Keelman, Newburnback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
After a visit to the excellent Wig's Place in High Spen (not listed on here), our penultimate stop was the Keelman. This is the brewery tap for the Big Lamp brewery, housed in the middle of nowhere in a former pumping station. There were 4 ales, all from Big Lamp - Keelman Brown, Sunny Daze, Bitter & Prince Bishop's Ale. The Keelman Brown was ok, without being anything special. The place has a nice open interior, set over two floors. It's a nice setting, with the feel of a country home. Moved on from here to the Wylam Brewery in Newcastle, which is also missing from the site.

Visited here twice now and on both occasions, found a friendly welcome. Great selection of good beers from the Big Lamp brewey in great surroundings. The food on our last visit was fine and the atmosphere is really nice.

stayed 3 nights at the keelmans, excellent brewery tap for the big lamp beers, good quality food lovely setting.

Interesting conversion of industrial premises, a mix of old and contemporary. Full selection of Big Lamp beers and large food menu - although I hav'nt tried food yet. Situated in Tyne Riverside Country Park so ideal for families.

stayed here twice in the accommodation, this is a great place ,wonderful big lamp beers at great prices.food was very good too.good to see plenty of people drinking and eating on a saturday in january.

brilliant pub with good food and real local ales (you can't get much more local that over the road!) "Big Lamp" ales are the main ales served. Prince Bishop, Big Lamp Bitter, Sunny Daze, Summerhill Stout, to name a few.
the bar area is quite small, but the outdoor seating is massive and gets especially busy in the summer with the people coming in from the local country park and walkways. Nothing beats a pint of "Sunny Daze" outside on a hot summers day.

big lamp brews all first class, would have been interesting if it had been raining as its a small bar but a must visit place for beer lovers.

Out of the way Brew Pub. The Big Lamp Brewery is next door. Clean & comfortable. Plenty of outdoor seating. Serve, I presume, the full range range of Big Lamp Beers. The SummerDaze & Prince Bishop were very good. Decent pub lunch menu and sandwiches tried were very good. Very busy on our visit. As a result took a while to get served at the bar - though not helped by the waitress service offered to people inside as they seemed to get priority over the people stood at the bar. Was well worth the visit & will visit again.
