Very quiet on a Monday lunchtime - there were only three customers when we arrived, and one of them looked like an ageing roadie on his last legs. But I'd guess this place livens up in the evening, as it's known as a rock music venue. Minimal furniture - as far as I could see there are only two tables and a pool table. Pleasingly there were 3 real ales. Come in the evening if you want a livelier drinking environment.

Visited Stevenage for football, and was told not to expect very much, but after going in several other pubs, visited Red Lion, made to feel welcome from staff and as a rock fan,had great evening watching live band.

Gosh - what a place. Cavernous inside with pool table and a juke box that sadly has no Nick Cave. Or PJ Harvey.

But its outside that all the action happens on a warm summer night.

There is a elderly gentleman that surely isnt with that woman. She appears to be drinking real ale from a pitcher. With no glass.

There are assorted other groups of students, covering all the groups from leather bound Guns and Roses fan to too cool for school hipster. Hipster shouts out and asks if anyone is selling cocaine.

My favorite was the well bearded sandle wearer who everyone called Jesus.

One strange place. I had to stop for another to see what happened next.

If you like live music and friendly staff then this is the pub for you, this pub has a large beer garden and smoking area for those sunny afternoons and 2 bars including a pool table, touch screen juke box, quiz machine and fruit machines. this place can get very busy on the weekend as there is usualy a live band so i would advise you arrive before 8pm. there are many food outlets close by so very handy for that late night kebab. on a whole this is a friendly and welcoming pub and i would recomend it to anyone

Well my very first review, however also my first visit to Stevenage old town. It's a Sunday afternoon on a lovely summers day, I'm choosing it to sit in this dark and noisy pub sweating away watching some young lads ay pool and a geezer playing on the dart board. A mixture of the old, drunk, rockers and young pups, the large bloke behind the bar seemed ok and was quick to serve, not so the other lad with his headphones on. Stuck with a pint of guiness at 3.10 which was fine and tasting how it should. An ok pub.

Pub has been done up and now looks very nice. Usually more people in teh garden that inside as they have a new smoking bit outside. Beer still good although no Abbott Reserve. Usually just GK IPA and Abbott.

A nice touch screen jukebox plays good music and there is always a nice mixture of crowd in the pub.

Pub still good for music and beer. They now have Abbott Reserbe 6.5% :D It's strong and goood, never seen it anywhere else before so well worth the try.

Be careful though as the bar staff may try and short change you. Otherwise this pub seems to get beter in terms of beer!

decent pub,, good music,, can't move for people at the weekends! what more could you ask for really?

prices aren't bad, bar staff are nice, the only place in town at the moment that will give you that full on live music buzz,

Old style pub which gets crowded most nights. They do live music thursday to sunday which usually comprises of rock and metal bands. The prices are average but they do have some real ales which are kept well. The people in there are your rock/metal fan types which can be a bit scary. However, I have never witnessed any trouble in there. I recommend visiting if rock music and real ale drinks are your thing.

It can appear intimadating upon your first visit here. Bikers, leathers and metal/ rock fans frequent but get to know them and they are really quite friendly. A great place to get to know someone if you are alone or new in town as the regulars will mix and socialise. If you drink in the front bar beware of Juicy's hairstyle getting in your way!

Full of strange people, well people who dress and look like Ozzy Osbourne. Beer is quite good (Ale that is). Live music is usually very good.

I went in after work - wearing a suit and tie -and was jostled and barged about by a few 'regualrs'. from their mutterd comments they clearly objected to my appearance.
Give the place a miss unless you havn't had a bath in weeks and dress like a fledgling tramp.

yeah a great pub with a 'real' pub atmosphere.

What can I say about 'The Rouge Leonn'?...well, you know that you're in original pub when the Ken Dodd look-a-like is the most hansome man in there!. Enough said.

The only alternitive, biker pub in stevenage with a friendly atmosphere, live bands and a pool team.
