user reviews of the Lot, Richmond

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Probably the best pub I've ever been to, bar none. The most friendly staff you'll ever meet, a jukebox which is awesome (Although it needs an update) and very cheap for Richmond. Always a good atmosphere. Would very much recommend (and I have) to anyone.
lovedoc - 8 Jun 2015 13:35
Recently under new management and seems to be doing well for it! Friendly staff and manager! Great value food and booze with cheap promotions on both. Generally a younger crowd but very pleasant. Great night at the weekend, juke box, pool tables etc. Well worth a visit if you want a value for money night out! 😃🍻
J.Jay - 25 Oct 2014 14:49
Always had the impression that this pub was a student bar, but visited recently and was very impressed. It may be a little on the dark side but it has different offers on every night (including £1.50 on selected drinks on a Wednesday). The food was extremely good considering the price.

It has two pool tables(cant think of anywhere else in richmond that has one), two big screens which show sky sports and a juke box.

The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful and weren't afraid to have a laugh and joke with us, which makes a nice change.

Overall it's a nice, friendly and cheap pub in an expensive town
lanky - 24 May 2013 14:36
A nice pub to visit, friendly staff, and very cheep. Plus there food is such good value for money i am amazed that more people don't eat here, you can get the same meal next door in the duke at twice the price!!!
They show sport on two big screens and have Sky so it is a very good place to go watch the footie.

I went here recently on a Sunday and was very impressed by the changes that have been made. It is under new management and they have worked hard to improve the interior. It looks a lot lighter inside than on my last visit. The drinks are very cheap and so is the food. I had a huge plate of fish and chips for around a fiver and that is very reasonable for Richmond. The sofas are very comfy and the staff were friendly and made me welcome. The pool tables are very popular and the atmosphere overall was good. It probably appeals mostly to under 30's but there were some older folks there too so I was in good company. Well worth a visit!
ilovemydog - 15 Apr 2011 21:13
A fantastic little pub tucked away down Duke Street. I once used to frequent this place when it was a Scream pub, and it was popular with students as the booze was cheap and it had a jukebox. It was good mostly for those reasons, but still a bit grotty.
However, since i've returned this year, the management has changed, and the improvement to the whole place has been astonishing! Not only are the prices still low, but the atmosphere is better, the service is great, and the place is a lot cleaner and more pleasant to be in since its redecoration. The staff are friendly and professional, although not afraid to have a laugh with you, and the 'pub grub' is suprisingly good as it is so cheap.
A great place relax in when most of the other pubs have sports on, as The Lot does show most games, but not on the Sky channels, so the noisy sweaty footy oafs head elsewhere. There are two pool tables, a jukebox and some quiz machines to keep you entertained, and a load of comfy sofas. More of a lager pub than ale, but for the ridiculously low prices they charge, you can't really knock it!
Still a predominantly late teens/twenties presence on Friday and Saturday nights, but still a good laugh and a great place to start your night out. Each time I have visited The Lot this year I have left with a spring in my step, a smile on my face and still enough change for the train home! I shall definately return.
CPSnyder - 13 Apr 2011 12:05
Since they got rid of Sky Sports, which was the only reason most people came here, this place has become fairly quiet other than weekend nights. Cheap booze and food if you are a poor student, and they do all the nasty jellys, shots and alcopops that the kiddies like. They also have a couple of pool tables and a quizzer, although the tables are badly positioned in terms of elbow room, and they don't allow winner stays on.

Friday and Saturday nights are strictly for the under 25s. Gets absolutely rammed and the staff are not the brightest buttons in the box, so getting served becomes a bit of a random scrum. Also another place with ridiculously aggressive bouncers - last time I tried to get in the guy demanded to see my age id (I'm nearly 40).

I know that Sky is expensive, but this was one of the the few places round here that had Sky and allowed under 21s in, so probably not the smartest decision commercially to lose all that business.
dingdangdo - 4 Mar 2011 08:47
This pub has just been taken over by a new manager. It is definately on the up... a lot cleaner, a lot brighter and a lot friendlier. The beer and food selection is pretty basic but definately good value for money... especially around Richmond. Students can actually afford a decent night out. I would definately recommend a good, cheap night out at The Lot!
Lunalily - 27 May 2010 17:00
Probably best to leave this place to the youngsters. However if you find yourself in need of a cheap pint and burger during the week, stroll it to The Lot!
TheoCC - 4 Mar 2010 21:35
Avoid like the plague unless you are either...
1. Skint (the beer is very cheap)
2. You like the company of very noisy, drunk students
Stoned_Moses - 6 Feb 2010 16:31
All the barmaids in here have the fattest tits! That reason alone, along with the odd bit of footer, cheap drinks and comfy sofas are a good reason to pop in.

