Pleased to report that this Saturday there were two very friendly bar girls (Alex and Yohanna) who could both mix a good cocktail. The bar man was a jovial chappy too.

Extremely stroppy service from the barmaid on Saturday afternoon has meant that this is no longer one of my preferred bars. The bar was not busy, but our order for two drinks was met with rudeness and aggression. We were sober and polite. Bar staff should be too.

The previous reviews sum this place up quite nicely. Cocktails and shooters were good. Bar staff varied from friendly to stroppy. Clientele included more women than men,and some very attractive ones at that. Lighting subdued; vibe cool.

Particularly inviting for a clandestine afternoon cocktail. Must respond to bikingtiger - Islington is full of great bars and pubs - but very few of them are on Upper Street.

Nice little bar, this. And there aren't many in Islington you can say that about. Good atmosphere, comfortable if you can get a seat, and food's OK for snacks.

it's always lovely in here. it's a tiny place so gets quite packed, but the staff do mix excellent cocktails and they are genuinely friendly. a perfect place to meet people for a few drinks before going out. low lighting and a few elegant touches give it an exciting atmosphere. you can be dressed up or just hanging out - it's always a good place to start an evening.

Excellent local off the beaten path with a great beer garden for lounging in the summer or on the way home from work and serves great food. So good a mate from Walthamstow considers it a local. Also used to be a pub quiz last winter on Tuesday nights.

An Islington secret and its a great place to drop in before and after Arsenal matches. Helpful staff, great food and excellent music. Wine a bit expensive, but hey!

One of my favorite N1 bars - it's a bit off the main drag so you can generally get a seat - cosy, nice decor, great cocktails & friendly staff - perfect for a cheeky post-work drink... or six

I love this place but I don't want to say that too loudly as the Upper Street massive have yet to infiltrate this great little place. Don't listen to "Jules" - the cocktails are excellent and mixed by pros.

Awesome bar, great atmosphere and cracking staff. Perfect food on a sunday afternoon also.

This pub epitomises Highbury & Islington / Hoxtonite pretention. The Guardian-reading champagne-socialist clientele, whilst being very fashionable and attractive, bored and depressed me with their bland uniformity and I had to leave, or else get a more conformingly fashionable haircut and tear my jeans a bit. The cocktails were OK but nothing that special, so I wouldn't bother if I were you.

Lager only. Ill-conceived policy of reserving tables. Is it a restaurant or a pub? Can't have it both ways. Sterile and dull.

Lovely cocktails - the passion is a real treat on a sunny crisp Saturday afternoon with a couple fo their little tapas dishes

Great little pub just off Upper Street in Islington. Good food, friendly bar staff and great atmosphere. Possibly the best pub in Islington!
