Today I went to the Geoff Ogily pub in Woking, this is an interesting pub with interesting beer and food. It even does poker nights and shows plenty of sport.

This is Randy Santel (Atlas) With Atlas and Zeus promotions and proud owner of foodchallenges.***. Today I went to the Geoff Ogilvy in Woking for the FISH AND CHIPS CHALLENGE (MASSIVE PORTION), Sponsored by Amstel Lager. I had 20 minutes to complete the delicious challenge of BEER BATTERED COD, CHIPS AND GARDEN PEAS. Including tartar Sauce and a pint of Amstel LAGER. I win my free sweet T-shirt and reign supreme on the Wall of Fame.

Much better than wetherspoons this is called Ogilvy's. Sadly this site cannot be bothered to change it.
BestBeerBoffin - 25 Mar 2017 14:51
Good place to watch televised sport - 'enjoyed' the T20 final last Sunday, but please get taps in the toilets that work!

flashharry1965 - 7 Apr 2016 14:01
This is now Ogilvy - a Stonegate pub. Not unlike Wetherspoon / Ember etc in that it has cheaply priced real ales and a comprehensive laminated menu. Good value at present because it hasn't really caught on yet so it tends to be quiet. I hope Stonegate manage to make a go of it.

Went in last week with friends and chatted to the manager, it seems they were taken to review but most concerns were with regards to their smoking area which is on the main stretch of chertsey road and contends with all the late night customers from the other close venues. They successfully defended their license and are back to operating as usual, by that I mean it's mainly to watch sky sports or have a vodka and dance later on. We stayed on until about 1am and had a good night. Not a huge range of beers but quick and knowledgeable service from friendly staff and a generally decent atmosphere. My usual niggle though, even as a 'late night venue' REALLY needs a 'lick of paint' at least!
MrBear - 22 Apr 2011 05:56
Will it lose its licence? Up before the Council next week - the papers make an interesting read with respect to events at this place.
meurglys_iv - 18 Mar 2011 16:53
I'm not sure if they've had a change of staff/management but this place seems to be considerably better now. I used to avoid it like the plague but after not having visited in a couple of years I was dragged in for a mates birthday a couple of months ago and had a brilliant time! Since then I've been back a a fair few times cos they have Sky Sports and usually end up staying on through the night cos the DJ is pretty good, better crowd than some other late night places and I also have to say the bouncers didn't seem to be nasty as previous posters mentioned, They actually helped me hugely when I lost my mate.
For a place that doesn't look 'all that' I actually really rate it now!
MrBear - 13 Nov 2010 02:57
Avoid here and Chameleon for a half decent night out in Woking.

A few doors up from Wetherspoons and what a difference!
An absolute hell hole on weekend evenings - loud music, bouncers and nearly dressed slappettes screeching at each other whilst young lads strike hard man poses at each other. During the afternoons it has the advantage of having plenty of screens to watch football and this was why I was dragged in here on Sunday.
There is plenty of space, reflecting it's evening role, but they have gone a bit overboard on the "industrial" look with exposed ventelation and electrical ducting. The beer selection is, as you would expect, standard keg rubbish.
Bizarrely, in the gent's toilet you can buy, for 5, a multi-speed vibrator!
This place is pretty much the pits and all four points that I am awarding it are entirely down to Chelsea winning 8-0 and clinching the 2009-2010 Premier League title whilst I was in here.

flashharry1965 - 10 May 2010 11:07
Not my type of bar but acceptable on a quiet evening.
drinkers_paradise - 2 May 2010 18:32
load of rubbish and thats just the bouncers standing outside thinking they are big and going to handle the foul mouthed yobs who frequent this scummy bar. do not bother if u want 2 have a decent evening out. any place thats going 2 play rnb and other nonsense is probably going 2 suck.
BestBeerBoffin - 23 May 2009 16:55
Chav Central.

Bit of a kids hangout. Not good beer.

I came here Bank Holiday Sunday (25 May) around 10ish with my girlfriend and a few of her mates, so I was obviously not searching for H-Files! I was impressed with how lively this place was. It was packed, but then again it was free entry.

It was not my round, so I am unsure of drink prices in here, but it was a while before I got my drink and it looked like a long wait at the bar. I found the atmosphere quite relaxed and enjoyed the mixture of dance/R&B tracks playing in the background. There is a pool table as well to keep you amused if you do not wish to dance or pose on the relatively small dance floor.

