In here last Saturday and about half a dozen others present.
Another pub that has changed to the worst in my oppinion.
Loud piped music is playing and 2 TV's have the England v Sri Lanka cricket on.
They have 8 hand pulls split 5/3 on each end of the bar but 4 are blank.
2 have London Pride and 1 ESB with the guest ale York Brewey Guzzler.

Have visited this pub on numerous occasions and have always had a brilliant time! Always a warm welcome from the excellent staff with top notch beers.
The food is really good value for money, cooked fresh and very tasty. Never rushed , nothing is too much trouble and the host is always on hand .
Many occasions my colleagues and I have visited this pub on a Friday evening for a few drinks but have stayed closing time! The bands that play here are amazing and can play pretty much anything they are asked. You will not find a friendlier, more genuine pub.

I had a lovely meal here, the carvery is the best in Isleworth. However this was spoilt by screaming children, oblivious parents at one point the buggy tipped over and they continued drinking their large glasses of wine , dirty tables and not enough staff on.

popped in for a quick pint on way home from work...once again smelly dog sat on bar...not what you expect to find. Beer good...atmosphere poor. wont be coming back

Oh Dear. I expected this pub to have turned around since my last visit... The minute I walked in I could smell damp and stale beer. Dog running loose around the bar. I went to the toilet, no toilet paper. Took one look at the bar and walked back out again. Shame.

Pub that is fast going downhill. Used to drink and eat here on a regular basis, now tend to use the other pubs in the area. Bad atmosphere and a dog perched on the bar whilst food is being served.... not for me im afraid

A quite local pub to me and one i have used on and off for a few years. The pub seems to be in free fall and decline since Tara and Andrew left a couple of years ago. on a visit in December 2011 for an xmas party i thought i had seen it all, high price's, a dog on the bar ,and cold food we had to send back, and that was just for starters. With everywhere full on new years eve we poped in for a pint to see not very good band, which was very loud and some mindless
violence. The only plus was the beer was still good.

Sunday lunch was good although the service left a lot to be desired and the tables were full of dirty crockery.
Pride was good but expensive and there was an awful smell near the mens toilets next to the food area which is not what you want as you eat lunch and we will not be going back.

Very disappointing! The rooms were clean and comfortable but the food service was awful. The evening meal orders took an age to be served and were muddled, the soup was burning hot and some of the main meal was cold. There was no breakfast system in place but the cleaner kindly provided us with tired looking cornflakes, a loaf of bread to make our own toast and a kettle to make tea. I raised my concerns and was informed by the staff on duty that it was a pub so what did I expect! A little more service or they should advertise room only.

odd one this, its the sort of pub i should dislike, but some how, i like it.

good value sunday lunch carvery.

and of course, being fullers, good beer

One of the joys of going on pub crawls in unfamiliar territory is that you discover pubs like this. It's Fullers so that imposes some constraints but the beer (Discovery) was delicious and the wi-fi was helpful. Lovely atmosphere inside that made it feel like your local even on a first visit. Cute.

stayed for 4 nights at the swan inn recently. we had a great time here. very friendly staff quiz nite and great music on the friday night. Food here is excellent. Our room was lovely, and the food served was excellent. There was a lovely guinness pie served here during our stay and it was only divine.i would highly recommend this pub to anyone. Also great location for anyone going to twickenham for the rugby. Dean made us feel very welcome and got to know a few of the locals during our stay too. Will be returning to THE SWAN INN in the near future.

we enjoyed a meal in the swan the other week but had to eat with our coats on as the place was freezing even though the fire was on there was no heat coming from it unless you were sitting on top of it .
This pub looks all modern fresh and clean looking but it lacks a welcoming atmosphere and no local feel about it .
bring back the pool table and bantering bar staff

mortisha - 27 Mar 2010 14:17
Serves a very good pint of Pride but there is something lacking about the place that is difficult to pinpoint. I think the tables in the main bar area are arranged very poorly and it is difficult to find somewhere you would like to sit even when there are only about 4 people in the place. Lack of any curtains means the large windows give you the impression you are sitting in a large goldfish bowl with the eyes of the world upon you.

Looks superb from the outside so was somewhat disappointed to find a somewhat bland though modern interior. Main room seemed largely given over to televised rugby on our visit. As it wasn't an England match this seemed to be of little interest to all but a handful of Antipodean customers, slightly frustrating when the sound and big screen set-up tends to dominate the room. Beer acceptable if forgettable Fullers fare.

I had lunch last week at the Swan with my friends and the food was FAB!!! I had Risotto with seafood (all cooked perfectly), my husband had kangaroo steak with mash (soooo tender), our friend had a burger (really kangaroo), and our other friend had the lasagna (loaded with meat). It was al wonderful and freshly cooked by the chef. We ate in the garden which in compact but fits 8 tables comfortably. The insicde of the pub is clean and tidy and the staff are really friendly. I can no recommendThe Swan enough !!!!!