More a student union than a pub, but strangely endearing all the same
whoagigi - 2 Dec 2008 13:59
When I lived in Richmond and wanted to watch sport during the day I'd generally go here. Mainly because every where else would be packed and you always knew you'd get a seat here. The food is cheap and cheerful the quality is not good but suits the price they charge for it so you can't really complain. If your ucky enough to have a yellow card the beer is very cheap especially for Richmond if not it's probably still the cheapest pub around, though again the quality is not great.
The staff are friendly enough, some more than others, though I've yet to see the new manageress so can't comment there.
The last thing I'd say was that I would NEVER and I repeat NEVER go in their on a weekend night. I felt as if I was about 10 years older than the majority of the people in there and I'm 27. Generally full of 16-17 year old getting smashed off 3 pints. Having said that when I was their age I also used to go to pubs and getted smashed so can't really complain. However it was a similar place and anyone older avoided it like the plague. Same goes.
theoneandonlyjoe - 17 Apr 2008 13:59
Much better now that it has such a damn sexy manageress! Mmmmm...
yourhardkorehero - 19 Mar 2008 16:22
I can not beleive the appauling state of the Lot the floor is flithly, the paint chipped and the toilets are disgusting! i have never been to such a awful place full of very drunk youngsters and staff who were rude and slow
sundayschild - 25 Oct 2007 00:42
Who's the new chav guy behind the bar? Bad taste in BLING if you ask me.
drusilla - 8 Apr 2007 00:34
Popped in here for a quick pint while girlfriend shopping. If you remember the banana splits, champion the wonder horse or Tiswas you are about 30 years too old for this place. Beer average but cheaper than most in richmond.
the_surrey_beer_nomad - 2 Mar 2007 07:15
So whens this place closing then?
drusilla - 4 Feb 2007 14:14
What are you talking about. True the toiltes leave alot to be desired but the bulbs have been changed and when they dim them the place is actually really cool and provides great atmosphere. Especially since the fabulous new manager has turfed out all the chavs it's actaully a nice place to go again. The beer no longer smells and the place looks cleaner, Jess during the day is a sweetie and Mo's quiz on a Monday is the best. I haven't seen any of the staff smoking they seem really friendly. Worth checking out if you haven't paid a visit for a while.
camp - 25 Dec 2006 18:26
Sadly this bar has really gone down hill both since Penny left and even more so since the new landlord took over.
The bar is now in a constant state of darkness, both due to the low light settings, and due to lightbulbs not being changed.
The staff are even worse than ever, walking around smoking, ignoring customers.
Just not a fun place to be anymore, the whole atmosphere has been sapped out. Shame
drusilla - 17 Nov 2006 19:23
New Landlord appears to have banished the chav scum to a greater or lesser extent. Hurrah! Now if only they'd do something about showing matches in their entirety.

Watched the rugby a few weeks back and just as the second match started, they switched to the football score show, nice one(!) You know, the one where a bunch of ex footballers sit there while scores scroll across the screen...
anonymous - 6 Nov 2006 12:06
just what u expect of any scream pub, crap staff (mostly) crap food, made with love eh Mr. Anon, theres definately something spunky about the burgers that is true. beer is good, it tastes better because its cheap if that makes any sense. but for some reason everytime i go here i just dont seem to fit in!!?? but then we have a game of pool and relax, afterall that is what a pubs about.
therealmonkeyman - 24 Sep 2006 01:47
This place has potential...and probably is the only place for young people to have a drink in richmond... But still isn`t that great- me and my friends never feel like we can fit in here
Hayley_B - 20 Aug 2006 15:12
one of my regular pubs when i'm out with my mates. brilliant for a cheap, quiet drink while playing a few games of pool! has to be said though that its too hot in there! sort that out and i'll be able to bare being there for a bit longer!
Nialljm - 30 May 2006 00:29
Crap food? Come on, it's made with love - taste doesn't matter.

