Been in a couple of times now. Friendly landlord seems to be putting in a lot of effort to put this back to a decent pub. Three real ales on, the ones I have tried have been pretty good.

This pub has a large l-shaped bar full of fake timbers and set out with loads of tables and chairs. The whole layout suggests a dining/carvery type pub so it's quite surprising they don't seem to serve any food. My impression was that the current owners just aren't trying very hard. This pub is in the current Good Beer Guide. I wouldn't want to condemn it on the strength of a single visit, however when I went in only 2 real ales were on offer, all the other pump clips were reversed. My pint, Adnams Broadside, was barely drinkable. The other customers all seemed to know one another, so perhaps it functions more as a locals venue than a pub catering for visitors and holidaymakers.

Good range of beers, in good nick. Friendly, though real ales are only on in the smaller bar, so can get a bit crowded.

I work in this pub and have done so for the last 9 years. It is a great pub with excellent staff and great customers. There is always a friendly face, both sides of the bar, so coming in alone and feeling uncomfortable is not an issue as is the case in some pubs I have visited. We have 2 big screens (1 in each bar) and a beer garden. We now sell a selection of real ales with guest beers every week and we always welcome all customers, old and new. This isn't an advert, it is a true description of the pub.

A well run pub with friendly staff and management, pleasant atmosphere. Football can be on in both bars on big screens at once, so best avoided when live matches are on if you have no interest or want a quiet drink. No hot food.
