Quite a classy pub which we visited as part of the Henley Ale Trail. Beer was fine, and we got talking to a couple who were originally from Wakefield. They advised us to go to Marlow and check out Tom Kerridge's pub/eatery, which we did and were not disappointed.

On the Berkshire side of the river, as you would expect from affluent Henley a well presented pub with an accent on food but a pub none-the-less and the 'drinking' side of the pub is on the left as you go in with a nice warm fire in the corner, we got a friendly welcome from the staff. Two fairly uninspiring real ales kept in reasonable nick.

Charming pub by snow bound river Thames. Two beer on; Braks Bitter & Oxford Gold, the former was fine - could have been better but I think it was the Latte I had 10 minutes earlier.

Went here yesterday as part of the "Brakspears Henley Ale Trail" The Pub itself was empty at Lunchtime but the rear Patio was quite busy with people soaking up the July Sunshine. Nice Pints of Brakspears Bitter and Oxford Gold, but was one of dearer pints I found in the area. I used this Pub many years ago when it has a warm friendly evening atmoshere albeit full of Hooray Henry types that looked down there nose when you walked into "their" pub. Now the pub has been Gutted and extended and has a large Conservatory on the side. Most of the seating has been turned over to dining and there are Varnished floors everywhere. I am sure that this pub is still a great place to eat of an evening but is more of a Resturant/Gastro Pub than the place was in days gone by. Would not bother to go back if I did not need to get the Ale Trail Stamp.

Stay away from the steaks! The worse I have ever had (confirmed by my partner who also had steak). Burnt on the outside, raw in the middle and unchewable!
The service was extremely slow, we got the impression they were waiting for the place to fill up before even getting started. Another of our company had fish and that was OK, luckily or the occasion would have been a write-off. I would have sent the food back but didn't want to spoilt the meet-up atmosphere (quick meal with friends en route to somewhere else), but I wouldn't go there again unless it was just for a drink.

A nice old building on the outside, with the inside having been done out in a very 'modern ambient' feel.

Two ales on (Brakspears Bitter and Hobgoblin) which are usually OK without being particularly inspiring.

It's OK but I struggle to find much affinity for the place. I wouldn't want to stay for longer than a pint.

This is probably the most snobby and obnoxious pub I've ever been to. The management's attitude to children is appalling, expecting them to sit in silence. And if they don't, you can be sure that the very rude landlord will be on you straight away to complain. Some of the other patrons also seem to have that attitude as well, turning their snobby noses up in the air if a child makes any sound beyond a whisper. This is a very children intolerant place, no kids menu, and no attempt at making families with young children welcome. They cocked up our food order, and were very unhelpful in rectifying it ... leaving our children waiting a very long time for their food, and then the landlord complains to US when your child starts to whinge a little that they are hungry. Henley is a lovely place that I visit many times, and have taken clients to this pub before for business lunches or after work drinks. The rest of the staff in the pub are really nice, but that's not enough to ever make me think of going their again with either my family, friends or business clients. Worst pub I've ever experienced and I've been to a few!

Really nice pub. Interesting decor. Lovely food and idyllic setting, even on a blowy March afternoon with a 1 year old daughter to control. Need high chairs I think!

Recently reopened with most charming new owner, Douglas Green...a former London restaurateur. Fab menus and people. We had an unforgettable Christmas Dinner.

All I can say is GO TO THE LITTLE ANGEL PUB, they have done an awesome job on it, it's completely different & I'd highly recommend it in every way - about time we had a pub like this!

Went into the pub last Friday night. The decor might not have changed yet but I tell you the feel has. It's got a bit of a soul now! Playing great music, not so much of restaurant now as a place to eat (different food but very good), drink or simply meet friends. I like it already but apparently after the Regatta it's closing down until September for a complete refurbishment.....let's wait and see but the new Govenor is a switched fella and a nice one at that.

I agree with the above comments but I hear on the grapevine that The Little Angel has now been taken over by a great guy and is getting a complete makeover at the end of the summer - apparently it will be the place to go? Look forward to it - anyone else know anything about this?

Just at the end of Remenham Hill before you enter Henley On Thames over the river is The Little Angel. A lovely old building set down off the road with a large car park. Currently, doesn't seem to have any identity, it is neither a pub nor a restaurant but I gather that soon (let's hope it's soon) a new landlord will move in and change the face of the pub into something fantastic. I say watch this space, in the meantime, I'll keep going to pubs that don't quite have it yet.