Go to the Lot. It's an excellent pub you won't find a copy of any where else in the world.
anonymous - 21 May 2006 04:25
Good for a few pints during the day before it fills up with the Uni kids. Foods crap, but cheap. Used to be an alright place when it first opened but has gone downhill since.
Merlot - 31 Mar 2006 19:04
it's the best place in Richmond to go and watch the football with a few mates - get there early and bag a sofa by the doors - it's quieter there, and you can have a big screen all to yourselves

nowt wrong with place at all, despite comments to the contrary from some

zorbathegeek - 31 Mar 2006 04:12
Good to see a nice bit of banter in some of the comments below. This place is kind of a guilty pleasure for me and some of my mates. I'm not 18 and my eyes aren't wide-eyed and innocent and I don't still use words like 'revision', 'lessons' and 'what's a hangover?' so I probably don't fit the target punter picture for The Lot. However, I really like coming here at the end of a night out. All the clientel are very easy on the eye, the prices (if not the beer selection) are alright and the staff (including the bouncers even) are pretty friendly. The video jukebox/giant screen is fun and I've ploughed a fortune into the addictive quiz machines. The toilets have locking doors that go down to the floor too which is a bonus. It feels like a student union because ostensibly thats what it is I guess, but unions are fun and that's exactly what The Lot is too. A word of warning though: if someone called Ruby offers you a head massage while you're here, whatever you do DON'T ACCEPT IT!
chopperbomb - 14 Feb 2006 21:22
I worked here when it first opened and it wasn't bad then. Lots of us american students throwing cash about, but it was fun and laid back. From what I've read on here though, sounds like its gotten a bad reputation. Sad.
melovewaynerooney - 27 Jan 2006 23:37
Two bouncers on the door outside put you off going in there at all...

Once you are in there it's like the Harvard bar in the movie "Good Will Hunting", filled with pretentious students and guys who beg for sex... I was half-expecting a Michael Bolton clone to approach me and my friends quoting about the pre-revolutionary utopia and capitalist mobilisation.

I could live with being surrounded by pretty young girls, but the lot in The Lot are just too ignorant and naive.
CheekyShepherd - 25 Jan 2006 12:28
Do they sell beer here?! Full of young people drinking young people's drinks. Fine if you want to oggle the young girls but don't pretend that you've gone there for the drink.
Matthew_of_Ham - 15 Dec 2005 19:59
So, "thismortalcoil" isn't a pseudonym???? Loser.

It is full of 18-20 year olds, but that's Scream's target market isn't it.....
anonymous - 17 Sep 2005 13:56
As hot as a furnace in there these days. Enquired why and was told at 10K the air conditioning was too expensive for the management to fix.

At least all the kids in there wont catch cold
sharpe - 13 Sep 2005 14:26
Aaah ! At last a cresh in Richmond !!!!
anonymous - 3 Aug 2005 13:23
I forgot to mention that it was far better in the mid 90's as a Firkin.
mike2004 - 31 Jul 2005 14:57
Friendly service, but this is a pub for kids (like all Scream pubs). Stuffy as hell inside and playing really load "rawk" on the video-jukebox. I always try a shy away from pubs that advertise the drink prices like a Petrol Station advertises its petrol prices.
mike2004 - 31 Jul 2005 14:56
I have only been in this pub a few times, but everytime it has been really good! The people there are really friendly and the custumers are all people around my age, so I didnt feel constanlty left out or anything. It is quite hard to get a place to sit down if you arrive too late, but once you get a seat...bring on the drinks! x
alki - 25 Jul 2005 12:34
Went in this pub and had to leave after quaffing a drink very very quickly due to the heat.. Ever heard of Aircon guys??!
TheGP - 10 Jul 2005 20:10
potter mate been a while how is life thourght id say gday and wonder how life is treating hope the pub is well and your runninng the show and they have maintained the level of fit birds we employed speak soon champ take it easy
aussiejames - 10 Jun 2005 02:36
Jon I agree with, but Robbie. Come on...

