Finally got round to visiting this highly recommended craft pub last week and a thoroughly enjoyable experience it was too. The fella behind the bar let me sample a couple before I went for a lovely Moor beer. At £3.40 a pint it was very reasonable for central London. Great choice of beers that understandably get more expensive as they get stronger. Looking forward to my next visit.

Given its location I was pleasantly surprised by this pub. Good selection of ales, reasonably priced for the area, £3.20 for the Redemption session pale for example. The 7 of us turned a corner of WC1 into Colchester. We mostly stuck to the Redemption, the Morhop?, hazy and floral, and the amber ale from Bristol. I can imagine it being horrendously packed and noisy on a wet, cold night when you can't spill out to the pavement, but for a summer evening it was pretty good. The stairs to the toilets as one reviewer commented are winding but no worse than those in the Harp, and the gents was reasonably clean and at least had soap in the dispensers even if the hand drier didn't work. Will definitely go again as it seemed very convenient for all of us, good range of ale, good pricing and pretty competent staff. Solid 7/10

Smart little bar at the top end of Sicilian Avenue. Decor is minimalist with a vaguely retro feel. Chalkboards behind the bar display the beers on offer in a somewhat confusing manner. There are around sixteen beers available in cask or keg. I had two pints of Siren Soundwave, which was superb.
Well worth a visit.

I wanted to like this pub, but I won't be rushing back. The two pints we had tasted wrong, and it was cold and uncomfortable with sticky tables (what ever happened to beermats?). I especially disliked the coffee shop style floor-to-ceiling glass walls. I don't go to the pub to stare out of the window, and who wants to see me getting pissed as they trudge home?

The beer range was very good and the barman was really nice.

Paid a return visit to the Holborn Whippet yesterday. I'm still not too taken with the interior. But this pub has a good location on Sicilian Avenue, not far from Holborn tube or the British Museum. Cask ales on yesterday were Redemption Rock The Kazbek, Marble Manchester Bitter, Siren Under Current, Oakham JHB & Scarlet Macaw & Instant Karma Brambling Porter. There is also a good keg section, including Aspalls Harry Sparrow cider. Not a bad pub. But it's only a short 5-10 minute walk to the new Craft establishment on High Holborn with its 14 cask ales, 1 real cider and many more keg and bottle options. It's fairly new and not listed on here just yet.

Mightily impressed with this place.
Superb cask beer selection when I visited.
There was also a "craft keg" selection also.
I stuck to the Kent Brewery Altered States and Cobnut. Tried a Mallinsons Cascade before leaving.
All beers well under £4 each and in superb condition.
I now know where to come on my next London pub excursion.

Super cask beer list for such a central location. Outside drinking and strong food menu. Popular spot for pre west end crowd on a Sat night. Not too trendy.

A small craft bar tucked away down Sicilian avenue, the range of craft and cask beers available are displayed on blackboards wrapped around a central brick pier, from which the beer is also dispensed, On my visit the beer was very well kept , maybe the modern interior is not to everyones taste ,but I would say its well worth a visit for the beer alone. It can get busy.
