user reviews of the White Hart, South Woodford

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Now empty after Mojoe lost its late licence following years of violence and anti-social behaviour. It became a nightclub by stealth and subterfuge and £130,000 of legal costs later the council has finally shot its fox.
Nice to be able to walk past again without being assailed by drunks and having to negotiate barriers.

It's NOT the White Hart, it's been Funkymojoe for at least two years. Never understood why BITE removed the facility to report changes, closures etc, too much work to keep the site up to date I suppose. Anyway it's not my type of establishment now so cannot comment on the changes since the White Hart days. No rating given.

No longer even a pub but a night club which is a very bad neighbour., blocking the pavement with its fencing and tents. Fifty yards of cones obstructing the cycle lanes make it quite dangerous to pass. Surly, offensive and ignorant bouncers.
I now cross the road to avoid it.

offthewagon, you really should get a life, maybe you should try going out to thhese places more rather than sitting on this website slagging them off.

This 'Funky Place' has only been opened a month and last weekend there was a SHOOTING outside to go with the mass punch up and glassing of a young girls face a few weeks ago!!! (see below) You can about it on the 'Wanstead and Woodford Guardian' website. All this next to an old peoples home! How do they get away with it???? The odds for the first fatality must be falling dramatically! I'm walking on the opposite side of the road from now on!

Years ago I used to use the Pub, it used to be a nice place but like many other large pubs in the area, the proliferation of bars and clubs that opened during the late 90's and onwards killed the trade as only the older regulars continued to use it... not been in there since the re-furb, heard it was full of youngsters...

What happened Friday, someone told me there was a shooting outside?????

Massive brawl outside here after one week of opening and next day a girl was glassed in the face by another girl inside. Looks like the making of a troublesome place. Traffic builds up outside as Chavs get dropped off in Chavmobil 4x4's and the like. Bouncers and 'stewards' in reflective jackets parade outside. All this going on next door to retirement flats! How they get away with it is beyond belief. I just wonder why they just didn't make it a nice traditional pub.

offthewagon ur not bitter enough are ya lol stay in the bell for cheap ugly people like ya self !

After Pingu finally destroyed this pub, I decided to pop in an see what all the fuss was with the re-opened 'MOJO's'.

It is basically the same but they have extended it, bought some paint and trebled the prices, oh and it is a night club now. In the window, there are some cheap sticker signs saying 'EAT and DRINK at MOJO's'
I think they left out 'FIGHT' The place was full of coke head types, fake tanned idiots wearing sunglasses indoors. I do not give the place long as the traffic gets held up outside when the Chav's pull up to make their grand entrances and it causes havoc.

And I wouldn't want a tight fisted moron like you where I'm working now anyway.
Pingu - 29 May 2008 23:31
Well Offthewagon07, before shooting your mouth off you should find out the facts. I simply ran this place for the last few months before it closed. And for your information by using it as a band venue earnt a hell of alot of money. It was the owners who refused to spend money on something they were going to sell. So keep your useless opinions to yourself you brainless cretin!
Pingu - 29 May 2008 23:28
Nice of you PINGU to admit to running this place finally into the ground! Where are you working now? Bet that is a place to avoid!
offthewagon07 - 24 Feb 2008 12:21
I used to run this pub before the current refurb began. I'm glad to be out of there really but I have to say I met some fantastic people while working there. The new owners seem to be flying with their development, it should be a quality addition to the area.

The White Hart is being done up at the moment. They're knocking down the side bar and building a conservatory extension. Hopefully all the yuppies from Queen Mary's Gate will demand a decent boozer. Does anyone know if Mick and Kiwi are still going? beep beep beep beep yeah

This place seems to be on its knees and dying. Broken furniture and flaking paint work. The rest of this area has nice shops and restaurants. The brewery must have something up its sleeve?
offthewagon07 - 24 Nov 2007 13:50
agreed. absolute hovel.
considering the hundreds of new flats being built round here, you would have thought someone would make a killing by giving the pub a complete refurb.
it is mostly empty and dying on it's arse.

maybe they'll tear it down and stick even more flats where it stood.
slurper01 - 3 Oct 2007 17:32
Bloody awful. I'm amazed it's still open as it feels like you're in someone's garage with a pool table. Always geezers in there looking to prove something. Why honestly bother when there are far nicer places to frequent? Enough said?
anonymous - 24 Aug 2007 11:46
This pub is a total hole however i will continue to drink there. After about six pints its all the same.
Its a mans pub what do you want
guinnesss - 23 Jan 2007 18:42
this place is a hole- refurbish it quickly it needs it badly
anonymous - 23 Dec 2006 01:32
The White Hart is about to undergo a complete refurbishment. It'll be gutted out and almost a million quid will be spent doing it up. The horseshoe bar that once was will be replaced in the shape of a kidney shaped bar running through the heart of the pub and out into the garden where there will be a reclining conservatory roof for the summer. Flat screen TV's will line the walls, while the decor will be bright and the furnishings garnished in leather. Should be completed some time in 2007.
Pingu - 4 Sep 2006 15:46
If you've always wanted the experience of a pub falling silent and all the regulars staring at you when you go in then the White Hart is worth a visit. Otherwise, there is nothing to recommend it. I give it a rating of 1 for actually serving beer.
griff74 - 7 Jun 2006 16:19
As the other guys said ...it is very clicky.Cheap beer though early eve and decent footy. How it makes any money is beyond me as I've never seen it busy except when there's been a big England game on.Can't imagine why it's got the nickname "White Lines".Used to have a brilliant horseshoe shaped bar about 10 yrs ago but then they moderized it and it now totally lacks character.
Been in with my brother on a Sat when they had a disco...we made the numbers up to about 16...very sad but hilarious

A dirty old boozer, but that works in its favour as you're guaranteed a table on a Friday night.
drbee - 23 Dec 2005 11:50
agree with pete. Can be a very clicky pub.

Good for watching sport

Not really a family pub.
Lembo - 25 Nov 2005 15:47
Wouldn't bother visiting this pub - it's got a group of around 15-20 regulars that once they get to the bar don't allow any one else to get served! Cheap beer 5-7 through the week (that's if you can get served!)

Otherwise full of older people, gets younger as the evening progresses.

Great drinking hole, brilliant for watching football. KARAOKE on friday's is fun, and it's nice for a quick drink.
Jaris - 7 Dec 2003 09:56
Located opposite Waitrose in South Woodford. This pub is quite large and spacious. Good selection of beverages and snacks. Kareoke on Friday is such a laugh! Disco on saturday not so! Best place for watching sport. Big screen and 3 other tvs. Pool table, dart board and good drinking!
