please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

I was surprised to see bouncers on the door here. But it soon became apparent that this was more of a nightclub than a pub. It has a large and open interior with a little seating around the edges. The drinks selection was John Smiths Extra Smooth, Guinness, Strongbow, Strongbow Dark Fruit, Fosters, Carlsberg, Carling, Amstel, Stella Artois & San Miguel. Your choice is dispensed in a plastic glass. In short, don't bother.

Now called The George and it's an awful place....the last reviewer was very spot on mentioning Jeremy Kyle!

1 ale on amongst all the lager's and alcopop deals.

Had 1 pint and returned to the station to get back to civilization...well London at least

Have you ever wondered where Jeremy Kyle finds the 'guests' for his shows? Well now you know! That said, this is a great place to have a pint and be a fly on the wall. one would not want to be seen as a participant thought.

Not sure beer has been kept that well. but so cheep, who is bothered?

This is one place that is so wrong I can recommend it for entertainment value.

A complete dump full of the dregs of Aldershot, not a place to go to if the locals don't know who you are.... any one who wears clean clothes and has had a shower that day is assumed to be undercover "old bill"

This pub is one of the more upmarket pubs in the area great for taking your partner out for a romantic meal or for a quiet drink with the freindly regulars the food is top quality the drinks are well kept and all at a reasonable price one of the cleanest pubs i've ever been in

went here on a whim as I met with a friend in town and decided to go for a chat and a pint, biggest mistake of my life, table was FILTHY with dried on beer and my glass stuck fast to it, asked foreign barstaff girl to wipe table and after getting through the language barrier, she did a poor job and merely wetted the table and made the stickness sludgey. Had to find another table as I was getting stuck to it by resting my arms on it, other table the same, FILTHY.
My friend decided to order a burger, it arrived and he nearly lost his teeth on it as it was rock hard and burnt, I did not bother with food as if the front of house tables are minging what are the ones in the kitchen like?
visited pub in the day and it was dingy with no lighting up one end and stank of rancid stale beer that had soaked into the carpet. Health and safety need to have a poke round here, this was THE WORST PUB I HAVE EVER BEEN IN, and I am nearly 40 and have seen a few dives in my time. Disgusting.

Pool tables seem to attract the more unpleasant sort. Even so worth having a game here if you can.

My friends and I use this pub quite regularly as, being pensioners, we are on a budget. I cannot fault this pub, I actually used it today. The food is excellent, value is second to none. Where else can you get a meal and a pint for less than 4. The staff are polite, and we have never been kept waiting. The customers we have met have always been friendly and polite. The staff do not tolerate any trouble, they actually threw a couple of people out today. I would recommend this pub to anybody. I just wish it was in Farnborough, and not Aldershot. We do not have any pubs of this standard in Farnborough.

Extremely cheap pints of beer here. Most pints under 2.00's

Is there a downside? Well a few people seemed a little on the rough side, but it wasnt exactly intimidating.

cheap cheap cheap ale, but generally pretty busy over he weekends and serves food, a good laugh for a pub to stop into when out and about in town but not a locals session pub

Two real ales on tap, Youngs and Tetleys, both acceptable and cheap. Basic inexpensive pub grub. Seems like a typical high street boozer aimed at a young market.

Real Ale recently introduced...and well kept so far!!
Who can argue with cask Tetleys at 1.35 a pint...also Youngs Ordinary at 1.50 and a Youngs (i think)Christmas Ale at 1.99.
Can be a little rough and ready but staff seem to be making an effort by not accepting any nonsense
Can't really comment on food but appears to be good value.
Most staff friendly enough performing in what can be a fairly high pressure envoironment at times

I had to laugh when I read the review by Anonymous on 27 Jun, the food (or good if you have dyslexia or finger trouble) is worse now than when I moved to Aldershot. My last bloke ended up with a furball of ginger hair in his burger!

prob best thing this pub for is the cheap drinks. its ok to get u started but this pub has no atmosphere... staff really rude too.. u get a lot of the aldershot looneys, alcoholics, oldies and losers in here...
hotinpink - 28 Jul 2007 19:12

Goods good now.

I got drunk for a fiver - and still got a lift home! This place is tops for a young girl on the pull, but watch out for the older jealous types. Just be very careful when you get served! Kx

Things look on the improve. New manager seems to be sorting a few idiots out. Had a good breakfast there

Drab decor, sticky carpets & sticky table tops. Strong smell of stale beer - I know its a pub but it really is grim.

Food is microwaved with no care given to detail or service. I had the soup when I went there (it was heinz tomato so I thought I was on safe ground) Served stone cold with a stale bread roll. 'Al dente' by default.

Seems you need a collection of home made-tattoos, a serious drink problem, industrial strength bleach in your hair and no job or prospects to fit in there.

The sediment' of Aldershot seem to love it - I hated it.

Went here on Saturday as there is so little choice in Aldershot - and really wished I hadn't!
Full of very young and rowdy drinkers. Non-smoking area was full of people smoking!

I don't think its a place worth going for a second visit. . . .
slugbreff - 20 Mar 2006 16:13
you can get drunk for a tenner so thats what everyone does.
fallendragon - 3 Nov 2005 16:09
I had a bad experience here too. Food nothing special and it's either full of squaddies or chavs.
wezmiester - 14 Mar 2005 21:54
