I called in on a weekday at about 4pm. It seeemd a typical outer suburban modern pub, nothing special, about 8 people in. No real cider (not that I had expected any, but I'm sometimes pleasantly surprised). Strongbow £3.50/pt. Rather a long wait for service given how quiet it was.

What a dreary pub. They even have fake handpumps to make it look like they sell real ale. I asked for an IPA, only to be served a keg one. When I asked for one from the handpump the barmaid said 'oh no we dont have any beer on handpump' and raised her eyebrows at a nearby customer as if to say 'what a twat this bloke is'. Needless to say I wont be returning.

This sad excuse for a pub has gone down the drain !

New landlord apparently. It's marketed as a "Hungry Horse" after waiting for twenty minutes to be served on a not too busy Sunday afternoon I'm thinking it should be called the "Thirsty Horse". Less than interested bar staff only interested in doing as little as possible and serving their friends at one corner of the bar, which is fine, just don't expect other less than regulars in there again. I expect to see this hole boarded up in February, because that's exactly where it's heading......

Have been in twice recently for a family meal.

Service was very poor on Sunday evening. However, It was busy when we got there, and were told to expect a 45 minute wait. Food took about 50 mins.

When we had finished our meals (and the pub was pretty quiet), we ordered desserts. These took almost half an hour to come. Considering they were ice cream / easy items, this was a bit extreme.

Food itself was good, but just slow service.

DO NOT EAT HERE IT HAS GONE DOWNHILL!!!
Used to come here often but this place has gone down hill and it's a shame. Will not be returning. Food is served in smaller portions and is often not cooked properly and results in food poisoning. They are unable to cater for more than 3 people at a time and while one person gets their food some wait another half hour for theirs!

If you want to be ill then eat here.....otherwise AVOID!!!!!

Been looking round the local pubs and found this one lacking in hospitality. Had to send my steak back as burnt and missing onion rings. Some issues with staff as he manager was shouting in the kitchen not something I want to hear

I have started eating in here every Sunday night after work and it is something my boyfriend and I really look forward to!! I particularly enjoy their scampi (15 pieces) with chips for only 7.50.

This re-opened on 6th November after an extensive refurb (300K apparently!) which includes:

+ Setanta and Sky for sports fans
+ Numerous plasma screens, including 1 outside
+ Pool table and darts board
+ Beer garden with picnic area and crazy golf to keep the kids (and adults?) amused
+ Wi-Fi access for those that wish to do some surfing!

All sounds pretty impressive!! There are various beers, real ales and wines to choose from and some good offers on food too. Having never eaten in a Hungry Horse before, I may give this a try and will review it if/when I do......

For a large pub, not many "Bite" site users seem to be using it...! Last time I went in 'The Oaks' to watch the footy they no longer had Sky TV, and there were more staff in than customers! (The massive restaurant area always seems to be 3/4 empty..!)?
Today I see the place is closed for extensive refurb. This pub has fantastic potential. I hope they do a good job of it.
(England for the RWC'07 ok)! TJ

A good sized pub, with deceptively large restaurant area at the rear, and large bar area at front. Usually shows live sport on the telly. (Can get a bit smokey during live games). TJ
