once a great edinburgh institution now a pale shadow of its former self

A great pub, great music and atmosphere.

A faded shadow of its former self. Can they cram in any more Guinness promotional tat? Very disappointing.

Liked this pub a lot.Good atmosphere, great music from some of the better bands from years ago(eg Wasted Life-Stiff Little Fingers).stripped down flagstoned bar with a small music venue attached. The 80/- was £2.70 which is slightly above the Edinburgh norm-but its a good pint.worth a visit...

I visited Bannermans on a work trip to Edinburgh and it rocks! By pure coincidence I was there when William Mysterious was playing acoustic and singing on an open mic night - WM being one of my biggest bass playing heroes EVER! Got to shake his hand and tell him that the bass on the Rezillos album is like a train coming through the wall - which it is. Top man. Top bar. Good luck both of you.

Good for bands although gets a little on the hot and swaety side if there's a crowd in, so I'd recommend not wearing a jumper (even in winter!) bit expensive but barstaff friendly especially that big guy, Davey I think his name is.

The best pub by far in edinburgh. live music from up and coming bands 6 nights a week, the BEST bar staff ever (so friendly), comfy couches and a great looking bar. Drinks promos - the best place for a rainy evening!
