Probably the least friendly pub in Aldburgh. Drinks are very expensive and the pub itself is characterless.
The staff and landlord act like they are doing you a favour when they serve you.
I agree with the earlier comment about the state of the toilets!

Basic pub but has charm and serves a good pint.

Best pub in Aldeburgh. Great beer, nice room, proper local atmosphere.

The Gents need to be cleaned! A foul smell exudes and can permeate the bar area. Shame, because its a wonderful place and would be the best pub around.

Nice pint of Purity Pure Gold. Didn't spend long in here. Simple and functional as previous reviewer said, but a pleasant enough place.
|
A simple, functional, quality boozer with excellent ales well kept; warm and cosy in winter, and next to the best chippy in the south (The Magpie in Whitby, since you are asking...) so why eat in there when theres a bench outside?

Popped in here on a day visit to this delightful town. Found a friendly pub popular with locals and visitors. There was a good selection of guest ales and two beers from Adnams on tap. I would certainly call in here again for a drink when I'm visiting and it's also next door to the renowned fish and chip shop in the town.

In some ways an attractive small, one-room pub. Decent beer, but indifferent food with no attention to detail. Hated having to endure the radio at midday. Difficult to avoid the impression that the landlord's heart is no longer in it.

Today is the last day of the summer solstice beer festival - with the best named beer of "Ginger Tosser" which made me chortle. As per usual a convivial atmostphere with folks pouring onto the street and a beer tent in the back yard. A very underestimated pub with nice clientele and good beverage stock. Just lacks seating

Great range of ales in this traditional pub.

Never fails to please. A pint of 'Wherry' and one of Adnams..Both perfection. Friendly and characterful customers; one gentleman standing at the bar had a cucumber in his pocket;- at least I think that's what it was.
|
A very lively pub with a mixed clientele but closing dead on 11 on a summer friday is a bemusing decision - maybe it's because the fish and chip shop opposite is also an early to bed affair.
The Tally Ho beer from Adnams is expensive and a bit treacly but has to be sampled. On my visit, a gargantuan Irish Wolfhound was propping up the bar. Characterful.

a cracking pub. very friendly, great music, nice setting, good beer... worth travelling for. only shame was that it closed so early!
|
great atmosphere though horribly smoky, good selection of live music - not much seating and quite small - in fact on warmer days many sit outside the front of the pub.
|
I agree with happy punter. It's a lovely cosy pub. Locals are quite friendly. Service good, beer good and the chippy next door is fantastic and uses dripping. Heaven !
|
Serves superb local Adnams beer. With the Fish and Chip shop next door a visit here can quite simply be one of the best nights out in Suffolk if not the East of Britain, for those that appreciate truly fantastic fish n chips and a pint. Awesome...

Great local pub with live music every weekend. You are guaranteed to get merry & drink a few too many ... go with the flow & let those hips swing to the various small bands that are passing through. Highly recommended and always good fun (just ignore the few glances when you first walk in - inquisitive regulars are no bad thing.
Oh, and next door is arguably the best and most popular fish and chip shop in England > be prepared to wait for over an hour with your White Horse beer in hand