Good pub. Great staff (shame they all seem to be leaving... but I suppose at least Potter is a constant).
LittleBitch - 29 Apr 2005 16:51
if you cant see the beauty in jon and robbie then there is a problwm :). will pass your comments on to louis when i see her
lanky - 26 Apr 2005 12:45
Finally.... 30/04/05

Finally I'll be back in Richmond to visit my favourite pub! Glad to hear all the good things being written about the gaff!
yourhardkorehero - 19 Apr 2005 13:00
As someone who has worked and drank at The Lot, I can say it is nothing but remarkble that this place still stands. The way this pub was run as a Scream under its first manager was dubious at best but it has been turned around by the current lady in charge. It has had it fair share of problems but now is a relaxed, student-oriented venue that can be enjoyed by anyone under 35. Add to that the sports coverage of nearly any sport you ask for and the yummy food, what else could you want? If you want to spend your time amongst the usual Richmond idiots or are hunting for some of the finest real ale you really are looking for it in the wrong place. But if you are looking for fun and and a really great place for you and your mates to enjoy a few drinks on any night of the week, try the Lot. Also a big thumbs up to all the staff who work harder than all the customers give them credit for.
sharkattack - 15 Apr 2005 18:05
'The doorstaff are the real beauties??' think you got issues 'lanky' ;-)

Top pub thou - great for the sport and a game of pool. And Lois is definitely the fittest lass on earth.

Oh and to the lad complaining about the England game - the pub got closed cos some idiots start throwing pint glasses at people. Doubt you'd be complaing if it was you who'd been hit in the melon.
lifeinalongcoat.com - 12 Apr 2005 14:29
I don't know anywhere else in the area where you can get a pint for 1.85.
ThisMortalCoil - 24 Mar 2005 20:25
too expenisve.... lively but the best thing in their is the it box!
Camrur - 24 Mar 2005 18:28
THis is a fun bright pub with a good atmosphere. The bar staff are generally friendly too. After having a bad experience with my usual Yellow card pub I have started drinking here more.
Kristin the bar maid is allways very helpfull and after ordering only 2 drinks she now knows exactly what we all drink which is a nice touch.

Nick
nickdfc - 8 Mar 2005 13:38
Yes mate. This was the Flicker and Firkin. Quite a nice set-up now in comparison, but you really couldn't beat the dark debauchery of the Flika. Really!
yourhardkorehero - 11 Feb 2005 15:31
Does anyone know if this used to be the Firkin?
amumd - 10 Feb 2005 16:33
Threw everyone out at half time during the england - france game in the summer, what were they expecting after going 1-0 up a polite round of applause?
For doing this at half time they want shooting!
sharpe - 9 Feb 2005 16:05
yes stuart is gorgeous but your missing out, the real beauties are the bouncers. this is my local pub and probably the best in richmond for chilling with mates, still sort out the music on a saturday otherwise the arms will be our point of call on a saturday from now on.

see u all in there at some point and yes i am pennys favourite !!!!
lanky - 4 Feb 2005 14:47
the man behind the bar is gorgeous...the scottish one!
LemoLady - 2 Feb 2005 19:13
All those timberlake wannabes best get out of The Lot sharpish! I'm coming home and this is one of my first ports of call! Finally....

....18 January 2005...
yourhardkorehero - 10 Jan 2005 10:51
AKA the creche. You get the impression that everybody in the pub on both sides of the bar have just come from the same school sixth form. As such its always hard to get a drink because the bar staff are always chatting with their mates (not to mention the groups of American students buying 5 individual cokes and paying on their visas).

Annnoyingly no winner stays on for the pool tables, so be prepared to wait for the baseball cap wearing eminem wannabies with 20 coins on the table.
lsd - 31 Dec 2004 11:24
Hey Simon thanks for telling everyone who enters this site about the very cool 4 player Xbox which is free for all the customers to play on! I wouldn't have known about it otherwise. What a good idea it was to place it on this fantastic website. Can't wait to play it when I get all this pissing sand out of my boots!
yourhardkorehero - 12 Nov 2004 05:45
We now have a 4 player Xbox for our customers to play on, new games every month.

anonymous - 24 Aug 2004 01:24
This pubs pretty cool and easy going. Like the music mostly, but can't find my yellow card and feel lost without it. Does a guy called alan still work at the bar there. He was a cutie. good pub, cheap drinks and arty students.
anonymous - 4 Aug 2004 22:01
To the Loyal Group of Friends. I'll buy you all a drink when you are next in and I'm back from abroad. That'll be sometime next week. Say Friday, let's make it tuesday if the pound a drink is still on. Finally...

yourhardkorehero - 21 Jul 2004 16:30
Welcome to Richmonds local Youth Club!
James - 2 Jul 2004 13:51
Hey this pub is awesome!
Anyone feels at home here!
Really pretty barmaids.
Dedicated staff.
Kind a responsible clientel.
Offers you wouldn't believe!
Rocking music on VJB.
Even late night if it's your 21st.

