please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

I was due to have my Wedding Reception (upstairs) here last year, until they phoned me A WEEK BEFORE to say that they were closing for refurbishment! To say that this was an absolute nightmare does not even come close.

Yes, they offered compensation (after me chasing for it) but it did not make up for what they put us through - disgraceful.

This has now been refurbished and renamed (though I cannot remember what to). The bar has been moved to the front, from the middle, to create a more open space. The clientle is much as before as is the ambience. Very much part of the young scene on the river, and there's nothing wrong with that.

Not a bad place to be, but has the slowest bar service in Richmond. If you're drinking outside, it's best to buy from the Slug instead

Food takes ages to arrive because you need to be psychic to know that you should only order food from one specific person that is whirling around the bar like a bear with a sore head in a hurricane and not at the bar as the bar staff seem to think. Slow service at the bar even when not particularly busy. Nice pub to look at and you can sit outside on the grass by the river but full of Barry Lagers that want to get drunk in the sunshine.

nice bar, great location, felix the bartender made one of the best caipirinha's i've had yet... keep up the good cocktails! the bouncers need to be a bit less tight on the over 21s thing though
fakepigeons - 25 Aug 2006 18:13
Just joined this board and had thought that if I hate a place then don't write about it and just don't go there but in this case can I make an exception - it's rubbish both in terms of a bar and also it's clientele.

Fairly central bar on the Richmond stretch of the rivers hostelries.Bright breezy high ceilinged bar.Good for a 1 pint stopoff.
EdgarBriggsMI5 - 21 Sep 2005 20:00
Underwhelming, expensive, but good location - good place to meet up and move off to somewhere else.
villageidoit - 14 Apr 2005 17:58
It's OK. Nothing special but a nice location.
pinot - 24 Feb 2005 17:48
I thought the service was fantstic on my last visit, my cocktails being shaken in style. I love it there, and would definatly come back there. The staff aint that bad looking either.
Alex - 18 Sep 2004 14:14
I think too much consideration has been made on the decor whilst the service and drinks have been forgotten about. Don't have a cocktail, they aren't good. There's better to be found in Richmond.

to the last comment dan how do you know that this place is having all those changes done? me and my mates rate this place highly for good fun any night of the week
phill - 14 Sep 2004 22:21
soon to be going through some serious changes over the next month or so, with no doubt a new management team, and probably bar team, minus a couple that actually are v.good. Deffinatly a place for hot summer drinking, (so no often in England), and perfect for romantic meals on the balcony during the sun going down,(again if the weather holds up, and you don't eat much of the food!) It's alright.., but maybe not something I'd suggest to a friend until they've had their changes done. I'll keep an eye and ear out on this place!
DAN - 5 Jul 2004 02:17
The new food menu is excellent. The d.j that plays on saturday and sundays is good to.
Excellent place to party.I will go again
alex - 9 Feb 2004 22:03
Loads of slightly loose looking lay-deez in this place; that may or may not be a good thing for you.....
David - 6 Dec 2003 18:02
Not a pub really is it? More a cafe by day and a bar by night. Subtle but significant differances. And as the latter it's shite - unless you are over 40 and still consider Goerge Micheal to be cool.
Good for: Men who wear their 'pullovers' over their shoulders.
thenationofjames - 26 Nov 2003 16:02
Great in the summer. If you can go upstairs and get on the balcony. Decent food as well. Ideally for a pint after work with a shared platter etc.

Service has improved dramatically over the past few months. New cocktails are brilliant, but can take a while to make. But i suppose lots of fresh fruit & blending adds extra time to making them. Staff deal well with over impatient customers. Give them a break, it's a cocktail bar, not the local pub. Creating good drinks take time. Keep it up!!
daniel - 8 Aug 2003 02:13
Sexy mc harvey in there on sat night!!! Djs good. Gonna def. go back
kelly - 3 Aug 2003 23:58
Great night on saturday! DJ was wicked again. Is this happening every week? We're all looking forward to the Caribbean Beach Party on Friday. Dodgy shirts and shades all round. Free cocktails? Yes please!!
Jimmy - 3 Aug 2003 19:31
Saturday night was brilliant! Had 2 wicked DJ's, really changed the atmosphere. Nice one

"No shorts! - no thankyou."

