Cosy and unruined little pub on the main drag between Wandsworth and Clapham Junction. Fullers beers including Seafarers Ale. Quiet on a Saturday aftenoon for some reason, it seemed like a pleasant pub to me.

Quick pint of London Pride here. Excellent !
The photo on here, of the inside, is the wrong pub? its much nicer & very friendly

Called here for the 1st time ever today. Pub looked ok and (appeared) to offer a good beer selection. However an obviously inexperienced barhand wasn't sure which beers were actually available - I opted for the Brains which he thought was "on." Despite my wife being directly next to me he didn't immediately ask what she wanted, proceeded instead to turn away to the til. She then asked for a small white wine and would have just been given the first bottle he came to had we not stopped him to ask what choice there might be (apparently there were 2 other options on the wine list at the tables, but these were not offered). The operative then had to ring for instructions! I accept staff have to learn, but shouldn't be left to fend for themselves unsupervised.

I had a very enjoyable visit to this little Fullers pub ( a good walk up the hill from Clapham Junction station)A friendly atmosphere and I had a half of Fuller's Fools Gold and a half of Liberation Ale (from Jersey) - both of which were in good nick. They do food and have TVs for sport and it was a very pleasant visit and one to be repeated.

Pub is in Battersea, not Wandsworth (SW18).

After a bus ride from the Red Cow in Sheen we arrived at another Fullers pub...I have certainly visited a few of these today!

The hand pump range consisted of London Pride, ESB & London Porter. I opted for a bottled ale (the name escapes) me but my 2 colleagues both had Pride and said it was excellent.

Busy, old fashioned & cozy are the words I would use to described this pub along with very traditional....worth a trip up the hill from Clapham Junction station.

Pub 6 of my crawl and my notes begin to go down hill.

Saying that nice Fullers House. Friendly service and clientele. What a pub should be like.

4 Fullers Ales on. My ESB was excellent.

untouched my the changing area and all the better for it.

Superb, small pub in a quiet location an inconveniently long, steeply uphill walk from Clapham Junction.

The pub is, in many respects, a country pub transplanted to south west London. Cheerful, friendly staff and a slightly rustic decor create a delightful, cosy atmosphere. Chairs, as I frequently remark, are often overlooked, and here they are deep, cushioned and comfy.

This is a Fullers house, with Pride, ESB and Elsie Mo on tap at the time of my visit. I enjoyed a smooth, well-kept pint of the latter, perhaps the cause of some bias as this is a favourite ale of mine at present.

Televisions are strategically positioned throughout the bar for sky sports. Some lovely old pictures on the walls and a classic 1950s jukebox.

A fine hidden treasure, worth an effort as it's the sort of place to stay for a while. As close to a quiet countryside village pub as I've seen in a while in London. Great place, can only mark it down on beer choice.

8/10

Last post wildly misses the point. In an area dominated by huge, modern factory 'pubs' and run-down locals that confuse grubbiness with 'character', the Beehive is a beacon of what a true local is; comfortable for locals, welcoming of strangers, good beer served well.

I had a cracking Saturday night here a couple of weeks ago with good mates, good talk, great beer, excellent tunes and marvellous hospitality from Rick, Sue and 'Bouncer' (not a real bouncer). Just the sort of pub worthy of support.

Boring - all in one square shaped room, bar feels like a counter that was just plonked down in the middle of the room. Crap
richakn - 24 Jun 2010 21:11
Called in early Sat 27th before Wandsworth Beer Festival, very nice pint of Fullers Swing Low
boroboy23 - 29 Mar 2010 17:47
I was disappointed by this. 4 pumps on, but only Pride and ESB being dispensed, two from each. Judging by the below comments, this is a regular arrangement, and it is baffling considering the array of pump clips they have arranged around the back bar which indicates at a wide range of previous guests.

This is a small, one-room pub that was fairly empty on a saturday early evening with the Arsenal on. As a fullers fan I don't mind it, but it certainly isn't memorable or noteworthy in any way,
ChrisP87 - 3 Oct 2009 11:14
As stated below, 4 pumps but just Pride and ESB on. I opted for the ESB which was served in a proper marked stemmed glass and was well kept.
I see what others mean about the lightly coloured wooden tables, I certainly prefer dark wood but despite this it is not an unpleasant spot. A single room with the bar to one side, exposed black timber ceiling beams (which I'm sure are decorative not functional), reddish wainscotted walls, pictures, mirrors etc. A collection of dictionaries, film guides, music reference books and the GBG are available, I assume to settle a few discussions.
Two tables outside have limited appeal facing the road and traffic. Food looked honest basic fare at good value, eg sandwiches 2.95, all day breakfast 5.50, spag bol 4.50.
I'm not sure if the music came from the jukebox or some 1972 K-tel album; "I'dLike to Teach the World to Sing" came on at one point!
In all a no frills honest boozer.

This is a Fullers pub, but with only Pride and ESB on. I had the Pride, which was OK. This is a small one-room pub on the main road. There are a few stools round the bar, and the remaining furniture consists of the sort of tables and chairs you might find in an upmarket caff. Thats not a criticism, just an observation. The walls are adorned with old photographs of Wandsworth, and prints of old London. There are a couple of ficus benjaminii in large pots, but centre stage is occupied by what looks like an antique, or perhaps art deco, jukebox. It was pretty quiet on a Wednesday lunchtime with only a couple of regulars in, and with only (what I assumed to be) the landlord serving he had to go and make the sandwich I ordered himself leaving the bar unattended. It seems to be that sort of place. All things considered, its a decent enough simple little pub that I would be happy to visit again.
RexRattus - 20 Mar 2009 18:54
This is far from your run-of-the-mill Fullers pub, but it serves its purpose well and the barman that I met was very hospitable. There are four ale pumps, two of which were serving up Pride and the other two ESB. There are also a few standard lagers etc. to choose from.

