What's Fagan's good for?

Fagan's is good for grub. Fagan's is excellent for grub. Get yourself down to Fagan's at lunchtime for an All Day Breakfast (you're likely to be astounded by it) or, even, better... a pie.

A steak and ale pie or a meat and potato pie... these things are pretty huge, they're sourced from a local butcher and they're served with chips, gravy and peas (the default, but you can have beans if you ask)... and a pint of Moonshine.

Yeah... a pint of Moonshine.

I like Fagan's. They have nice green VAT receipts for my outings too.

But don't forget to try the All Day Breakfast at least once.

Initially, a slightly uninviting-looking boozer over 2 rooms, you might be expecting Gene Hunt and Ray Carling to be propping up one end of the 50s style bar. Only two ales on the go Tetley Bitter and Abbeydale Moonshine (my Moonshine was in good form). Theres some nice period features to admire such as the wood-paneling and plush banquettes; though parts can feel rather worn in places with a hint of better times having passed. I received a friendly welcome from the couple here have been in charge for a fair while - theres an award from 1989 on the wall featuring their faces. There was some slightly unusual piped music (sounded like Rene Artois belting out some lounge classics) plus a selection of daily papers and a book exchange. Food was available and sounded rather appetising but didnt have enough time to sample. Live music sessions were advertised. I caught it on a quiet evening; I guess this another one that relies mainly on student trade. Overall, its worth popping in as its a decent little boozer but dont necessarily prioritise it over others in the city pub crawl stakes if you cant fit it in easily.

Fine, traditional, former Tetley's pub situated on one of the main roads leading up to the University campus.

The splendid wood-pannelling and plush banquettes give a cosy, old fashioned feel.

For reasons which escaped me, initially I was virtually the only customer present on my mid-afternoon visit last Friday, although a small group of friendly students later joined me. In true student style, they had been drinking since opening time, but hadn't eaten yet that day and proceeded to enquire about the availability of all day breakfasts.

There's one main bar with a small intimate snug to the right as you go in - "just a small room with a couple of tables and chairs" - as one of the students dismissively put it.

My pint of Abbeydale Moonshine tasted rather uninspiring to me and the only other real ale on was Tetleys, but I liked this place as a pub.

It's a GBG regular, so I'll put my uninspiring pint down as a one off

I 'll definitely seek this one out again

Two Tetley Bitter pumps, plus Abbeydale Moonshine. Bar to right with nice wood surround incorporating lead-light stained glass panels, open lounge opposite bar, upholstered banquette seating & stools, trad wood tables. Rear room has an eclectic dcor of old folk-muso photos and the pub offers folk music 5nts a week. Tiny snug to rt of entrance with seating for 6-8, and a small access of its own to the bar.

Excellent traditional survivor on a busy thoroughfare on the edge of the city centre. It looks somewhat dingy but the atmosphere and welcome are very friendly. There is one traditional, comfy main bar room and a back room where music is often played. As you enter the pub there is a door to the right giving access to a splendid little snug. I went for the Moonshine ale which was on top form. Not a million miles from Kelham Island and worth going out of your way for.

Perhaps some what daunting from the outside, Fagans is fantastic inside, warm and friendly with a traditional interior. I had a pint of Addlestones Cider which was extremely nice and the other member of my party had the Moonshine, which he tells me was one of the best Moonshines he's ever had. I must give the food a try sometime as the menu looked very tempting and good value.

Best place in Sheffield for music sessions, in the back room. Good beer, friendly atmosphere and a lovely little snug bar on your left as you come in. Highly recommended.

Best pub food I've ever eaten!

Great little pub, stuck in the past (but that's no bad thing). Small range of beers, but the Guiness always tastes good.

Tom and Barbara are possibly the best pub hosts you could ever want to meet.

The steak pie (served only on Fridays) is absolutely legendary. For the price, you'll not have a better pie and chips meal anywhere.

Ticks all my boxes; friendly, unpretentious, full of character, excellent beer and a consistent but small range. Bar menu one of the most eclectic I've seen. Only downside - quiet on a Saturday afternoon (no garden) but a must visit.

I love Fagans. Last time i was in there we walked in the front door, got a perfectly kept pint and a funny story from Tom in thirty seconds. Yes it's smoky, yes it could do with a lick of paint, but the beer's good the atmosphere's great and the live music is untamed folk heaven.

Truely horrible pub, smoke everywhere, the pub could do with a new coat of paint as well

Still the same quaint pub.Live music with a distinctly Irish flavour most nights in the backroom -and Tom attempting to inform, educate and entertain his customers in the main bar.

Probably one of the finest pubs in the country. Nothing else needs to be said.

Fagans is a great place. When I knew it, it was being run by a bloke called Tom. An ex-teacher with a penchant for storytelling....whether you like it or not. Turn right as you go througt the door and you've got a room to yourself and maybe 2 mates at a push. the best thing is you've also got your own access to the bar! Strong Irish flavour, guinness the prefered tipple and live music which can range from a bloke with a violin to a pub full penny whistlers.

this is when I knew it though. years ago. hope it hasn't changed.

I haven't been to Fagan's in years, but it has to be my all time favourite pub. Great food (even the pub grub, like toasties were superbly done), great beer, and very friendly. I used to play, drink and eat there regularly. I showed up after my quickie registry office wedding to find them closed, but they let us in and served us a fantastic wedding breakfast.
