I used to drink here 10 years ago and loved it then. I am still a customer to this day and still love going down there. Truth is, they had to change the format of the place as the jazz, other live bands and ales were starting to become less and less popular - being a regular you could see the difference from one year to another. It's depressing when there's only 8 people in the entire place watching a band!

Sure, you could go to a big nightclub 20 miles away in Southampton or Bournemouth, spend £4.50 for a drink, then share a £50 taxi ride home but give the staff of Longs some credit - they are very dedicated and give their all to make sure people who make the effort to come down have a good, fun and safe night. My friends and I love the DJ on Saturday nights :)

Detritus. This place has gone right down the pan. Ten years ago it used to be a nice little venue. Some decent ales, jazz on a Wednesday and Sunday. A range of people turning up. Nowadays its just the kids. Kids euro fizz booze, no space, cramped - well it is on a saturday. Good maybe if you want to dance to the sounds of Chaka Demus and Pliers, rubbish for a proper drink and chat with your pals. Best off going to a night club for this sort of caper - not trying to squeeze a night club into a boozer. Bloody daft.

When all the Penno Scum leave the Sportsman they end up down here and lower the tone. Other than that, not a bad place. Beer is not exactly what the place thrives on. The music is great, the venue is fine, the eye candy is worth the hastle, especially during the summer when the Yotty Totty is in town

Longs is a great place to go in Lymington. It has the only real late night licence until 2a.m.The punters and staff are all really friendly. Get there early on a friday or saturday as it gets really busy. You will have to wait outside otherwise! The bar has a DJ Thurs, Fri, Sat. and Karaoke on Wed. Bands play on a Sunday night.
There website is now www.longsbar.com as its been urgraded recently.

Great place to go party! Open till 2am Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays with a DJ. Sundays there are some quality bands from the area - Eddie Vortex, The Reptiles and Pure Trouble are a must-see when they're playing. There's a gig listing, photo gallery and other stuff on their website www.longs-bar.co.uk

'Schlongs' - what a place. Many a great night in here listening to 'black magic woman'. Atmospheric, packed, busy, a struggle at the bar, but well worth it for some post 11pm drinking!

I agree that 'Trouble in Mind' are excellent, but there are alot of other acts that deserve merit. Its a very different experience to all the other places in Lymington and I recommend it. I've not had a bad night down there!

Longs is a real treat. The music is hot - and the cellar gets even hotter on popular nights when just about everyone seems to be there. Choose your night well, though, depending on your musical taste -- If "Trouble in mind" are playing you can't go wrong!
