Perry Hill, Catfordback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
Hmm, very quiet for a Saturday lunch time, clearly going for the restaurant trade, thought the prices for food were good until I discovered that it was only a starter size (perhaps explains why it was so empty). So so Bombadier (and Pride on as well, so not particularly exciting).
Like most pubco places that think they are gastro, much of the charm seems to have gone in the refurb, to create yet another generic interior.
Clearly from postings here, and one really amusing one on the Dolphin at Sydenham, there are some fans. I am indifferent, and as far as proper pubs go the Rutland Arms is much missed, but at least the Blythe is in walking distance.
This was in 'Pubspy'in the News Shopper - I am warming to this and loosely agree with their comments (approx 3 stars out of 5)

This pub looks great, the outside area is fantastic for families and kids. It looks great inside and makes you feel special. The food is very high quality, the best sunday lunch I have had besides the Woodsman in Sydenham (which is simply incredible). The prices are reasonable and the portions realistic. Thank god there is a pub that doesn't have sticky carpet for a change. Much as I love old style boozers we need a selection. I think this is a great asset to the area.
I recommend it.

Huge improvement on the Two Brewers with great food and a really nice decked area at the back. A great improvement for the area.

Last time I was in they had Pride and Spitfire on. The Spitfire was fine and even came in a beautiful Spitfire glass which i must say is a rareity in South London. Visited again this Friday to find they are guesting IPA. Again the beer was fine. A great night out was had. Live Jazz music in the bar area. Both the Restaurant area and the bar was jumping. Still can't believe this is the old (run down) Two Brewers. Will definately be back!

It's time for a more balanced report of the new Perry Hill. I have visited 4 times and each time the cask ales have been in wretched condition: tired and lifeless. The 'pub' side of the place no longer has any comfortable seating - just straight-backed dining chairs, and incovenient sofas. There used to be some lovely old banquette seating in here, but the new managers ripped it all out. There are areas of comfortable bench seating in the 'restaurant' side, but if you dare to sit there without ordering any food, you are told to move. I won't be hurrying back, and I mourn the loss of yet another traditional old boozer.

Beautifully renovated and furnished in warm, aged wood. The winelist is good and sensibly priced, as is the excellent food - open kitchen area too so you can see what goes on. This place is obviously aiming at the same clientele as the nearby Dolphin in Sydenham but beats it hands down on everything - ambience, price, quality of food (the fish and chips is to die for - though they could give you a few more of their chips!)and both competence and enthusiasm of staff. I love this pub - it is a brisk 15 minute walk from my house but well worth the effort. Best pub in the neighbourhood by a long way.

just visted this one for the first time. Used to be the old Two Brewers. Must say the place looks beautiful inside. Good selection of beers (Super chilled Kronenboug Blanc on tap)Had a main course of Fish and chips which was simply brilliant. Restaurant was packed. This place will really be a big hit in the summer months. They have a huge decked garden area at that rear that must hold 150 people. Roll on the summer months

OK beer selection with both London Pride and Spitfire (though Spitfire ran out by 4.30pm) but the Sunday lunch I had there was quite simply stunning, possibly the best I have ever eaten. Great stuff and obviously a vast improvement on what went before.
