please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

I believe this used to be a cider house. It's not quite anymore, with only one real cider as such. It also has a real ale. The ale was Mole's Elmo's Fire. The cider was Rich's Farmhouse. I read the previous comments on here not knowing what to expect. But they're all pretty much spot on. This is a small one-room pub on a roundabout, near the station. It feels run-down. The customers are extremely down-to-earth. The barman (owner?) was Irish. I turned around from the bar and saw only one spare table. This just happened to be the one situated next to the extremely inebriated young lady who was dancing and singing incorrect words to songs from the jukebox and not quite in tune. She was well endowed and very nearly popping out of her red dress. Two equally inebriated young ladies were egging her on, as she danced around me. For a few brief moments, I thought I'd entered a strip club and was about to be smothered. Other locals, some missing a few teeth were also keen for the young lady to dance and were furnishing the jukebox with enough coins to keep her going, a bit like the laughing clown at the seaside. The décor feels very dated. But as previous reviews have said, this is what gives it character. One rather strange feature was around a dozen dummies and a baby's milk bottle tied together with a piece of string on the corner of the bar. You'll either love this pub or you'll hate it. But this is very much part of what makes England what it is today. I loved the place. I wouldn't want it as my local. But there's free entertainment to be had here in an unadorned traditional Somerset market town hostelry. If you find yourself in Bridgwater, give it a try. 7/10.

Its about 15 years since I went in this place but I have never forgotten it.
The other comments have it about right and I only hope no-one has come in and spoiled it since. I assume YoYo meant this represents Bridgwater, but not in a good way!
It was nuts the night I went in and luckily I did not have a collar and tie on which I often do when I visit dodgy pubs. I think that dog behind the bar may have been set to work to eat me alive otherwise. Remember that scene in American Werewolf when they go in the pub on the Moors? Just like that! I have described it to many people as the dirtiest pub I have ever been in and I have been in a lot of dirty pubs.
However we need pubs like this and towns like Bridgewater to make Britain everything it is so more power to your cider elbows.

Absolute dive-moronic customers dribbling cider down their chins, everything tastes of cider even the crisps.

Definitely the best pub I have ever been in. Proper people and good cider.

Didn't get to have a drink in here as the barman seemed more interested in continuing his board game with the other three people in the bar rather than attend to new customers. Looks shut from the outside and once inside, you wish it had been. Lots more pubs nearby - whether they serve 'natch' or not I don't know, but drinking here would be a high price to pay for the privilege.

You can get a decent pint of cider in here (unbelievably the only pub in Bridgwater to sell proper cider). The landlord is also quite a friendly chap. You do need to take this place with a fairly hefty pinch of salt, but at least it's real.

If you had to choose one pub to represent Bridgwater, this would be it.

The online cider pub guide calls this a "faintly unbelievable pub". That proved about right.
I liked it but it will not suit everyone.
Mainly sells real ciders (I think there were some beers on sale as well) to a mainly local regular clientelle.
The human staff were friendly although the dog seemed very unused to any strangers being in the bar and kept hiding being chairs growling.
