When you go into a 'Spoons you kinda know what you're going to get - a large pub with many seats, vast open spaces inbetween and quite a few nooks and crannies. A large range of beers, many of which you've never heard off. In the daytime it will be fine, at night possibly a little more boisterous. The staff will do their best.
And The Moon And Spoon conforms admirably to the pattern. We stopped here at the end of a long wet walk for a pre - First Great Western breather as we knew what we'd get, and we got it.
People moan about Wetherspoons but when I was young if you saw this many real ales in one place you were either at a beer festival or were having a wonderful dream. I say well done to them, after all, they could just sell lager and froth.

Heh look this is Slough.Nowadays noone travels to Slough for a night out.But if you are unfortunate to find yourself in Slough for a night out, then this pub is about as good as it gets.Beer is cheap and generally ok.It never gets packed as it once did. It's ok though, but not a pub about which you'd rave.

Full of revolting drunkards. The beer is shit and the staff are no better.
Cannot stand the place.

Large Wetherspoons pub at the end of Slough High Street (the opposite end to the Rose & Crown). Paid two visits this week & found both the Landlord & Staff very helpful and friendly. The beers sampled were all well kept and there was a good selection available. There were several beers still waiting to come on but the clips were marked as such.

Busy pub with all walks of life in here. Was warned off one of the beers (and they were still selling it) as it tasted of vinegar. The beer range looked impressive but half of them had 'coming soon'notifications. The beer we had was Ok if a little hazy, however the last 50 mls had a thick haze plus little bits floating around - I left it. The food came within 10 minutes and was cheap filling and wholesome. If only they could get their act together on the beer front....

Not a bad pub although there are a few local characters who might put some people off. Bar staff has improved greatly since I first went in there. The beer is well kept and being Wetherspoons reasonably priced.

Unfortuniantly the Moon and Spoon is the best you are going to get if you want a good choice of adult drinks in a non-music setting.
Beer and burgers are good, and worth getting rather than BK Macdonalds, or the local dodgy kebab. Its a bit drab inside, and full of old alcoholic men, but they are harmless. The smoke has cleared up as well due to a stricter policy.
My main problem with the pub is the staff, which walk around depressed and a bit blunt when spoken to.

On nights other than fri/sat quite quiet. It's a bit impersonal and in the comfy seats feels like sitting in a "world of leather" showroom, but who cases with Guiness at less than £ 1.50 a pint on a Monday night. A good place to go if your on a tight budget and want to drink a bit, or a place to meet friends before going on somwhere else.

Nice and cheap food and good beer, full of Slough characters and scallywags.

Typical moons pub with cheap beer and cheap (substandard food) - Drinks are fine but the staff are some of the worst and rudest i have ever come across anywhere!!!

Another 'Moon' pub - but surrounded as it is with the other pubs in Slough, it's not too bad. Always has the 'real Ale' thing going, good cheap food, plenty of seating, and a family area at the back. The few things going against it, is the usual Slough clientele, a rough but usually quiet lot - and the lack of staff behind the bar on busy evenings - you can take an age to get served. I'm a regular visitor by the fact of being within walking distance, and the good real ales on offer, esp. when they have a festival going.