A Fullers pub serving the usual range plus Gales HSB (now also owned by Fullers). Clearly a locals' pub unlike the destination pubs on the river, its interior works against it - purple walls and the whole opened out into one nearly-unbroken space (there is a vestige of its former division into two bars). To look like the ghost of a gastropub and at the same time want to attract locals who are better appealed to by warm and cosy surroundings - booths, as Strongers pointed out in an earlier comment - is not the wisest course and may yet force another change to what sounds like it was once a quirkier pub. The food was reasonable and the barstaff charming. I would hope it works out what it wants to be though.

went to my daughters wedding at the swan staff were very friendly all night and the food was the best ive tasted for a long time
johnern - 16 Feb 2009 15:15
I found the governor to be very polite and there were 3 real ales on including Pride and ESB. The usual selection of lager was also available along with a gastro type menu.

Its a big pub with an island bar in the middle although the pub is in sections around the bar rather than being one big room. The beer garden has a covered section and although it is quite small it is well maintained and very cosy.

It is a little sterile in here for my liking, but I may return if in the area and feeling a bit peckish.
Strongers - 30 Sep 2008 16:35
The food is very good and they do a great Sunday roast. Clean place, polite staff and a very nice garden out back....
WillowUK - 29 Aug 2008 11:13
I'm a regular on a Tuesday night for the pub quiz, which can have as many as 16 teams. Good beer and food, if a little pricey. Pleasant smoking area in back garden.
OldSlap - 13 Jul 2008 16:53
This place has got SO much better since changing hands/being refurbed. The staff actually seem to care now, and the food is really rather good for an Isleworth pub. Very busy on Sundays, needs more visitors on a weekday lunchtime I'd say - we don't want to lose it!
flummery - 1 May 2008 17:48
This pub has been in new hands for about 18 months and any comment before that time really needs disregarding. It,s clean, bright and well managed. Has developed a deserved good reputation for food so can get quite busy but it is still caters well for those who just want a drinkers bar and shows a lot of sport without ever allowing it to take over. Great quiz on a Tuesday night which gets very busy with its cash, meals and drinks prizes.definately rates a visit in its own right or as a stop off on a Isleworth riverfront pub-crawl.

Heard there is a Beer Festival going on 28th, 29th and 30th with BBQ and Jazz on Saturday night.

I also loved the steak burger, the service and the staff. They even did us a burger as a take out for our useless, late mate who rang us to order food for him but didn't make it in time before we had to move on.

Didn't think much of the cavernous, empty atmosphere - it's a refit that wasn't thought out well. The pub is simply too big with too few customers. Bring in some modern "snob screens" or partitions to create some booths and the atmosphere will be more intimate. My pub interior design services are available .... consider this a free consultation.

Ate at The Swan last week. Apart from the pub being very modern and quite sterile inside, the homemade food was absolutely delicious! We had the homemade steak burger and the vegetarian lasagne. both were huge portions, the lasagne coming with a side salad and chive mash, made with real potatoes and fresh chives. The burger was to die for.

The Honey Dew beer was fresh and very tasty, not overly gassy and well chilled. The manager remembered us from the weekend, when he didn't even serve us. The sign of a good manager is remembering your customers.

Would definitely recommend. Just heading there now, to try the Sunday carvery!

A rather drastic contemporary style refurbishment has sadly seen the assorted paraphernalia and knick knacks removed and new tenants installed. I dont like the new bland and characterless interior, ( stripped floorboards etc ), but, to give credit to the new owners, the beer price has not gone up and the availability of food has increased. Staff seem friendly and enthusiastic - probably because they're eager to make good first impressions, but I'm a swirly carpets and wood pannelling type of pub person and I'm afraid this place is not my cup of tea at all now.
See you in The Castle ?

Please, Please, what seemed like a lovely pub from the outside but no,no,no,Looks like,s a gift box, very. Food isnt anything to wite home about.......

Went out on Saturday and discovered the swan newly decorated with new manager. The interior is lovely and the menu is superb. It is just the kind of pub that is needed in old isleworth. I can definately recommend the salmon fishcakes!
andrewdhaliwal - 6 Jun 2006 16:56
We visited this pub yesterday evening and were horrified, what seemed like a lovely pub from the interior turned into a pub from hell as we entered the 'pub garden'. It was a lovely evening so decided to sit outside, but what could anly be described as a dog toiled awaited us, not only was the garden (yard) covered in dog **** but as we were drinking the pub dog came over and had a double toilet stop infront of us!! We quickly left at this point. Do not visit this pub, they deserve to be out of business, no where that sells food and calls it's self a family pub should have these standards.
vixenvix - 13 May 2006 10:24
I agree with Ginger Prince. Customers after work hours a little surly to say the least. Food isnt anything to wite home about. Mother knows best!

The Swan has an interesting interior, but has a decent jukebox and pool table, as long as you go in there when it is quiet. Also, the phrase "I bought it from a man in the pub" comes into play as there are some wares offered for sale that possibly were relieved of their previous owners without their knowledge..
TheGP - 9 Aug 2004 16:20
Caught between the delightful view from the Wharf and the red bricked mundanity of the Castle, the Swan has decided the best way to make it's mark in Old Isleworth is to hang clowns from the ceiling. 'Models of' you understand, not real living clowns, that would be cruel. Star spangled wall paper and a miscellany of old countryside paraphernalia are thrown into the mix for good measure. But this is very much a traditional boozer you understand. Pool table, darts, football on the television and a pretty decent duke box to boot. Certainly worth a visit if you are in the area.
Good for: Sunday drinking for sure.
