First visit to this locale. Staying up the lane. Choose my Hol. accommodation to have a walking distance Pub. Googled area and Pub first. Looks run-down outside but early days for new ownwers. If a pub serves good ale (it does, Skinners and St. Austell) I can live with outside shabby rustic. Inside, from my point of view is near on perfect. Very trad beams and carpet. Love it !
Tiny bar, yes, space is limited but it's an OLD cottage style building, not extended to give spacious but out of character eating areas. (Book first to be safe).
Food we had was excellent, £46 for two mains one desert 2 large and 2 med. glasses wine. (£9.60 was for wine) On par with other pubs we have visited. Staff really great, friendly as are the local folk.
Also very dog friendly to the extent a staff member may pop out with a biscuit for your pooch!
This pub will make my hols so much better, and yours too. When you call in, DO say hello to the folk milling around outside and at the bar and feel at home.
A pub like this can motivate me to return to this area, as I will not drive to a pub for meals/drinks.
Staggering home is so much more fun.

We welcome the new managers of this thriving pub, Tim and Lizzie who took over at the beginning of May, 2013. We are delighted to see opening hours all day now on Saturdays and Sundays and wish them both every success. This pub is well worth a visit. Great bar, great good and friendly banter!

My Son and I ate at this pub this evening, it seems to be a thriving pub in a rather elite village, it was certainly full! tables seem to be somewhat cramped together and despite not pre booking a table we werent turned away.
The food was very good for such a small pub, you could tell that some the food was home made and not from a pre packed frozen state, which so many pubs tend to use nowadays, the presentation was very good, the soup I had was delicious! butternut squash and garlic, our waitress was exceptional and attentive. We had a starter and main meal 2 coffees and 2 teas, the bill came to 40 + which I consider rather expensive for what we had, (our usual bill at a top chinese resturant comes to less for 3 courses and drinks) On the whole everything considered we enjoyed our meal, but because of the cost it may well be a once in a blue moon to re visit.

Crowded. Very crowded. Where there should be 1 table they have crammed 2 in, so there is no space. Food OK so long as you keep your elbows in.

This is my local and it is by far the best around in the immediate area. The food is good, particularly Sunday lunch, which is very reasonably priced and all home cooked (unlike the Norway Inn down the road, which isn't). Very friendly and helpful staff. Quite a small pub, but it is very bijou, and people flock from miles away to soak up the atmosphere.

I HAVE VISITED THIS PUB MANY TIMES ON MY TRIPS TO MY OUTLAWS IN PERRANWELL. THE FOOD HAS ALWAYS BEEN VERY GOOD, AND MEMBERS OF STAFF HAVE BEEN GREAT, PEOPLE HAVE SAID IT IS EXPENSIVE TO EAT THERE, BUT YOU PAY FOR QUALITY NOWADAYS, IF PEOPLE WANT CHIP SHOP PRICES GO TO THE CHIPPY. ALSO THERE IS A GOOD SELECTION OF BEERS AND FINE WINES.

Really nice food, slightly expensive. Not a good drinking pub, but nice atmosphere. Limited selection of 'light' lunch meals.

Very small and too much emphasis on food...I tried the Cornish Arms in Frogpool and found this to be alot better value and alot friendlier.
