A pub I have used now and then as daughter lives opposite.Has had a bit of a bad reputation over the years. On my latest visit over weekend, have to say much improved.Good service, beer and the food with its large helpings excellent. Was a busy pub back in the 70s and 80s.Use to have good carvery there.Worth a visit if in area.

Our friends recommended this pub again since the refurb so we thought we'd give it another go.

We went in Mothers day quite late in the afternoon and our experience was terrible. The so called 'amazing' food my friends had on an earlier visit was no where to be seen! Our meals were edible but definately not to pub standards.

We won't be going back.

Now called The Morden Brook, definitely an improvement and they now also do Poker on a Sunday night courtesy of The Poker Tree.

WHAT A DIVE THEY CAN POKE THEIR CUSTOM IN FUTURE RIGHT UP THEIR ARSE. SHITHOLE...

change of landlord again, so decided to try again, still no better, is emptier now than before and the landlady that barred 200 is back! no atmosphere and food not so good, didn't have several bits that were on menu. still worth avoiding and probably always will be!

I used to work there as a barman back in the early 60s when it was one of the the best pubs in the area.
It was a good, honest pub with three bars catering for everyone..The Public Bar (tables and wooden chairs and benches), the Saloon (tables, padde chairs and bebches) and the Lounge which was a bit posher all round. A few pennies dearer as you went up the social scale but never expensive.
Mind you, we did have an attempted armed robbery at the detached Off License and a few con men trying the 1/10 note trick but that was par for the course back then (it was the Kray era, after all).
I don't think I'll got back as memories are alway better than the present.

Pass this place every day, was going to pop in and give it a go. As I came round the roundabout I saw a Chavbag McDougal pissing against the outside of the pub. Whats the inside like if the patrons would rather go toilet on the outside of the pub in full view of a busy road?? Decided to give it a miss!

under new management again!!!!!
friendly atmosphere, all the bar staff very friendly good to see some one is doing a better job than the old managers
food is good due to brilliant chefs
prices very reasonable
the place needs a slight refurb but who can complain when your coming in the pub and getting service like this al in all i would recommend the beverley to anyone so go on and enjoy yourselfs

I pulled up outside after work for a pint, and the doors opened with a fight spilling into the car park (at 5pm!). Drove off and never gone back

I know the people who live near by (lower Morden lane and Cardinal Ave chavs You KNOW who your are) drink here, but this is a pit! Last time we eat the my wife has sausage and mash, only they were out of mash, so they served sausage and gravy and gave a "free" side order of chips. The chips floated in the gravy!
Chavs are the best customers here, the chav mums from the school up the road flock here once they have picked the kids up and drink untill they are smashed!
Real life shameless!

I cannot speak too "lowly" about this hovel - I refrain from calling it a pub. Best place for this building and 90% of the regulars would be in the cemetry across the road. But consider the "permanent inhabitants" - let them rest in peace. I endorse surreyblueboy's comment - "Chavs in their natural environment". The petrol station across the road has closed. Please allow the Beverley to follow suit and boost the whole area.
Dear readers, you don't believe Kaktus. Visit the Beverley one evening. You may agree with my comments upon leaving hopital three weeks later. So don't enter this place unless you are a very seriously depraved chav. Even the picture misleads as green algae pouring from the gutter has defaced the frontage.

This was a really nice pub a year or so ago, with friendly staff and good service, but I suspect the management might have changed because our visit there yesterday for lunch left a lot to be desired. It's quite a large pub, often used for post-funeral wakes as it's close to the cemetery, but it was fairly quiet yesterday. Only two young female staff in the bar, and they had to serve at the bar, serve food and clear tables. I waited 15 minutes just to order food at the bar. They really weren't coping well and one of them was wandering around in a dream, she twice tried to deliver our food to the wrong table.

The menu is quite extensive and very reasonably priced, but we had to wait 45 minutes for our food. No apology when it did arrive, and of the three meals we had one of them (chilli con carne) was lukewarm, had a skin on top and two large chunks out of the dish; a second meal had cold chips and undercooked peas; the third was OK. We sent the chilli back and it did arrive in a new unbroken dish, without the skin on top and hot, but there was no apology at all.