I would certainly come here again if in Woking, but definitely if I become single again, as starting in the Wetherspoons and then coming here is a must for potential H-File victims.

Sh"thole. Avoid.

Love this place! small enough that u can stay wiv ur friends but big enuf that its not cramped!
Cheap Drinks!
Excellent staff! Love them all to bits - they make the night really relaxed.
Great range of unusual drinks e.g. the squashed frog!

One let down is that the girls toilets are upstairs which can be a hassel after drinks and wearing heels!

Love it!
See you all there Friday Night! :):):)
kevskimo - 18 Oct 2007 23:02
I am in my early 20s and feel like I am in my 40s when I come here.
fletch - 11 Jul 2007 10:08
See notes on Chameleon. Never go there, always come here. A lot smaller but a lot better. Plus, and I could be wrong here, you don't pay to get in?
guiness1 - 9 Apr 2007 20:40
Good fun on a Thursday night much better than Chameleon but that's not hard lol
Supersupper - 21 Feb 2007 20:51
I'm a Barman in RSVP Woking so I may be being biased here but what a place! For anyone who knows us (the staff) and if you're reading this then make sure you pop in and say hi... Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday it's 1.50 a drink - can't say fairer than that can we! - but I shall explain how this works: Anything on TAP is 1.50, All bottles (Excluding Magners and Bulmers) is 1.50. Now for the difficult bit... A SHOT of Vodka is 1.50, but we need to add the mixer, so cola, lemonade, orange juice etc... is going to be 50p on top making a Vodka-Coke for example 2.00. A lot of people ask why Vodka-Redbull isn't a 1.50 drink so this bit is just for you guys! Vodka is 1.50... Redbull is 1.50, put them together and we reach 3.00 (Which is still cheaper than normal).

Plus we all love compliments, the Barmen never get asked out, so if you want any of our numbers just ask... and The barwomen would love this too, but please don't do this to them with beer breath, glazed eyes or a psycotic demenour!
three_stacks - 12 Feb 2007 12:32
Friendly barstaff and a great club atmosphere on a Saturday night!
The Dj is really good (and lush), knows how to work the crowd and will play almost anything you request.

anonymous - 10 Jan 2007 17:39
Better than RSVP in Guildford i think but that isnt too difficult
aleman - 25 Dec 2006 14:06
Love this place on Thursday evenings.. .Cheap drinks, naff music = fun night out! And the dreadhead barman is lush! Anyone know him get him to contact us!
Yey Thursdays!
anonymous - 13 Dec 2006 20:51
I can't say i blame you! RSVP sucks now. The DJ's was awful last time i went there on a thursday, the old dj really knew how to work his people and what we wanted. The rumour is he's going to be at Yates soon, with the old rsvp management too. anyone know if this is true? if so .. see you there !!
anonymous - 13 Aug 2006 06:38
Haven't been here for about a month now. Nor do i want to ever again. If sticky floors, broken glass, arrogant life threatening bouncers and no space to move at all, getting sum idiots beer all over your clothes is ur idea of a night out, then definitely go there. But if u actually want a gd night out, then guildford is a 10 minute train journey away. Oh and within ten seconds of joining the queue sum fat bird offers a blow job for a drink. I pitied the monster and gave her fifty pence for a lemonade. She probably just bought a packet of crisps.
boucerssuck - 5 Aug 2006 23:05
whats happened to this place? it used to be so good... manager changes and it turns back into shots!
anonymous - 2 Aug 2006 18:00
Adam was the best manager our local the white horse chichester had ever seen he is a great guy and an excellent pub manager friendly and efficient - we're gutted he's had to move on and will all be visiting him at RSVP he'll be the best thing to happen to woking night life in a long time, we miss you loads Adam good luck (as if you need it), x
anonymous - 28 Mar 2006 16:50
it is good music in there but it is full of desperate and sleazy old man who have problems in understanding NO
anonymous - 9 Jan 2006 15:02
excellent transformation! good place to go. no under age drinkers. served pritty quickly. nice place. so so so much better than chamelion.
anonymous - 12 May 2005 17:29
this is a gr8 place to go out, drink and enjoy ure self. i have worked here for over 3 months and i love it! i may be a lil bias, but wouldnt u be if u got tips and staff drinks?!?!? as for saying this place is expencive... which other pub in town does vodka and a mixer for only 1 on a thurs night, and a selection of other drinks for 1 on a sunday night?! there is a dj playing wed to sun nights and they are always willin to play requests (even if us bar staff get fed up with hearin the same borin stuff over and over!) Dont just take my word for it pop down and see for ureself!
lil_elle - 21 Apr 2005 15:53
what a difference 6 months makes - this is a great place to go at weekends or during the week. Credit to the management, staff and DJ's. Fun, lively, easy to get served and a good mix of people. Great tunes, great drinks promotions, fit barmaids, low proportion of chavs (for Woking anyway). Build another floor on top i reckon. Only one area to improve on - get rid of the napkins!
anonymous - 10 Mar 2005 16:43
brilliant!
Completely different from shotz and getting busier and busier every week.
Friendly staff and a great atmosphere. Definatley worth checking out!
Bethan - 31 Oct 2004 18:10
Damm - just when i thought this was turning into a decent late night bar the chav section of Woking decide that they have had enough of Chameleon and descend on RSVP. Not sure how this can be stopped (perhaps make it over 21's only for a start) but i hope its not repeated at weekends.
anonymous - 1 Oct 2004 09:03
pretty rubbish place, still shotz essentially which was really bad! anywayz why go there when Chameleon is about 10 yards across the road and is soo much better!
anonymous - 23 Sep 2004 16:56
Seems to be picking its feet up of the ground, and looks to be run with a whole new team. Food was really good last I ate there, and the atmosphere is much friendlier than when it was shotz. A nice stepping stone for improving the drinking facilities in Woking.