Rock and Roll
Dave E-P (HKH) - 7 May 2004 16:17
It's all changed - a whole lot better than before and good fun - great quiz night too
Lex - 20 Apr 2004 18:26
Hell, I'm happy, the staff are great (even if one of them is a New England Patriots fan..), The munchkins are being kept out, the jukebox is great (Especially since they don't put any more RnB cack on it) and it's not as pricey as other racketeering establishments in town...

Pen is doing an ace job and it's the best the pub's been running since it opened.

Huge love to those Lovely Lot Ladies in alpahbetical order (Fi, Kristin, Lois, Lucy, Maddie, Maiken, Pen)

And a manly slap on the back to the guys PMSL :-)
Go_Panthers! - 7 Apr 2004 17:28
This pub was great on saturday night. Me and my welsh mates ended up here after the england game, and although the staff were a bit pushed(could have used a few more i think) they put on a great night. Good music from the jukebox, big screens, pool tables. Will be back for sure next year!!
anonymous - 23 Mar 2004 02:03
This pub is probably the best in Richmond to watch a game of footy on a Sunday afternoon.

At other times it's loud but surprisingly laid-back; I wouldn't expect many fights here, unlike O'Neill's, Edward's etc.

Modern decoration, more of a bar than a pub. Does what it does well.
zorbathegeek - 5 Mar 2004 00:56
I never said jimmy that a pub is "just a pub", and I'm insulted at the suggestion. I said a pub is a pub meaning that at least it's not a wine bar, or at the very worst... an All. Bar. One. A pub is a pub is meant in the best possible way, and then I went on to say that each one has it's own atmosphere. There is no 'floor' my monkey friend. Taxi for Jimbo, he's quite drunk. I thank you.
yourhardkorehero - 25 Feb 2004 13:53
Check my original post on the 27th November and you will find I was the first to admit that as a 'Yellow Card' pub one had to expect it to be filled with students, and as such one had no grounds for complaint if he or she decided to go and didn't like it. Anyway, you've made your point, although there is one fatal floor to your argument. A Pub is never "just a pub", and if it was the very existance of this site would be instantly negated. That is possibly why some people have chosen to take issue with your fervored pitch.
James - 23 Feb 2004 16:40
James, Jimmy, Jimbo. One can deduce that from reading your thread that your a monkey. If you do look over my past comment (re:31JAN04) you will see that I have a problem with bad mouthing of pubs. The comments that I criticise are not constructive or give a clear description of the Lot. Example. Another Jim comment 27JAN04, you will see that he calls a friend of mine a fruit machine, when she is in fact a fantastic bar maid. Our friend Si seems to believe that the Lot is meant for dwarves, however it has the highest ceiling of any pub in Richmond. The bad comments aimed at this pub are ill concieved and frankly crap. If there is anything to say then either say you don't like it or that you love it. The fact that students go in the is a no-brainer, it is a student pub! Your comment in fact was very poor. I abhor alcopops, am 21 and I freely admit to 'obsess' over Fiona because she is lovely. I do drink 'real ale', but then again I do drink almost anything and everything. And jimmy a pub is a pub, it sells beer. Each one has a different atmosphere, and if your old eyes find the bright lights in the Lot a little too much, then ask them to turn them down. Rites of passage? I'll leave your passage well alone thanks jimmy.
yourhardkorehero - 21 Feb 2004 17:14
To 'Yourhardkorehero' (?!) - surely the whole point of this site is so people of varying tastes can post messages about what they think about a variety of pubs so other members can then in turn get an idea as to what pubs in which areas best suit their taste. For example, from reading this particuar thread one can deduce that if you like real ale then this is not the place for you. If however you are an inarticulate, alcopop swigging pock marked burk with a penchant for obsessing over girls called Fiona, you'll love it! Don't worry, you'll soon grow out of it. You never know, you may even find yourself going to pubs where the average age is higher than 19. Call it a rites of passage if you will?
James - 20 Feb 2004 10:18
This place is great. Whoever this Dave is must have masterful taste. 10 out of 10!