The place seemed to have gone downhill since I was last there, which was only a few months ago. It looked tatty, with out of date posters. The staff looked pretty miserable and were hardly welcoming, but I did feel rather sorry for them beacuse there's no way two junior staff can run a pub that size on their own, even when it's not very busy. Unlikely to go there again.
wine_lover - 25 Jul 2008 15:58
Hmmm not much change from the last comment, offered a 'wrap' for 60 or a broken arm, no charge. No broadside, not going back.
cask_king - 20 May 2008 23:04
Good pub if you fancy watching Chavs in their natural habitat.....Fighting & doing 'coke'.
Stay well clear!
Surreyblueboy - 12 Dec 2007 10:36
This place is an absolute dump - actually no i'll start again, the staff and landlady make this place an absolute dump. You'd think if any of the staff behind the bar would smile it'd crack their faces! Takes so long to get served in there and the rudeness of the staff when you do actually get served is unbelievable. Still, plenty of other places to go thank god - she may have barred over 200 scumbags but what has she done? Put them the other side of the bar??
MateyGirl - 9 Jan 2007 13:41
Funny enough the abbot has changed too, so get your comments right before posting them. But in breeds can always be kept out by strong management and from what i've seen both pubs now have that. Along with the new pub watch that has started up in Morden. Say goodbye to the days of pubs being run by the punters.
The_Cleaner - 11 Oct 2006 17:47
Lets get a bit of perspective here!! Just read in local free rag The Post that the new landlady has barred over 200 scumbags from the pub. Anonymous - 9 Mar you are quoted in the paper as weel. Gypo Pubs in Morden are a scream long may they live on. The Beverley is in danger of being removed from the Pikey Pantheon occupied by The Crown, The Abbott and Morden Tavern. Do not fear though, a new generation of in-breeds will start moving in before you know it
anonymous - 12 Sep 2006 14:59
Ok people, lets get a bit of perspective here, The Beverly has been a hole for years, granted, BUT this has changed, the new landlady is doing her best to raise the profile of the pub and get rid of the idiots that used to frequent the place and cause trouble. Me and my other half and mates have been down there on many occasions for a quiet drink and a meal, I have to say the food is very good value, the bar staff are all very friendly as is the landlady, we've not seen any trouble in there, and i'm sure if there was any it would be nipped in the bud rapidly ! As a 'local' pub it does just the job, people should give the place a chance under the new management, they are doing their best so support them instead of just running the place down !!
anonymous - 20 Jul 2006 11:12
I thought I was common until walking into the Beverley.
Suddenly I felt like David Niven.
All the staff look like they've been smacked around the face and all of the regulars (male and female) look the type to do the slapping.
It takes forever to get served, there's no obvious landlord and if it's who I think it is he doesn't seem to care less.
Still, better than it used to be, but then so's the Tory Party and they're still rubbish.
anonymous - 9 Mar 2006 14:43
They have done it up, cant believe it still a hole!!
kevnbev - 16 Jan 2006 15:44
Meant to be a family pub. I took my ex & her 2 kids in there, last xmas eve, after walking down lower morden lane to see the xmas lights. People were doing coke in the toilets! Wont be going there again in a hurry!
gold76 - 3 Nov 2005 14:40
The worst ever!! Service appaling by staff who would rather be elsewhere. The manager doesn't care if you get served or not, the local scooter chavs are added value watching the girls fight outside after too many WKD!! Place being refurbed at the moment, just hope they get new staff and new customers in. God, I've depressed myself just thinking about the fleepit!!
anonymous - 24 Oct 2005 22:45
rough, full of chavs, but if you like a good kebab after your night out i reccomend the kebab shob near the garage next to the cafe
anonymous - 17 May 2005 21:16
This is a "curry nite" type pub but has a certain rough and ready charm. Builders noisily hold court at the bar, the garden is pleasant but swarming with shouting children and sov-encrusted women grazing on alcopops. I was menaced once there for reading a broadsheet on a saturday afternoon. That being said, it does serve a decent pint of stella, I found service friendly and fine and its good to watch the match there. Providing you're English. And white. And like a bit of a shout.
Tosca - 11 Aug 2004 08:30
Must be the worst service in South London. Staffed mostly by incompetant Antipodeans.