Just to clarify a few things said by Dean! Stella is actually only 2.65 and we do show sports at lunch time, infact they are on pretty much all day.If what you want to watch isnt on the screens, all you have to do is ask!
anonymous - 7 Jul 2004 16:50
Aesthetically very good - although prices are at the top end for Woking - Stella 2.70 a pint.

Major flaws include Company policy "NOT to show any form of Sport at lunchtimes", ( Even though there
are 35 televisions on the premises!) Seeing as RSVP is the ONLY pub with Sky Sports in Woking, it might
be prudent for the people who own this pub, to reverse this decision. Showing One Day Cricket/Wimbledon
will would attract more than the 6 regulars that normally frequent it during weekday lunchtimes!!

Come on RSVP - take a look at your turnover. Put Sky Sports on (advertise it!) and watch turnover increase!!

It's a no brainer!!!
Dean Butler - 6 Jul 2004 13:56
The refurb has now taken place. The place is 100% better. Opening hours are 11am-11pm Mon-Weds. 11am-2am Thurs-Sat & 12pm-10:30pm on Sundays, with cheap drinks on Thursdays & sundays.
Liz - 15 Jun 2004 19:28
Vast improvement. Good seating and lighting. Excellent place now.
Bob - 20 May 2004 12:46
doesn't seem to open till 12 on Saturdays which is a bit poor. Sells decent beer and cider though and has big screen and Sky Sports for all us football fans.
Richard - 26 Apr 2004 01:02
I have just been appointed deputy manager at this pub, along with a very experienced new manager. We have been asked to change the bad reputation of this great pub. We started by changing the door team, changing the music and the lighting. This is just for starters. Refurb due at end of april, keep your eyes out for further info and for tickets to our opening night.
anonymous - 15 Mar 2004 18:48
Hey, keep your eye on this place over the next couple of months. I've seen plans for a referb, new staff, door team, food & drinks menus's (all at v.good prices), and a whole new look on the whole. Maybe something worth checking out at least once this year rather than just remembering how bad it used to be. Look out for the new bar tender they are getting in soon, hear he's a bit handy on the bar..!

if you think ya from the ghetto, or are just a plain rudeboy/girl, then you'll be at home here! The dj's are great if your into drum and bass/r'n'b/hip-hop, but the place has got a sh*t reputation for a good reason.., only worth going if your under 18 or have really rubbish fake i.d's!
anonymous - 25 May 2003 03:32
Sit it comfort or shake ya booty, the choice is yours!
Duane Farr - 15 May 2003 20:09
Great clubby pub with good dancefloor and excellent DJs. Stays open late, not far from kebab shop!
