Take a banjo, if you play the theme to Deliverance the locals dance round you in a circle worshiping you as the druid god Dagda the Good and bestow necklaces made from beer mats upon you.

Seems like a family-owned kind of pub. Possibly a bit of a locals' local but welcoming to strangers.
If you have the courage to drink the Courage Best you will find it's the best! Why, though, do pubs have this habit of playing music over the TV so you don't know what people on TV are saying? If you get creative then this can be very entertaining but not the idea of watching TV. Could have subtitles at least

The first place you see for a drink on your way out of Alton station. It is totally understandable that you may get this place confused with the Railway Arms as they are very much alike in where they are located. However, rather like the last comment decided on the Courage Best.
Alright for sitting and watching TV, but not that exciting really

Came in here by mistake looking for the Railway Arms. Courage Best was acceptable, but the locals put that scene in mind where Michael Caine pulls up in that boozer near the start of Get Carter.

the last refuge of the banned.
