please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
Get them in-get them out atmosphere; devoid of friendliness, dreadful beer(s) wouldn't like to see pipes! rickety furniture-the sort of pub you'd expect in Romford-not in a central prime Ealing location! Avoid!
|
Edwards has gone downhill rapidly - scummy (and I mean really scummy) toilets - sticky dirty bar - rude staff - full of kids. A real shame used to be the pub in ealing with the best atmosphere.

Avoid at all costs - complete pit. Chavtastic. If you like pubs with a 'door policy' you might like this. Nice outside seating if you are a bus spotter (sure to spot a 207... or 50) or short on your hydrocarbon emissions intake.
|
Bog standard chav hole - crap music - ugly dogs dressed up to the nines to try and attract the nearest hoodie gangsta wannabe.
Can look like an Al Qaeda recruiting office on some nights and south side bronx the next

Muswells .... R.I.P! Move on with the times mate ... no point reminising about the past. Edwards has a lovely face lift. Very busy!!!

Bring back muswells

I disagree that it has no character! I guess it depends on what you like but I think it has great character, especially since the refurb! For me it's an enjoyable place to drink and be with friends! Highly recommended.

I can't believe this pub has got such good reviews, it's not nasty in any way but it also has no character. It's ok for a quick pint if you're waiting to go somewhere else but no more.

Fantastic pub! Absolutely brilliant for lunchtime. Great value for money and excellent food for the price! Highly recommended. Yes, it can have a young crown but is that such a bad thing? Young and polite is fine!

Popped in on a Friday with some friends. DJ plays far too much Urban music and really needs lessons in mixing his selection. Apart from that, normal bar prices and a OK-ish night.

Thurs night is fulla students and a young crowd...God I feel old when I keep saying young in my reviews lol Its a good crack, not the best bar in the world but good for an atmosphere!

Tuesday nights rock!!! £1.25 on certain drinks and good music. Some peeps do breakdancing, student cheap night out!!!!!!!

Been in a couple of times, no staff charisma, charmless, however, my beer was fine. Would not meet up here out of choice.

I'm now off to collect my pension.......
|
I read older to mean over 18!! Give me a pub with less kids in any day!
|
great for students on a tuesday night but i can see why some of the older customers don't like it much in the evenings other than that love the place, good music, good food and its cheap
|
Mitsy must work for Edwards! It is the customers who make the place though, and I must have just happened upon a night when they were particularly chavy. The plentiful police presence outside all evening suggest that trouble is never far away.....

Went out in West Ealing for 'just one drink' on Christams eve and as some mates were in eddy's they ended up twisting the rest of our arms to have a one there. I am so glad they did as one turned into a few then a few into plenty. There was a lovely vibe about the place, it wasn't overly crowded, everyone was friendly and there were lots of good drinks promotions on and the bar staff were friendly and happy to make recomendations. The lads in the group said the beer was fine and as everything was so cheap we had plenty of dosh left over to get a few bottles of bubbly in to see in Christmas (also very reasonably priced). The doormen did turn up on the door about 9:30pm but they were in good spirits and as always I found them to be courteous. Can't really comment on the bad reviews as I have always found Edwards to be the pub in Ealing with minimal trouble and the best atmosphere.... I know I know, that wouldn't be hard considering the lame pubs in Ealing.. but still I firmly like Edwards

forgot to mention in my last post - there was subsequently an arrest of a person who was following me home (I presume it was either one of both of the 'youths' who made the allegation against me) - I equate running to the doorman and sneaking on me to be as cowardly as (for example) telling their Mum!!!
|
Visited there just before Christmas - my night (and that of the party I was with) was ruined by a combination of (a) a couple of young chavs out spoiling for a fight and (b) the bouncers - who seemed willing to believe an allegation made my the aforementioned chavs regardless of whether it was true or not (which it wasn't). I have subsequently learnt that the chavs were barred from the bar - I doubt they were even old enough to be drinking in there! Looking at previous comments about this place it looks like I am not alone with my very low opinion of the place....

Haven't been in quite a while but did go to a few of the Student nights or cheap drinks nights as lots of people i knew were going. turned out to be an attempt at flogging all their gone off booze. having been a barmaid and attended a good few line cleanings (lots and lots of free beer!) i know what beer tastes like when not at its best. Edwards stock was RANK. complained to the manager who was an arse about it. finally persuaded him to taste it himself at which point he pulled a funny face, spat it out and FINALLY got me a decent pint.bit pathetic. also get the feeling the doorstaff are wanna-be SAS men who think they are somehow rough and tough and act as though they have superior authority. reality is from the look of them, they have spent too much time watching the bill and building beer bellies! was not impressed.

Just got back from this place.Waited at the bar from approximately 22:25 to 23:05 for a drink, but to no avail, although several customers who had waited alot less than me got served. Eventually gave up and left, who knows how long I would have waited otherwise. Definetly a place to be avoided.
|
Edwards always has a grat atmosphere and is cheap enough but the bar staff are quite sulky and certainaly not in a hurry to serve you. The doorman is a bit grumpy but if you just wanna have a good night with your mates, Eddys is probably one of the best in Ealing.

Rude door'men', slow service, crap music, nowhere to sit, moody cliquey atmosphere, full of teenagers trying to look over 21, only good in the daytime for a quick drink and a snack....dont even bother with it after 7pm

I love Edwards The food is great and so cheap, you can get a double JD and coke for less than £3. The draught beer tastes good, good quiz machine, friendly (longterm) staff and cuctomers. A great atmosphere

I am a previous employee of this pub, and I am infact the one who ash is referring to. I wasnt bein racist, is it to much to ask for a bit of manners these days!I asked him to say please in a jokin manner as i did with many of the customers all of whom take it as it is meant to be A JOKE!
|
Over priced drinks, rubish music, rude staff, even ruder door men. The staff never wipe down the bar and you end up putting your hand in someones spilt drink.
The only good thing about the place is the seating the lighting and the toilets.
avoid at all costs.
|
I love Edwards! I think its great. It is so cheap and the food is always great.

ash - how does that make the bar staff at Edwards racist? just because they didn't serve you for a while it doesnt mean they are racist. If they had said a racist comment to you then thats racist. Its not fair to make a comment about the bar staff like that when it seems to me its your paranoia and attitude that is the problem.

In early evening you get suits who've been working in the Town Hall next door. Later it is a very young crowd. Sometimes has a live DJ playing crap music at about 500 decibels making it impossible to talk. They must lose so much trade when he's on!
Jon - 30 Aug 2004 00:45 |
Rubbish. High prices, offensive staff and other patrons.
TheGP - 12 Aug 2004 14:13 |
i feel it really is a racist place as when i went their a few nights ago for a few drinks with collegues i was firstly not served for almost half a hour then when i was finally served i asked for three beers and i was told that i have to say please and the lady walked off laughing at me. i really did think the days of racism were long gone but i guess i was wrong

Very much a young crowd's place i.e. lots of standing room. Nothing special about the selection of drinks. The last time we went my we were refused entry by the bouncer (a first for me!) as my girlfriend was wearing colourful plimsolls, which breached their dress code on a Friday evening. Apart from that we were both smartly dressed - maybe the guy thought we were too old at around 40. Consequently we have not been back.
