Some proper snobs on this website eh, if you don't like it, go and drink in the Plough for fucks sake.
Great pub, proper working class men's pub.

Continues downhill. 'Gentleman's Evening' coming up soon - complete with comedian and well, strippers to be frank. Great. For God's sake, you have a lovely garden, you're a traditional pub, in a really smart area. 'Gentleman's Evening'? Get a grip

The previous landlord and landlady ran a good house. They got rid of the miscreants who had a tendency to come here by standing for no nonsence and banning them. The new landlords were warned about the 'problems' with the druggies shall we say, but don't seem to be doing anything. I don't go in here anymore, and that's a shame as it was really good in here 5/6 months back, and the 2/3 years previous - a proper local.
I give it 6 months and it'll be shut.

Had good hopes for this pub when new landlord/lady took over - then the Plough and Harrow closed and all the dross from there moved in. Now they aren't allowed back in the Plough as that is back to being a decent pub. How the local "social" scene changes in such a small area.

Looks like the druggies from the Plough have started to move in this direction, so I hope the landlord puts a stop to this very quickly.

A regular little local pub with two ales on tap and doing a good lamb baguette (!) at Sunday lunchtime. I don't know what a 'drink drive' customer would be like as I don't drive, but everyone seemed allright in there to me.

There are new folk running this pub. There have been problems in the past with an unsavoury clientele which the previous landlord/landlady sorted out. Seems they are back - some dodgy folk hanging around when I was in a week or two back. This is in a pretty well-to-do area this pub, and very residential. Having kids running round in the garden shrieking, bouncy castles on a Bank Holiday, and folk swearing at the top of their voices out there too, will test the patience of the locals. Shame, as it was a right good local. Hope they can get a grip and turn things round - a proper community pub would do a right trade here.

Agree with anonymous (10 sept). Have been abused by a number of 'drink drive customers' recently....so have to ask the landlord what type of establishment he is running?????

Probably was a very pleasant little local once upon a time, now becoming increasingly unsavoury....and particularly popular with the drink drive crowd.
What a shame

If this place is a half mile from Thames Ditton station I'll eat my hat.
Anyway, unassuming, small (but big garden) back street boozer. Very much an old fashioned local, and there aren't many of them, so it should be cherished on that measure. Everybody knows each other and everyone talks to each other - if they want to, nobody pesters you. Varied clientele as the person below notes - all sections of the community. Some might look a bit scary, and there's a lot of effin' and blindin' goes on, but I've never seen any bother when I've been in. Suspect the landlord runs a tight ship. Sport on the tele a lot, mostly soccer, but the rugby will appear now and again, and the horses.

Went there for a darts match and the place was horrid. Apart from being so small ( which isnt thier fault) the bar staff were un friendly and the food was un cooked. The selection of beer wasnt too bad but overall I hope we dont play there again!

I love this place, me - well OK it is my local. But it is what a true 'public' house is all about. Everyone drinks in here: the chap on his own doing the cryptic crossword; the geezer reading his book; the women have a chat over a few wines; the couples after work; the philosophisers at the bar; the odd group of students and all the loud lads after their day at work spent painting, plumbing, sparking and roofing playing pool. Never any bother in here. Youngs beer generally OK - often tip-top; often another guest ale plus the usual lagers and wines. Oh, and it has a great 70s-style wood panelled bar and a decent garden. Thing is, it's hard to find - you'd never stumble across it. Well worth a detour for a relaxing snifter.
