a member of the Dolphin ghost team.

This pub is alright,, they do have good live music, reasonably priced lager and a nice naughtical theme going on. but on visiting on a few occasions i was rather concerned for a couple of reasons.
i'm not usually one to complain, but whenever there is live music on, the bands cover the fire exit and put signs up saying no exit, rather than emergency exit only. that's rather worrying as i am not great on my feel and would find it hard to squeeze down the narrow path to other exit at th if there were a fire... and surely this is illegal?
Also, as someone else has mentioned, i don't always feel 'safe' in this pub. there are a few bad apples that don't seem to be controlled which makes me uneasy. maybe it's just me being picky, but surely you should be made to feel safe from harm from both things mentioned? maybe i have just been there on one of their 'off' days. other than these, it is a nice pub with lots of potential.. hopefully with a few small changes it will be a hit.

I first visited the Crown about a month ago & was not very impressed, but i thought i'd give it another chance - what a waste of time. The beer may be cheap and the interior may look good, but to be honest that seems to be the only good thing about it.
Some of the customers they serve are just horrible. Abusive language, thugish behaviour and not a thing is said or done about it. I couldn't sit and have a laugh & relax like in some of the other pubs in town, i just felt on edge the whole time i was in there. I will not be recommending this pub to anyone i know.

Um. Anyone think the Crown is getting a little repetitive? They only ever seem to have the same old bands, every night of the darn week. The name of the band might change but it's still the same people singing the same songs. BORING!!

And I wish they would at least refuse service to SOME of the customers. It's becoming more difficult to overlook the nutcases with bad language and poor hygiene. I think the staff have been brilliant, but I get the impression they're getting moodier.

I was excited about the place when it opened. But I reckon it'll soon enough have same old small town, bickering aggressive drunks habiting the place and its gonna kick off big time, i just hope they turn it round by then.

I totaly agree with minotaur Kevin & the staff at the crown have done a great job. Its a nice friendly pub the reason why alot of Dolphin punters drink there is because the landlady has barred them from the Dolphin for drinking in other pubs.
I will be in the crown again soon having a great time & making new friends well done Kevin

At last Littlehampton has a pub where the owner has actually put his money where his mouth is & taken a big gamble with this pub
Kevin Jenkins has spent a lot of money getting the Crown up & running again, has it worked, the pub is packed every night, you get a decently priced pint & good food at very reasonable prices, I'd say it's been a resounding success. Look at all of the ex Dolphin & Wetherspoon punters who are drinking at the Crown now.
The pub have just produced the first real ale from their micro brewery " The Crown Jewels"
Last Christmas all of the pub regulars were given a free glass with their name etched on it & the Crown have just started to issue their own loyalty card.
And guess what folks, in this pub the owner actually WORKS behind the bar & his wife runs the food side.
One poster said there was'nt much of a pub feeling, well the atmosphere's better than any other pub i've visited in Littlehampton.Have you been in the Cob & Pen lately? they call it the Moon, (no atmosphere, no people) the Dolphin, if you can stand the stench of the candles on a saturday morning, or if you like Elvis Pesley well it's your kind of pub, it is'nt mine.
In my opinion the Crown is a success story, long may it last.

A bit of an odd place boasts a carvery which seems to only be open at the week ends. Beer cheap food o.k. ish nice make over but lacks soul.

Visited on a sunday afternoon. Pleasant nautically-themed interior.
A good selection of real ales (4 on at a time, going through about 20 a month) priced at 1.75-2.40. Service was fine, some of the clientelle on the raucous side of boisterous (cheap beer?). Didn't try the food.

Oh dear. Tried it for the first time recently, as the Wetherspoons was busy. Black Sheep ale was very average and the Betty Stoggs didn't taste much different!

As for the service/food....we waited 45 mins for a couple of bagguttes. The quality was also somewhat dubious, very poor. Well we will not be going back.

Wetherspoons is much better !

It's been 5 years since I was in Littlehampton got a shock 2 of my favourite haunts boarded up remembered The Crown so gave it a go perhaps I'm changing with old age but where's the old pub feeling gone it certainly wasn't there. Drinks weren't a bad price but the food wasn't up to much and the service was slow surprising really as it was wasn't busy.

Not amused !!.. Thought I'd give this pub a go as it's been revamped and under new management (never liked the atmosphere in the old one)... well I shouldn't have bothered !!. Ok so it's all freshly decorated but at what cost there's no atmosphere and they serve food as and when !! Got all dressed up with friends to try it out and was told by sour faced staff "no food tonight". So tried again a week later and after having waited 22 minutes was offered lukewarm food on a cold plate... then got served with the wrong drinks....!! No atmosphere, hardly any customers and staff that couldn't care less, sorry never again this pub is well and truly off my list,,,,,,

Night time people the crown is good for a bit of live music come up and see the power of 3 and the id this weekend. Nice!!!!!!!!!!!
cjkandi - 15 Mar 2007 11:02
With the crown now doing good old home cooked food and snacks there is just no excuse the stay at your desk of a lunch time or to pop out for a bite at the weekend "just think about all the washing up your not doing!" There is also a kids menu and yes this does mean your children are welcome too. the atmosphere is always good in the crown night/day. 10 out of 10 to the crown.
cjkandi - 15 Mar 2007 10:57
Nice one donna looks like you have only gone and done it. this is now a pub with a great atmosphere and good music just what the town needs, and with a new menu on the cards the crown is top off the Littlehampton pub league "in my book anyway", But don`t just take my word, come down and have a look for yourself. LOVE IT
cjkandi - 6 Mar 2007 09:16
Cool pub..!!!! The music here is usually of a very good varied standard, favorites of my friends and I have to be KXB although I was disappointed to see they have changed drummers. Bring back the bald/shaven headed dude - he could play......;0)

since being taken over by a new resident land lady donna this pub seems to be getting better and better. there is always some sort of entertainment on and the service is great. although its still not doing food who knows what she has planned for the future! in my opinion a great pub for a evening drinkie!

Very friendly atmosphere, live music all weekend, friendly staff. No food anymore, but now has a pool table which is enjoyed by most regulars
