Not one of the best Islington bars, which is why it was turned into a Spanish restaurant some 4 years ago.. Therefore it would be nice if the site Admin ever got round to cleaning all this rubbish off that they actually update this one and show it as closed

Bar 98 closed a while back - which was no sad loss - and is now a Spanish restaurant.

This place has changed a few times over the years but never for the better, really. It's too shiny and mirrored now, it wants desperately to be a Hoxton wine bar but it just doesn't fit in on Church St. It's expensive and so rarely busy, it's only saving grace is its 2am licence, but at weekends there's better places to be in Stoke Newington.

Went in here on a first date recently on a Tuesday night ... not your usual venue I admit but it was the date's choice. Had a couple of pints and although it wasn't busy seemed okay. Though reading the comment from the previous visitor maybe the usual clientele wouldn't appreciate gay first dates happening on a regular basis!

ermm.. Pints of wife beater are served to a gang of button down collar shirted geezers who watch as the bemused residents of Stoke Newington hurry by on their way to the Defoe. It's so out of place it's hilarious

Did the owners visit Stoke Newington before they plonked this souless Croydon poke hole on Church Street. Obviously not

Lifeless place that would do better in Islington. Food used to be good but the whole place has gone downhill so fast I haven't been back for a long time.

Does what it says on the tin. Pulling joint with expensive drinks. One good point - it's so small that you might get to rub up against some totty even if you don't get to pull any.....

Very poor. OK decor and initial impression but the cocktail lounge staff seemed startled by orders for actual cocktails; taking an age to get it together. Same story with food - fine when it arrived but at those prices you expect it to be stunning and on your table in less than the hour it took ours to turn up.

Genial waiting staff but such an overall lack of competent customer service that I can't imagine they will get much repeat custom. Owner managed I understand.

I am disgusted that the people who opened this souless bar thought it would do well in stoke newington. So devoid of atmosphere they had to install two (2??) TV screens in the poky downstairs bar - big brother was playing when I went there...what more can I say.

Probably the best toilets in Stokey! Apart from that it does feel like you are in the west end but the prices reflect that. Nice to take a first date.

Hated it! Belongs in Angel or Shoreditch. The sort of place that serves strong lager in those tall straight glasses to shirt-clad blokes on the pull.

Plus the worst cocktail I've had in a very long time.

Wine bar, very nice looking place, no real ales, but good food.