I think you will find that the dress code has undergone a slight change in the last few months... Shorts are fine, as are trainers... as long as they are clean and not scummy looking. Its a classy place that is trying to relieve some of the snotty nosed pretentiousness of Richmond.

and as for "Please contact manager to ask why there are toilet attendants at weekends." I think you will find that its all down to drug prevention and awareness.... if you dont want to tip them, Dont... they are only there to make sure that no-one is up to no good in the toilets.

I booked a table at the restaurant on saturday evening for 20 people at 6:30pm. we turned up - there was table set up for us! After about 45 minutes of the restarant manager and all his staff having endless breaks and me complaining 3 times for them to get the table sorted, we finally had a table. It then took 2 hours before we had our main course!!! I had to constantly ask for service for drinks and also prompt them to take our orders. The place was empty and no one else in there but me and my 19 mates from 8pm onwards!!!! The food was actually very nice, shame about the totally abissmal service.

No shorts! - no thankyou.
DeviousDave - 10 Jun 2003 12:15
was there last saturday. good atmosphere. best place in rochmond without a doubt.
kelly - 24 May 2003 23:20
The one thing I found stupid is their refusal to allow shorts. Even if you are wearing a smart pair with a smart shirt. They allow smart jeans and smart trainers but not smart shorts... they could not give a good explaination for this other than they have always done this... Sorry but I think that that is just plain stupid, a snooty rule for the sake of it. Not the kind of place I will ever go to again... bizarre attitude.
Jason - 17 May 2003 20:37
2.95 for a pint. sorry to be precise, but even us "scumbags" can add up!
daniel - 14 May 2003 12:28
well then daniel jacob's exactly how much is it for a pint of Kronenbourg then, I do believe it is over three pounds.
gavin - 9 May 2003 12:58
sorry to dissapoint you Gavin, but it is not over three pounds for a pint of lager. I've drank in Henrys for a long time & am not as you put it a scumbag. If you dont like it, I am sure there are other places for you to drink.
Daniel Jacobs - 3 May 2003 01:22
This bar is very overpriced and at over three pounds a pint of Lager the management should be reviewing the situation. The Bar is full of wannabe rich boys but are actually local scum bags. This place is a pretencious rip-off and should be avoided
Gavin - 8 Apr 2003 14:25
it is blindin'!!! Girl staff well fit & do well to cope with madness of river front!

Danny - 7 Apr 2003 13:14
Henry's is a fantastic bar with a great restaurant! The service is excellent and the people are wonderful. I would recommend this place to anyone with a sense of style and a mature yet fun filled personality.
Dawson Gray - 20 Dec 2002 08:31
Please contact manager to ask why there are toilet attendants at weekends.
The Manager - 3 Nov 2002 01:30
You should go and rate this bar since it's refurb. A definate improvement!
Louisa - 25 Oct 2002 19:12
Henry's looks brilliant since it's refurb. Service is excellent & with new late licence, wicked Saturday night out!
Anna - 22 Oct 2002 20:12
I was there the night it re-openened after the re-fit. Free vodka off the ice statues did me in :( Fun place though, always a favourite when in Richmond.
Adrian Yorke - 7 Oct 2002 23:48
only good for the cocktail happy hours - other than that avoid it - another place where they have a guy watching you in the bogs handing out ripped off toiletries expecting money - can't people go to the lav in peace? (and without being asked for money?)
simon - 30 Sep 2002 14:17
cocktail happy hour 6-8 fridays - nuff said!
anonymous - 24 Sep 2002 13:53

mish - 9 Jul 2002 23:12
Popular with the Feltham and Hounslow Scumbags
Ben - 23 May 2002 14:14
Only really popular with people who don't actually live in Richmond as are the Pitcher & Piano, All Bar One and the Slug and Lettuce.
Dan - 20 May 2002 14:28
Nice for 18 year olds with belts as skirts! But too many dribbling old men aspiring to the afore mention teenies. Nice views out the window though !!
