Blakes will re-open as the Dark Horse on Friday 28 July 2006

Still not open even though it appears to have been done up to reopen as Dark Horse - apparently they are having problems with the gas.

It has closed down!

This pub appears to have closed down - unless they know January is a bad month for going out.

Despite the comments above I booked a table at the last minute in the restaurant. The food and wine were excellent and the service timely and attentive. Although the prices were not cheap the quality of food and wine could have merited much higher prices. This was the best meal I have eaten in Camberwell this year and I will certainly be returning.

a group of 10 of us appeared there for lunch and were the only people in there. We waited for 2.5 hours for food, plates randomly arrived with pathetically tiny portions at 10 minute intervals. Waitresses very good looking but after nearly 3 hours of waiting even they get boring to look at; apparently the chef had locked himself in the cold room causing extra delay.

Food was too salty when I went to the restuarant, and agree with Beryl re:prices. There does seem to 'lets see how much cash we lift from your wallet' feeling about the drinks menu too. The waitress service is FAR too in your face. Nice try to add something different...but IT'S A PUB! Much preferred it as the crappy old Kerfield Arms.

Went to the restaurant upstairs but made a quick exit after looking at the menu - typical poncey fare at rip-off prices (and there was no one else up there).
Retreated downstairs to the pub which was better - even though it was full of the usual Camberwell types. Food was pretty rubbish i thought, especially the puddings. Still, our waitress forgot to charge us for any of our drinks so we left on a high - it would have been gutting to pay what it should have cost considering it was pretty poor.
By the way - how pointless or irrelevant does your comment have to be before they remove it?

Blakes, eh? Formerly the Kerfield Arms. For more than 150 years there has been a Kerfield Arms, on the corner of Kerfield Road, in Camberwell. And now, the new owners change its name. Why? Its just destroying another small bit of local history. And do the owners think that even one single extra customer has entered their pub because of its name change? Apart from that, the food is good, but the lack of any real beer in favour of bland Eurofizz, is a shocking travesty.

Great place for drinking and eating, bar food downstairs which is very good (steak baguette is yum), lovely resturant upstairs. Music is not too loud on Friday and Saturday nights which is a change for Camberwell as many of the bars catering to a youngish crowd crank the music up about 10pm.
