This pub is now called the PLOUGH!! Just to make matters worse, it's owned by Greene King. Therefore, the usual GK offerings are at the bar. Yet another sterile pub with little or no atmosphere. Getting out of the car park is the equivalent of taking your life in your own hands. The pub is situated on a blind bend. Needless to say, I wont be back.

Building is lovely from the outside but all over the place inside with a ridiculous trek to get to the very nice beer garden. Female member of staff tried to over charge us and was quite rude when corrected. Distinct lack of knowledge of thier over priced Ales and didn't know what CAMRA was! The ales were average Greene King fare. Things must have changed since "oddbod" visited.

Zero child friendly - and be assured the children in our group were well behaved and were accompanied by 4 adults. However, the staff obviously only tolerate children if they're chained and gagged. The worst coffee I, my mother and my brother have ever had the misfortune to taste (and we've drunk a lot of coffee!). The building is really lovely but is shabby inside and out. The menu is pages long which, in hindsight, together with the cafe latte consisting of instant coffee, 90% water and 10% milk, should have sent us running for the hills. Ultimately it was the rude and unfriendly bar staff that proved to be the final straw. Grim!

If you are in this area its probably a better bet than the Chestnut Horse - very good level of service, a little cheaper and nice food - agree that Ale is pricey though!

Just visited the Trout, stayed for 5 terrific days. The Innkeepers, Norma, Max, Phil and Margaret could not have made our stay any better. Lots of conversation and laughs! The best was the food, Max is an excellent chef. My favorite was the chicken-a-la-king. If you are interested in a friendly, warm night out the Trout is where you want to be! Oh yes, there is the beer.

3:35 for a pint of Olde Trip. an absolute disgrace. How they can justify that is beyond me. The reason I paid was I had already taken a mouthful when the girl returned from the till and only then told me the price.

We interrupted a Sunday walk to try this pub for the first time. Ordered drinks at the bar, collected a table number and menus then sat in the garden area. Received table service (very unusual!) and tasty meals, though my wife felt her portion of fish was a tad small. Staff were excellent. Limited selection of draught beer. Bar, restaurant area and Toilets all with good decor and clean . Garden a little noisy as it's right beside the local B-road (mainly cars, very little commercial traffic). One to try again.

Both bar and restaurant areas. Food served in both. Good range of food and fast service. Very reasonably priced. Book the restaurant in advance because it can get busy.

Food was 2 for 1 which was great value and very good. Good kids play area. Staff very welcoming and friendly. One to go back to.

Great service, arranged a family meeting here, the staff were great with the vagueness of booking numbers, happy and helpful during the changes and on the day with yet more changes. Children played in the garden, adults made a lot of noise inside and out, the staff were unfailingly cheerful, the food was great. A definite return is on the books.

I've only been to this pub twice in the last two years and every time I promise myself I'll come back soon.

The food is very good. smoking and non-smoking sections are at opposite ends of the building and seperated by the bar.

The staff are very friendly and the landlord more than welcoming.

It was a quiet Tuesday night when we last went. My wife ordered off-menu and the chef even came out to chat about her order and suggest a minor alteration. He was very friendly and gave the impression that he just wanted to make sure we had the best dining experience (there was no hint that my wife's order was anything but a pleasure to prepare).

We were very impressed with the food. There's a reasonable selection of wines and the beers mentioned in a previos post.

Ample parking and some lovely walks to be had in the area.

Food not bad, but expensive by local standards.

Country village pub with accommodation, plenty of parking. Range of ales, including Speckled Hen and County, well cared-for. Good range of food, well cooked and well presented.