There is a plasma screen on the back wall and another TV above the front door.

This is a great place for a few beers, but Im not sure I would want to stay all evening.
Strongers - 10 Feb 2009 06:52
Located a ten minute walk from Clapham Junction, The Beehive on St Johns Hill is a great little pub. Its a Fullers pub with ESB and London Pride on tap as well as a couple of other mainsteam lagers for any passing plebs.

Staff & locals are friendly and although there is a jukebox this is more your classic local boozer for an afternoon pint than a saturday night party venue.

Recommended.

Not sure what Rachaelov has been drinking ... was in there a couple of weeks ago and it looks like it always did, so no need to worry. It remains a simple, unpretentious local pub. Great place for a quiet pint. The two old lads by the bar seem to be permanent fixtures.
Tweak_Head - 25 Oct 2008 17:59
W'happened?? Puke green walls, pine furniture, bright lights? I visited this years ago and remember it as a decent boozer - small, comfy, good ale. Being in the area I made an effort to walk up from clapham junction. Wont be doing that again. Deserted at 8pm saturday. And I can see why. Only die hard locals remain, and they don't seem very happy. The paint work looks like it was slapped on by a drunken teenager. Beer passable. Avoid.
rachaelov - 22 Dec 2007 20:43
I previously thought the eagle was the only decent pub in this area and was pleasantly surprised to find theres 2! Its in the camra real ale guide and the nottingham gold went down a treat. definately worth the 5-10 min walk up the hill from clapham junction
shevz - 10 Oct 2007 13:35
Reasonable, small, friendly local north of Wandsworth Common. Somewhat quiet, though our visit was at 11.30 on a Saturday morning. Very nice pint of Gale's Seafarer, though would have also liked the option of Fuller's Chiswick. Not a bad jukebox either.
Dartitis - 21 Sep 2007 14:04
A really nice local pub situated on St. Johns Hill. Decently priced drinks served by friendly staff, live music every Thursday night and you may even get treated to a rendition of American Pie by the Landlord! It is a fun night out.
No garden but benches out front for the days.

Lunch is served 11-3pm and it is all traditional English food, also very fairly priced. A real nice local pub to be.
goldfishtwin - 1 May 2007 14:15
Hadn't been here for years, popped back in on a Sat lunchtime. Very quiet, and a not very good pint of ESB. Bit disappointed.
hotrods - 28 Jan 2007 08:03
Had a guest beer on on my recent visit - Goddards from the Isle of Wight. Rather an average unremarkable pub in many respects, but the light pine wooden furniture puts me off
JohnBonser - 2 Nov 2006 13:05
The building has a similar shape to Project Orange but the pub itself is very different.

Will2 - 11 Aug 2006 21:12
Come here for a fuller's pub. unsuprisingly doesnt sell london porter. can try the pride, but i didnt like the way it tasted here. you can always entertain yourself by reading a real ale newsletter, but not one of the best pubs i've been to 3/10
aleman - 11 Aug 2006 17:21
Small pleasant locals pub - had better Pride though
mtaylor40 - 2 Jul 2006 19:52
We always pop in here on the crawl from Clapham Junction to Craven Cottage if going up for a match. The ESB and London Pride are always fantastic, the staff are friendly and the place is relaxed.
owenr - 23 May 2006 03:02
Very local. The barman looked positively scared of us. Nice pub though. Shame it's a bit to far to be considered one of my "locals".
anonymous - 20 Feb 2006 17:00
Well, following my visit yesterday lunchtime, I thought that I ought to "update" my previous posting in October 2004. I still don't like the refurbishment - particularly the light brown coloured wooden seats and bare floorboards - but this is now a friendly, welcoming and otherwise traditional local, which I would definitely go back to. I particularly welcomed having 2 TV sets, which meant that I could see Paula Ratcliffe's progress in the marathon on one set and watch the Test Match on the other set by the front door simply by turning my head in the other direction. The TV's are not obtrusive or overloud, so dont dominate the pub to the detriment of conversation. This pub doesn't do food any more, but was nevertheless quite busy for an early Sunday afternoon. Good customer mix - the locals are friendly - and the London Pride was spot on. Well worth seeking out if in the area.
JohnBonser - 15 Aug 2005 13:10
Beer is much improved - but the refurbishment is for the worse, all character and atmosphere has been destroyed. Very disappointing
John - 14 Oct 2004 13:48
GOOD NEWS! Got this from the new landlord.
"Yes, it closed on the 19th, but not for a
'young-persons' makeover. It is being updated with a
traditional feel and the beer will be much improved.
It might no longer be an 'old-fashioned boozer' but
it's certainly not going to be a 'young-persons' pub."
REOPENING 29th April 2004 and it all sounds very hopeful indeed.
Ian - 21 Apr 2004 19:02
Closing on 19th April 2004. Apparently to be given a 'young - persons' makeover. Its last days as an old-fashioned boozer have seen it fall into decrepitude. Very average beer and only worth visiting for the last rites. Sad end to what was once one of the best traditional pubs in SW London.
ianbeer - 5 Apr 2004 00:53
The last time I visited the beer was quite good (Fullers pride & Esb) and the atmosphere is quite friendly. A wide selection of background music on minidisc. No food. I found the place to be quite relaxed and welcoming.
lad_newton - 15 Sep 2003 18:19
Oh when will Fullers get some one to run this local pub who understands how to keep beer rather than the slops that seem to appear whenever I visit. Also looking rather tired nowadays
ESB_Chris - 4 Jun 2003 16:00
A Fullers Pub in Wandsworth (home of Youngs) - a rare treat, although a bit of an old mans pub.