John - 1 Feb 2004 13:04
Fiona's no fruit machine but the most lovely barmaid in Richmond. So the Lot is not to everyone's taste that's furry muff, but why should so many people want to slag off those they don't know. This goes out to those who love the Lot and those who don't. Fair enough and bunch of scallies and garys do go drinkin in there and, on occasion, start making some noise. But they're no harm to anyone. I've worked there, and drunk there for ages, and now that I can't go there on a regular basis saddens me. It's a great pub. With the best staff. With the best prices. And even if it didn't have that I'd still go, because I'm loyal to my local pub. I don't go around bad mouthing random pubs in Richmond. I don't give a monkeys about having my name up here. This is my local, this is where I'll have my first pint when I get back from abroad. This is where all those stupid looking Justin Timberlake looki-likies go, and I'm going to be there so I can laugh at them, on a dark green comfy sofa, with a pint of Carlsberg and a chicken scream burger with egg, mushrooms, bbq sauce and extra bacon. Long live the Lot. (see you soon Si Potter...BONG!)
yourhardkorehero - 31 Jan 2004 17:22
This is a good place for.........NOTHING!

Pool tables too small, staff are rubbbish, not so much a pub, but a student bar or if you are a Dwarf
Si - 28 Jan 2004 10:42
The Lot rocks, if you don't like it then just don't go! There is a reason why they don't do real ales. Thats because this is not some grotty old working mans club! This is The Lot and its the best pub in Richmond. Fiona is amazing! The staff there are top class in all respects and are without equal, anywhere in Richmond and almost certainly anywhere in London. Especially Fiona, who is more then enough to make to want to rub your thighs at the very sound of her name! Go to The Lot for good value drinks, three pool tables, a music video jukebox, a crowd of 18-24 year olds and a fantastic time! Ah Fiona the fair, Irelands finest export! Stay away if these things don't appeal to you! The Lot does what it does best and it is the best at what it does and I pity the fool who thinks otherwise! Fiona, I love you!
Fiona's #1 Fan - [email protected] - 23 Jan 2004 01:35
I went there with Matt on a pub crawl in Richmond last week. YUK.
There are better pubs around much better!
(It doesnt do real ale...I like eral ale)
Jim - 22 Jan 2004 19:33
The lot is one of the best bars going. And i aggree with the comment earlier, the staff are great and do a tremendous job in creating an atmosphere. Simon and Stu rule, me and my friends always feel better when we get chatting with them, so friendly. Pound a drink is back, aswell after the christmas break, cant wait. To any of the staff reading this, your all great we love you! xxx

Great place to go and drink. Can be a bit expensive though in comparrison to other pubs.
Ted - 23 Dec 2003 20:31
tuesday nights are great...more discounts!
pk - 16 Dec 2003 16:54
The Lot is Fantastic. It does exactly what it sets out to do...provide a modern, well decorated, exciting pub, for 18-24 yr olds! I love it there! Fiona, the pretty young lass from Ireland is a fantastic barmaid, a stunning little minx and great friend to all who know her! The food at The Lot is fantastic, with a wide variety of types in huge portions, at student prices! There's a "music video" duke box and two pool tables (find me another pub in Richmond that has at least one!) and free internet connection! The staff are fantastic (and Fiona is fit, there's no getting away from it, you definitely would!) There are a wide range of cocktails and shooters and the atmosphere is always great. I would like to take this chance to congratulate the staff. When you are marketing to a 18-24 yr old public, it makes that life of the staff that much harder with IDing! The Lot has always been very good at this and the staff often don't get enough credit for the fantastic job they do! Fiona by the way is absolutely gorgeous! To those who are disappointed that the crowd are young, the music is loud, the interior colourful and the drinks cheap, please don't try and change our pub, go somewhere else and be happy! PS Fiona, I love you! x
The Lot is Great! - [email protected] - 10 Dec 2003 23:14
Good lively pub, however can sometimes feel like the oldest person there (and im only 22!)Decor is cool but it can sometimes make you feel like your trapped inside a bag of skittles!

