user reviews of the Cricketers, Swindon

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Nice to see there is somebody else from Swindon on here.
The main reason I haven't been back for a while is lack of Swindon interest 😉

Well spotted that this was my second "closed" post, this one was really because I was bored & to update about the sign (The Grapes was boredom too)

Still closed but with a big sign advertising that it's aa opportunity to be a landlord....I can't see it myself.

Closed.
Be surprised if it ever opens again

Dear god, this place has gone downhill, big time!!
It's only saving grace is it keeps the.....undesireables away from the decent pubs.

I didnt think much of this place, especially when you've got the Gluepot across the square. It was full of lagered up numpties. Maybe I visited it on a bad night?

Not a bad pub these days. Good selection of ciders, meat raffle on a Sunday,

Used to be a chutney ferrets pub, not sure if it is now.

As expected it doesn't live up to it's past. Rarely busy, limited ale (sometimes), hope the company owners are happy, we're not!

This has always been a friendly pub. A lot of Glue Pot regulars use The Cricketers as well.

The food has always been really good value.

Unfortunately, it will be changing hands on Sunday 27th July, so I think everything is winding down. I like Tony, the existing landlord, I'm not sure I will be visiting it when he's gone.

It's a shame really.

I think I speak for a lot of people when I say Tony will be missed.

Perfectly good, part-modernised, pub with a selection of 4 real ales (including the Brains Rev. James which was very good). Not as good as the Glue Pot, but 10 times better than the Baker's Arms.

Been here a few times. A nice pub, which seems to have taken over from the Glue Pot as the locals' Local. Got the impression that it's not fully found its feet yet, and can develop further, so something good to look forward to there.

This place has seen some changes over the years. In my drinking lifetime it has been, to my knowledge, a bikers pub, an Irish pub, a gay bar, and closed down for quite a while in between.
It's now a PUB. 2 or 3 real ales, nothing fancy but welcome nonetheless, pool table in a seperate room, Sunday raffle and buffet.
Not a bad little pub in Swindon's Railway village.
