Have only just discovered it's closed. Maybe on health and safety grounds! Totally unsurprised.

Closed down in March 2018.

In my experience, albeit only once and never again, you wipe your feet on the way out. Utterly dreadful.

A very basic pub,but i liked it. If around here i would use it again.

Went in here yesterday. Before going to the Valley to watch Tottenham ladies V Blackburn
Great, basic old school pub. Decent pint, friendly locals and Bar staff. What's not to like. Enjoyed it so much, we went back after the game. Would definatly pop in again if in the area

Unpleasent waste of space. Dropped in at 12.05pm on a Saturday to find a dark confused place that should no real beer. Asked the only sign of life if they were showing the test match, said barmaid struggled to work the system. Tow Guiness ordered later two other bits of staff walk in and within 3 minutes have put on some load drum and bass and turned the TV to golf....exit stage left with pal with horrid drink left behind. When Leeds play Charlton this season I recommend the mass of the Yorkshire support use the place in the way they always use pubs close to away ground and the rest of us will drink in the Princees Of Denmark....

i popped in on the way down to the river for a walk.they have a wierd little italian behind the bar.......(not sure about him).....could have mafia conections !!!! not the best selsction of beers ,but the black stuff was ok

Here on Saturday for the early kick off between the Bees and Charlton ... I can only repeat the report from 9/5/07
Poor choice of beer but at anticipated prices, close to the station and ground.
Lots of staff and plastic (expected) glasses (sic.)
Beware the lose shelf to the right of the bar, people lean on it and the beer slides off!!!

I came here with 4 others (2 Spurs fans) Bank Holiday Monday night shortly before Charlton's last home game of the season (7 May). Considering the Addicks relegation, it was a poignant pre match drink for me given my pre match pessimism.

Anyway, this place was packed of Spurs fans being the main "away" boozer when visiting Charlton. Needed to show tickets to enter. The "pumping" music playing in here gave the feel of being in a night club as opposed to going to a football match. Wooden dcor was very basic, with sticky floor where we were standing, but we just wanted a quick drink so did not really care.

Decent enough boozer for away fans though when visiting the Valley, conveniently located a stone throw away from Charlton station. I am sure those supporters of Cardiff, Stoke and Burnley, for instance, will enjoy this place if they come to the Charlton game next season

This bar has recently undergone a great new re-furb -- it is now equipped with leather sofas, fully stocked bar, pool table, open fireplace and flat screens. The bar is large, so it means you can go off to a different area if you are a non-smoker. The staff is great, and there is always a great atmosphere. It also has a bed & breakfast should you have too much to drink and need a place to stay! Highly recommended.

Currently under new management and being refurbished, fingers crossed we will get a 4th decent pub in SE7!

always my choice for pre match pint when chelsea in town, good service and not bad pint, bit tatty but considering footy pub for away fans no point being too poncey, ideal for station, and will be back next season

Aesthetically, not the best of pubs but it comes in handy for a pre match drink before Charlton matches (note it is usually closed after games). They also allow in away fans (strange considering the name of the pub implies that foreigners are not welcome) quite handy as they get dropped off from their coaches virtually opposite the pub. The 2 bars are crammed on match days but there is usually some space to be found in the ballroom annex in the main bar. I dont go there very often but generally find the service pretty good in the circumstances but the beer selection is very limited. The ballroom is probably the only feature worth commenting on with a raised dais at either end, skylights and a large if somewhat outdated low tech TV in the corner. I am sure there used to be a couple of pool tables but no sign of them on my recent visit. The pub is very much a take me as you find me sort of place and on match days there is at least a bit of atmosphere but generally, not really a place to spend too much time.

Not been here for years now but used to be an excellent meeting place - was never busy when we went which was usually in the evening. Guess it gets busy on match days but should be busy other days - from what I remember this is a big pub and does have potential

Rough on the outside, rougher on the in. thought i saw six people coming out, but was later told it was a staff fire drill.
moncrief - 8 Jan 2006 11:12
Not bad at all, though plastic glasses on some match days. Basically an away fans pub when Charlton playing, with accompanying heavy police prescence outside. Big screen TV for Sky Sports football.

Handy only for the close proximity to the station. Not unfriendly, but lifeless and drab inside. Lager not especially well treated

under the new management of married couple, liverpool lady, tracey and Irish Guy Dave. Beer is great and cheap. Wide selection of other beers. Guiness is the best around. Atmosphere is fantastic and has live music.

This pub is now under new management, very friendly, good atmosphere both on football days and on normal days. extremely clean and spacious. Bed and Evening meal very reasonable with fantastic home cooking. sky sports on huge wife screen telly. snooker and darts are both played here and the beer is great.

Good pub for match days. Cheap beer and fans can mix.

Went there for the footie and it was nowhere near as bad as the previous posts suggest.

The Masterbrew at 2 a pint was good and the locals were friendly. Not as rough as it looks.

used to be a good rock pub now just a rough pub where if your face dont fit dont go in
andy - 5 Jan 2004 17:19
And where I said Napeolic I of course mean Napoleonic. It's too early in the morning...
snowman - 19 Jul 2003 09:18
Anti gallican means anti-french. It dates back to the Napeolic war when soldiers would come back from fighting and open up a pub with their pay. There used to be lots of pubs called Antigallican, but this is now the last one in London.
snowman - 19 Jul 2003 09:17
What does Antigallican mean or refer to?
Ray Taylor - 16 Jun 2003 17:09
No Big Screen
No Sky Sports
No Pool Table anymore!
Tom Marshall - 14 May 2003 13:05
This is where the police get away fans to drink at Charlton games - make what you will of that!
Darryl - 27 Apr 2003 23:36
Sorry but a real dive obviously been smashed up by Millwall fans too many times in past. Not in the Premier league like the football club. Management got rid of both Sky and pool table so now absolutely no reason to go in