Used to be a Firkin pub and it was losing it big time. After the much needed transformation things were looking up, that is until 'the kids' found out about it. But hey, it's one of those student yellow card places so what are you all moaning about. Just let them get on with it and go someplace else like me.
Good for: students of course.
thenationofjames - 27 Nov 2003 16:41
what a great pub!!!!!.............................................it would be, if only the pool tables werent designed for 8 year olds (although this accurately reflects the age of most of the clientel), if the staff learnt how to smile and pour beer properly, and if it had an ounce of character or ambience. probably best visited if you are pissed off and lookin for a suitable punchbag
rodders - 22 Oct 2003 16:53
The pub version of an alcopop. Everyone in there looks (benefit of the doubt time) that they are there to celebrate their 18th birthday. Is simply an arena for teenage drinking, mating and sometimes fighting. Cheap drinks are suited to those still on pocket money (and just in case pub has a discount card scheme).

To conclude, too much testosterone, alcoholism and biactol at the same time.

Pete the man, sorry you didn't enjoy your visit to the lot. Personally it is one of the best bars in richmond, great staff, great looking girls, and a good fun atmosphere.
regular - 16 Aug 2003 15:59
went there with my girlfriend when i went to visit her. Absolutely crap. rude boys all over the place and pretty boys
pete the man - 13 Aug 2003 19:21
I thought this page was here so people could talk about the pub rather than for people to spout absolute stark raving bollocks.

If BITE are stopping idiots posting crap, then good on 'em.

Watch out, ruby is patrolling! Don't put anymore irrelavent messages on this site or they will be taken off! Yes, even if they're funny, interesting, relavent to the pub or a good story, BITE will see fit to take them off the site, and in doing so, deny the freedom of speech and the forum of discussion that this site is surly ment to promote! No matter how hilarious or interesting your message is, don't put it here, cos it'll just be taken down! Thanks BITE!

Quite a fun place, with Hoegaarden on tap. Huge screens and speakers blast out current pop favourites, normally quite an annoyance under the circumstances, but quite fun considering I was in the mood for current pop favourites when I went.
Large sofas and plenty of space.
Also a very good quiz machine with the Weakest Link and Cluedo, which took most of my money.

Now, finally, all youse Mo Fo's are going to understand the meaning of this Hardkore Hero. All of the most excellent are going to work the bar harder than b4 (HA!) and all of the most decent are going to respect this bar for the pub that it truly is. Please... no. there is no please ... youse disrespect this establishment you disrespect Your Hardkore Hero. Give your names if you will, run your mouth all you please to the RHM, know that good times have been had and will be had for a very long time to come at the Lot. And there ain't anybody else that's going to tell you otherwise!
The Hardkore Hero - 21 Jul 2003 22:48

The 1 per pint night are great fun....if you light to fight and pick up teen slags.
1 pint -Slagshagger - 18 Jul 2003 16:16
I am quite sure your RBM would not approve of the language used by the staff who left comments here. I'll just have to ask. apart from that the pub is not too bad.
anonymous - 13 Jul 2003 15:53
The Lot rocks! Simon and Alex are excellent barmen! It's not full of kids, the drinks are cheap, the food is great and Jenny was great! If anyone out there doesn't like it; fine! i'm sure you'll be much happier at another local pub called the richmond arms! Long live The Lot!
anonymous - 3 Jul 2003 11:17
Can someone please take just a few minutes to tell me why Jen left, what she's doing now, and what's happening at the lot at the moment please. Jen was a great boss and i'm very upset to hear that she's decided to leave! Is Helmy LHM now? If so, can someone tell him "hello" from me! If not, who is incharge? Alex, if you're reading this, be good and turn up to work when you should! Have two alarm clocks, then a bottle of coke and a king size snickers each morning (breakfast of champions!) Simon, if Alex steps out of line, lock him in the broom-cupboard under the stairs and force him to drink Hoegarden!
Ashton - [email protected] - 1 Jul 2003 04:25
My god, Alex, your still alive!! And you still care about us at the Lot enough to write a comment, but obviously not enough to turn up to work, or to just let H or me know what was happening.
Simon - 30 Jun 2003 16:04
What the hell is this about Jenny leaving??? What happened? where is she going? Why did she leave?Who is LHM now? Where is H? Simon, are you bar Simon or kitchen Simon? What is the Blanzin' Squad? Hardkore Hero, why didn't you tell me about this? I go abroad for a few months and now no-one tells me shit! Please email me and let me know what's happeing!
Ashton - [email protected] - 27 Jun 2003 03:40
An end of an era. Long live Jen. The Lot will not be the same.
And somebody please stop letting the Blazin' Squad in the pub.
the Hardkore Hero - 23 Jun 2003 12:16
I hear they just got a late license till 12! let the partying start! And damn are the bar staff good.
anonymous - 13 Jun 2003 01:09
What sort of weirdo name is "Gaha"? Is the the sound you make when you suck on your thumb? What is happening to this site? It used to be a shrine to insults and putdowns, but now the standard has reached an all time low. Will some one please get things back on track with some decent slag-offs!
Very upset! - 10 Apr 2003 07:36
ah the memories! lots of good times at the lot. those 3-6 split shift breaks from the page and flopping on the very comfy couches with the friendliest bar staff around. groovy tunes (cute boy videos!) on the vidoejukebox... oh and this "jack" bloke should take a long walk off the crumbling brighton pier as obviously he hasn't a "lot" to say worthy of printing here.
audrey - 1 Feb 2003 05:42
Whatever happened to this thread? It made my day reading the latest comments about Jack. Come back Jack, all is forgiven!

