I have to agree with the ryufamily the potters arms is like that very clicky and the locals are ignorant and the barman can be grumpy but he is very friendly to be honest. When i first started going in there for a long time i felt like i had no right to be there but i wanted to so let no one drive me away, it is a friendly pub but again you are right it is friendly amongst the locals. I dont know if i was in there the day you was but if i was i appologise for my rudeness.

UN-BELIEVEABLE!!! So we've just moved to the new area and figured we'd try out the new local. I had a quick look online and it seems that not a good word can be said about this pub, other than one gentleman who seems to think it is a second home!

We've lived a few hundred metres away for a week now and so are more than familiar with the 'Great food at great value' signs outside. It is Sunday afternoon, we put our coats on and walk round to the pub.

We walk through the door and sure as hell, we get the same responce as others have... the whole pub turns around when you walk in and let's just say that you are not made to feel welcome! Nevermind I thought, if the food is good then who cares about the company. I walk up to the barman and ask for a menu. "We don't do food" he grunts, "try over on the quay".

Add me to the list of people who think that this pub is a waste of space - knock it down and build some more flats!

From now on my local will be the second most local, because this place is unacceptable. What I don't get is why, in a world where businesses are fighting to survive, a pub like this would rather have just a few regular locals and get by, than benefit from the increased population around them (over 1,600 flats being built within 100 metres of them!) and enjoy the benefits.

Despite the sign saying that the premises are to let, I feel that there might be grounds for hope, if they can hold out until something is done about loss-leader supermarket drinks' prices. Landlord welcoming, the place had a nice feel; even the customers' choice of music was OK. Ringwood Best fine, even if totally to be expected.

Please ignore all comments by "drink000" as :
A) he/she/it can only slag off all pubs..
B) The only "Coke" in here comes out of the dispenser along with lemonade/tonic etc..

There's a new partnership taken over (Edd and Emily) and they've made some wonderful improvements.
If you like Sky Sports etc theres a MASSIVE projection tv to watch the footy on etc, (The juke-box is pretty damn good too, just please no "Scooby-dooby-dooing" to the music!) (This means YOU Laurie Pickford!) plus there's a NEW pool table. (Not like the old one that seemed to have a bent slate!)

There's now some new food menu's including a "1 lunch menu", a "Curry and a pint menu" and the Sunday lunches have been reinstated. (YES, you did read that correctly- Lunchtime food for only a quid!)

(The defence rests.....)

New Years Eve?
Buy a ticket previously if you want to get in...
(I'm going to!)

What can I say?
This pub's just getting better and better!
The food's pretty good and very reasonable, there's no grumpy, fat b#stard behind the bar, and the Karaoke on Thursday's a scream....
(There's dogs howling outside the door!)(Not really!)
Even the carpet's clean enough to pass out on....

If you fancy a game of pool on Sundays then pop in, and I'll join you...

Try it, you'll like it!

This pub has recently changed hands and has made a marked improvement. The new Landlady has made many improvements, including new decor, new carpet, a Jukebox that you can actually choose what music you want to play, re-wiring (Lights so you can actually see your drink!) and a plasma tv..
The food is still great, and the Sunday lunch I had last week was very good value and also very tasty!
Disco's (remember those?) should be starting soon, and although we tried one the other Friday and the DJ broke down on the way, we just filled the Jukebox up with money and played 60's, 70's and 80's music all night. Great laugh!!!
If you're in the area, then don't listen to earlier comments, come on down and have a laugh! Tell them Reg sent you...(I play pool with a pink pool-cue, so I don't care!)
'Nuff said...

I can't really agree with "Millers" as it's my local.. Ok, sometimes some people just won't mix, but the Stella's always cold, and the barstaff are always friendly, and the food's most excellent..
The decor does need a lot of work, but I'm working on getting the landlord let me paint it up a bit...

The only real problem with this pub is there's an amnesiac virus lurking..

.......I keep forgetting going home!...

From my experience do not drink here if your not a local. I have drank here twice and have been totally ignored by barstaff and locals.
