please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

According to my OH, Wyndham's comment about the toilets can't be true, as it seems the old cinema was completely demolished (not adapted) and a DIY store erected before we got the buildings which are currently there.

This pub is now closed. Lidl are expanding and have taken over the site.

hey. this place is now CLOSED and yes the rumors were true, lidl will be extending its store to were the jd weatherspoons pub use to be, its a shame its closed because of the prices but it really was a SH*T place to drink in, lets hope the people that drink in here dont move to the new weatherspoons in raynes park or the brilliant ganleys in morden, dont get me wrong there were many nice regulars in this pub but there were also the not so nice ones!! RIP WEATHERSPOONS MORDEN!

This pub was put on the market some time ago and it obviously did not attract a serious buyer. Surely it's not big enough for a Lidl store?

It's an appalling place with very limited no-smoking area. The gents toilets are situated up 2 very long flights of stairs. This must go back to the days when this was the Odeon cinema and the loos served the circle customers. I understand that Hillary and Tensing Sherpa used these stairs for training purposes prior to their conquering Everest! I definitely would not visit again.

Should have closed long ago but if rumours are true that LIDL are buying it then the sign on the front door, "Chavs, Drunks and the Unemployable Only - Dogs Welcome", should still remain...

Apparently LIDL are moving in, or so I've heard

Used to be a good hideout for me and all my sas mates wink wink nudge nudge the pub has some great survailance areas to view all the mitcham shemale chavs when they are looking for your dole money to get a bit of scram from iceland for the dick ear chavies. A geezer by the name of chelsea mick makes himself well known to all, as you walk in the door and he hangs out with a little p**shead geezer with milk bottle glasses. great comedy duo or so they think.

Depressing and dirty but far less dangerous than the Tooting and Balham atrocities.

Weatherspoons pubs won't be around in 5 years. Drinks are cheap but I had a pint of guiness here that moved and tasted like a jug of weak gravy. The food was cold are very poor quality - and portions are getting smaller and smaller at every JDW pub. Most pub prices are way too high but the only salvation is that it keeps away the dregs of society who are attracted to JDWs like flies to shit. This place was no exception though not as bad as the king of all JDW shitholes JJ Moons in Tooting. Cheap is only good if it comes with quality. A smoky, smelly, depressing, dirty turd of a pub. Chavtastic!

Full of nutters, pimps, stellaheads, thugs and strange folk.

4 meals,4 glasses of wine,1 pint of John Smiths and a double vodka and lemonade for 20. You can't beat it. OK so the clientele look like they come out of that pub in "American Werewolf in London" but they're pretty harmless!

I have been visiting this pub almost once a week with my 16 year old daughter. We would eat in the designated dining area, and she would drink mineral water. A month ago, I was told that under 18s were not allowed, even if they didn't consume alcohol. We were asked to leave. My question is, 'Why were we not told this on the many other occasions we had visited?'. Food is OK, bar staff miserable, landlord has no customer skills and the toilets smell, but the food and drink are cheap.

smells badly but apart from that a good pub 2nd best in morden after ganleys

Well, what can I say....if you like a drink during the day and you're happy to have it in a hospital A&E ambience, this is for you....smokey, nasty, threatening....and a clientele bandaged, braced and well, very odd....if you have seen The League of Gentleman and liked it, you won't be disappointed here Tubbs, cos it's all local....

It is a good pub and it is also a spoons and I always drink in spoons and They are cheep and this pub have got great customers go there it ranges from 18yrs to 100yrs

Never that great but there was always an interesting collection of characters both behind and in front of the bar and decent beer at decent prices.

Now it's really gone downhill. It's dirty and unwelcoming. The killer thing now is that since the driftwood from Jack Stamps (Now the excellent Ganleys) have been barred, they are now using this place and boy does it show. God knows how even worse The Abbott will now get.

The last 3 comments perfectly sum up Wetherspoons pubs. I have not been to this particular pub but they could be describing any of the one's I HAVE actually been to in Northwood, Pinner, Potters Bar, Harrow, Basingstoke, the list goes on. The food is awful, the bar staff are ALWAYS rude and for some reason, these pubs always seem to be full of pensioners buying their 4.45 (or whatever) fish and chips

The service is terrible, but I find that at most Weatherspoon pubs. The food is always cold, the bar staff don't give a toss about anything, and there really are too many old people in there, its like being in hospital.

On my last visit myself and others were apalled at the lack of service and customer care afforded to us here. On one night food was advertised to be served until 9.30. I arrived at 8.45pm and was served, but my two companions who arrived at 9pm were refused even though it was still advertised all over the pub. When I asked the so-called manager why this was the case I was given a rather flippant response that it was "company policy" to continue to advertise that services were available even though they had ceased. He offered no apology for this, occasioning my two friends to buy fish & chips from outside the pub & secretly eat them inside! With regards to Briony's comment of 03/12/02 I am 37 years of age and have no problems sharing a pub with 70, 80 or 90 year olds. What I do object to is impolite unhelpful staff (and management) as if ordinary customers are a "nuisance".
