Sadly this lovely rural pub has been CLOSED by McMullens and will be converted to housing.

Brilliant friendly place - helpful staff and chatty locals - big (unworked) beer garden. If I were closer I could see this as a local. 10/10 based on welcome, staff and atmosphere. (last visit 30/10)

I visited last weekend and found a lovely old pub on the interior with a nice banked garden at the back.

Being a Mcmullens pub I had a pint of country which was in good nick but could of being just a bit more chilled.

Apart from that minor gripe, well worth a visit.

New landlord and a lot friendlier than the old one. Really trying with the food, beer questionable, but larger and wine OK.

They don't do food on Monday lunchtimes so we did not stay to check the beer. The landlord was almost apologetic, but not quite.

Sunday lunchtime saw a gaggle of locals drinking in the public bar and mainly visitors chomping away in the lounge bar. Locals had the bar surrounded and were not about to give way to us visibly thirsty 'outsiders' !

Now under new management. Had Sunday lunch there last weekend and it was excellent. Warm welcome and polite attentive service. Lovely food that is beautifully cooked and presented. Will be back. Highly recommended.

Excellent food, had Saturday lunch there last weekend (18/10/08)
Warm welcome from landlord, great beer, small menu but the six of us had 4 different things and all were very good. Not expensive and a very friendly atmosphere. Will be back!

Nice pub with small hallway leading to lounge on the left with dining adjacent or chatty locals bar on the right. Both feel unspoilt and the landlord and landlady seemed perfectly suited to this place. Didn't try the food but ejoyed a couple of pints of well kept real ales.

THE traditional rural village local - AK still good if not excellent, and pub meets all customers needs (except children). Not eaten here for many years but used to be very good indeed.

For a Macs house, this is a great pub with great beer.

Excellent ales pub. In the GBG for many years and twice Herts Pub of the Year and once East Anglian PotY. Beer and atmosphere excellent and a landlord with a sense of humour
