Used to be an alright boozer - now full of chavs. Carry on up the road!

Visited last Saturday night. After years away from Tooting. Was genuinely scared to see how a fairly good pub had declined.
I had one of the best pints of Speckled Hen available in years. I know it's a rough end of town, but the beer was worth the visit. Just be aware it's south of the river, and relax.
Also worth the visit for the cracking curry had 5 mins up the road.

Dire, Dire pub. If you need a drink in the immediate area, move on up to the Trafalgar.

I agree with Rod - gone downhill over last 5 years. The Company who own it should be ashamed of themselves for not investing any money in it - especially lighting & toilets!

The pub is like the old saying good things come to those who wait. Once you have been a couple of times and get to know the regulars like jimmy it's got the best vibe in tooting.

No atmosphere, bad lighting, poor range of beers - uncomfortable - just plain poor - just walk 50 metres up the road to the Trafalgar

perhaps the worst toilets in London!

Over 5 years has gone from a pretty decent pub to pretty appalling. No point in going here when the Trafalgar is 1 minute walk away.

I can imagine which of the bar staff you asked Andy - a couple of them are really, really thick! It hasn't been serving Firkin ales for about 2 years now and they've only just got around to changing the name. As for the George, we speculate it's to attract some of the St George's hospital staff who currently drink at the Trafalgar up the road. Which is much, much nicer.

No longer the Freedom and Firkin - now the George (for some unknown reason - the staff have no idea). If anything the place has gone even further downhill. Of 12 ale pumps not a single one has been 'on' for the last four weeks!

It is a bit grotty and you could die of thirst waiting to get served (and that's when it's quiet).

Another part of my youth wrenched away... the Tooting Tavern is no more.... (and it WAS a great jukebox!) Mind you, nor are Wimbledon FC just down the road. Thank god for AFCW.

Grotty. Very very grotty. The toilets are disgusting, the decour revolting. Only saved by a table football machine and a reasonable juke box.

Liked it when it was the Tooting Tavern with a great Juke Box.

Sporty - Kiwis, Aussies and South Ifricans, if you like that sort of thing...
