can some one please enlighten me on who this horrible little woman is please ???????

I think that I know the strange little woman that Driver mentioned in an earlier post and if it IS the same person, they have split up now! I went in here on the off-chance that it had improved, but no .... Low ceilings and bad atmosphere. Ugh.

Have been coming here for about 6 years but won't be any longer - the management changed about 9 months ago & the new landlord/landlady duo that run the pub are just rude! I asked for a little bit more mixer in my drink & they refused saying that the mixer were done by exact measures & if I wanted a dash more I'd have to pay for another measure. I thought this was a little strange, but when I said I just wanted a bit more cos you've put so much lime in it, it they basically told me if I didn't like it I could f**k off. (He didn't exactly use that language, but may have well have done to reflect how angry he was getting with me). Also have enjoyed the past 4 xmas eves there, but the one just gone (oh coincidence, under the new management) was dire.

Much better now under passionate ownership, good food from my experiences, nice mixture of trendy / bohemian / older crowd. full of banter and friendly staff,

Now looking much fresher after re-opening following redecoration - you can see the colours in the carpet! Still good value and friendly staff, a nice place for a summer afternoon drink.

this pub used to be the best pub in bromley....

The Swan and Mitre is great, the staff are always friendly, there is never any trouble, and the atmosphere is great. There are no chav's in there either so its number one.

I paid a visit to The Swan And Mitre about four months ago after hearing that it had more of an alternative feel to the more modern bars in the area. I wasn’t in here for too long, but in all honesty, I wasn’t THAT impressed. My beer was served completely warm and I found the pub to be a little uncomfortable. Part of the reason I didn’t stay long was because I just couldn’t settle. It took an absolute age to get served too. Not bad, but I don’t know if I’d visit again when next in the area.

One of the pubs I feel more comfortable in in Bromley. More laid back clientele and some decent ales. Only been in here a handful of times, but and nearly always felt at home there, although back in the days when I drank stella I did find it to be very potent! Might just have been me though! Only downer was the toilets, but that's a minor qualm in what I've found to be one of the nicer pubs in Bromley.

This pub does exactly what it says on the tin. Music usually very good, bar staff are the best team in Bromley due to their excellent relationship and low turnover. The bar is clean, the toilets less so. The garden isn't the most attractive, but has a great chatty atmosphere due to the sharing of benches.

Absolutely never any trouble, only the occasional chav, whom the staff are happy to chuck out. Great drinks prices. The manager is probably the only let down as he's rude and spends most of his life upstairs sulking, whilst his team carry the responsibility of running the pub.

Rock night is sadly dead, but the music selection from the customers ensures that it partly lives on. Customers are mixed, but mainly a blend of rock/indie type young and old with working professionals from nearby offices.

It's probably the only honest drinking "pub" in Bromley town centre now.

The landlord is a bit moody he keeps barring people. He should otherwise concentrate on sorting out the toilets...

Great pub, has been my local for about 7 years. Wide range of drinks & really friendly staff espically Roger who has gone travelling I think. Great music & strictly NO underage chav's. But full of to many Cosmos/Avro people which I tend to avoid.

Definately the best pub in Bromley! The service is excellent, drinks are cheap and the food is great! Always a good atmosphere and 98% of the people are friendly. Not sure what I'd do without it?

Rock Night on Tuesdays does seem to feature a wide range of Rock styles. The best thing is to get your requests in early or buy the DJs drinks ;-)
Friendly atmosphere and smiley bar staff. Good range of shots and spirits.

Definitely the best pub in Bromley as it lacks the Pikey Burberry wearers that seem to multiply week after week in the rest of town. With friendly staff, good food and cheap drinks Sunday to Thursday you can't go wrong with spending the night here. When Summer calls it also has a large beer garden which draws large less friendly crowds as well as the regulars.

They have a rock night on Tuesdays. I went along expecting to hear some Led Zeppelin or Black Sabbath but it was more modern so called rock, disappointing. The staff were very slow and i didn't feel very welcome. I have drunk in worse places but i wouldn't go out of my way to visit this pub again.

What has happened here the staff appear to be asleep moste of the time an it is full of the teenie element not for the mature drinker.

One of the only pubs in Bromley i would drink in.

Used to be a quiet little pub, till the Firkin shut and all the kids started to go there. Now its
Gets very busy on a Friday and Saturday, so if you have a spare half an hour you can wait at the bar to be sereved, by the bar staff who have trouble seeing people, right in front of them wanting to buy a drink.
That said, it is one of the only pubs in Bromley I would suggest anyone to visit, unless they wanted to look a the missing links of evolution in place like the Bell and the Weatherspoons.
marcus - 17 Jan 2004 17:05
Bromley's attempt at an "alternative" pub although you'll probably only notice on Thursdays, which are the busiest nights. It's a little on the small side and can get very smoky but there's always a good atmosphere and a nice line in barmaids. It's a Burberry and Townie-free zone, which should automatically qualify it as the best pub in Bromley...
