user reviews of the Pitcher And Piano, Islington

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Unless the revolution in corporate pub ownership has passed you by you will know exactly what to expect from a Pitcher and Piano, and if you take the trouble to read online reviews of pubs before you visit them then it is unlikely to appeal. This one is a shocker, even by the low standards of the Pitcher and Piano estate - full of braying office types who think they are City traders rather than people who have wound up working in Islington. Avoid at all costs.

Started going here for food, dont have to move a muscle or go to the bar for anything. I count that as pretty good service.

If you google "shellakasimmo", all you find is unbelievable glowing reviews of pitcher and piano 'pubs'. It makes me think that she works for their marketing dept and this was her job for a day.

Went there on the weekend and had a brilliant time! The staff were very friendly, great cocktails and very reasonably priced. My friend had something to eat and her food looked good too. I would definitely recommend!

Havent been down this end of Upper St in a while but was pleasantly suprised. Good bar these days.

Since the refurb this place has improved. The interior is a lot nicer but the main thing is that they are not tying to turn it into a nightclub after 9 on the weekends. It went down that (one way) street a few years back but have restored some sense now. The service and atmosphere has improved beyond recognition

This has always been a place I treated with aprehension when the prospect of having to go there cropped up. Having been twice now I'm glad to have been proved right. The punters are a mixture of the desperate to pull and the painfully trendy City wannabes. The lighting in the raised area is non-existant and I almost broke my foot coming down the steps cos I couldn't see the steps such is the darkness there. The cost of a pint was surprisingly low for somewhere desperate to be posh Islington pub and a nightclub at the same time.

Noisy, poor service, full of people who think they shoudl be working in the City but only made it as as the Upper Street end of City Road. Avoid.

it is ok in mid week if u are on a date, its not too packed, pretty chilled out. however on a friday and saturday, it is full of suits (people who are behind a desk all week then spend all weekend doing coke, talking really loudly and acting really obnoxiuosly).

and the bar staff are totally useless, up their own arse and are more concerned with prancing up and down the bar area than serving. and how does 'gin and tonic' sound anything like x2 vodka red bull. and the cheeky mare still insisting on charging me for it. unless u love blowing money, drinking with over-hyped and coked up suits, i advise u avoid...

Baldo, you clearly work work for P&P (check Baldo's feedback...exclusively positive about P&P). Otherwise, you are an extreme masochist.

Awful. Best part about our visit was the door closing as we left. Baldo must have a vested interest in talking up these dreadful, charmless chain bars.

Strangely enough, quite smart inside. I can't help rather liking it. This end of Upper Street is pretty rubbish anyway so you won't do any better anywhere else here.

if your looking for a grandad pub, like in the good old days, then dont go here!yes, the drinks are student prices, but neither are the surroundings.if you fancy a few good cocktails, and a good looking crowd, its the place to go.it may have the feel of a club, but theres no cover charge on the door!

Why anyone would want to go into this establishment--when there are a plethora of good pubs on Upper Street--is beyond me. The place is a wannabe club, with blaring music cut from Radio One, and very expensive drinks. Yes there are plenty of good looking people here, but if you want atmosphere go anywhere else. (there are good looking people in other bars/pubs in Islington too). Avoid at all costs.

Some body told me this was a chain, you wouldn't know best cocktails and best girls on upper street.

Unfortunately its not the best pub in london but exactly like every other Pitcher & Piano, the last time I was there you had to ask for a single or you got a double, which is great if your are in a round of 5 (25!) Don't forget to dress up too!