The D - 15 Nov 2002 20:41
Yeah Hello Dave! Is that sexy Welsh Dave we r talking about?
anonymous - 14 Nov 2002 14:03
14/11/02 finally Dave has come back...
anonymous - 6 Nov 2002 21:32
Jack, if you are hiding your name from us, maybe it's because you're ashamed of your self. If you want to slag off the pub, then fine, but at least have the balls to do it yourself and not behind a front. The Lot is an excellent pub and the atmosphere is great, the staff are friendly and very professional and if you have a problem with that, then go to another pub and stay there. The Americans are friendly and good fun to be with. Yes we are a young person's pub WE'RE A STUDNET BAR! If you worked here you would know that. If you wanna come in here, then maybe we can sit down and sort out any griefs you may have, if you want to stick to writing anonymous messages on this site, then at least be a bit more creative!
Ash - 5 Nov 2002 23:10
listen "JACK" all you have to do is tell us who you are and what your problem is with us i mean it cant have been that bad working can it you seem to know all the barstaff's names so are you old school "the lot" or new school "the lot" because there were two big daves any problems with the place and we will try to sort it out we dont want to lose any customers
alexander - 5 Nov 2002 22:58
I am Dave, never the little but not the big un either. Just who are you 'jack', reveal yourself!
David - 31 Oct 2002 18:42
that's o.k 'jack' i often get confused about the difference between working and vomiting. your c.v must be impressive!!
anonymous - 27 Oct 2002 11:24
Dear oh dear jack, if you vomited there you must have liked it enough to get so drunk, you must have liked it enough not to go to highly rated beerintheevening.com pub the racing page, you must have been so drunk that we threw you out and barred you! Don't be bitter about it jack, let it go. You don't have to be the big man here. It's ok, mistakes happen lightweights get far too drunk sometimes.
Oh and THE LOT RULES!
Dave (retired barman) - 26 Oct 2002 18:05
I dont think you like any pub Jack, What is wrong with you mate? You obviously need to go some where other than Richmond I think!!
anonymous - 21 Oct 2002 12:11
oh my mistake 'jenny' i must have meant vomited there. And Dave, seeing an american airhead is nothing to be proud of. And can you deny the fact that the pub is full of loud mouthed jabberwockies? You can't have a decent pint in there, the music's crap and the other 'customers' are obnoxious. And no, I am not an old man, but only 21, so this 'youth oriented' pub is not working on me.
jack - 17 Oct 2002 12:07
Its Cool!
anonymous - 30 Sep 2002 13:07
Hang on... I DO WORK HERE! I'm also seeing one of those american 'airheads' f**kwit. If you did work here YOU must've been fired.
Dave - 29 Sep 2002 15:17
who the f**k is jack? i run the pub and i never hired him. you sure you're in the right place mate?.
jenny - 29 Sep 2002 15:15
sickening student pub. Full of rich kids from the American University, good place to go if you want pointless sex with an airhead...that might appeal to some. And I know, I used to work there.
jack - 16 Sep 2002 16:29
