user reviews of Maze Inn Bar, Oakwood

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Predictably for the Borough of Enfield, this is now flats.
This represents an improvement over the Maze Inn era, but is a shame when one thinks of the late-era Merryhills Pub that preceded that debacle.

Well , no one will be going back now as it's currently being bulldozed to the ground...

Floods of tears....... anyone ??

Wandered in here by accident a few weeks ago. One of the weirdest interiors I've sever seen. Beer was warm, barman was an idiot and the place was nearly empty, which I guess was a bonus given the comments about the locals from previous visitors.

Definitely won't be going back.

Quite easily the most detestable excuse for a bar I've ever had the displeasure to drink in.

Apart from the rude staff right throughout the establishment from the doormen to the bar staff to the sixteen apparent supervisors and managers they have on any one shift pretending they're in the secret service protecting the president, this place, without reservation, has the worst clientele in the history of pubs and bars.

Rude, obnoxious, coked up morons.

Come in here and your friends should immediately seek psychiatric advice on your behalf.

cant help thinking it slightly suspect when someone has been a member of this site nearly a year and has only ever reviewed the one pub,on 3 occasions.Closely connected to this pub possibly ?

Dont "hate" half_tuppence & Alesonly....you both know full well that the bar is strictly over 21's and has a strict smart dress code! I can understand though if you feel intimidated by people that have actually made the effort to dress & smell nicely to go out! You seem to forget it aint a pub anymore, its a bar/restaurant...is it any wonder you must feel out of place if you turn up thinking its a pub??

....anyway while I am here I have to say a big thank you to all the friendly staff there that always give me a warm welcome! Count me in next Wednesday for the new "Singers Night" which will be hosted at Maze Inn in the function room upstairs. I hear many famous singers were founded this way!

This place gets full of self pretentious kids and show offs that think there gods gift to woman. If you can spot someone over 21 on Fri or Sat Evenings I would be very surprised. I think its far to over priced and food is not of a quality that warrants the over inflated Prices charged.

Horrible Pub now full of what appears to be under aged drinkers especially on Fri & Sat nights Sells No Real Ale Only Lager to attract the Kid crowd no doubt. I would say its more a Licenced restaurant than Pub. Don't bother if your over 35 you will look out of place.
Bring back the Old Merry Hills.

Over all this is a good bar/restaurant and the food is excellent, compliments to their chef's. The food & drinks are also resonably priced. Friday's & Saturday's has more of a clubby atmosphere due to the Dj's they have playing, which I must add are both excellent! Sunday is a more chilled night as they have a pianist playing, which is quite romantic should you want to take the Mrs out! Its over 25's so you dont get the drunken louts in there & also has a strict smart dress code, which is nice if your like me & like to make the effort when going out!

They also have private events upstairs in their function room & often host a variety of themed nights, sport events, cocktail parties & singles nights. There is always something interesting happening there, so its definately worth checking out...if not, then check out the hot women that work there at least! 10/10 in my opinion.

New Years Eve at Maze Inn was fantastic! I must say I was very impressed with the bunny girl theme, & im sure all the other guys enjoyed the lovely views too!

Apart from that I really do have to mention what a great organised evening it was! Not over crowded like some evenings.

The buffet was delicious & so much of it during the course of the evening, well done to the chef's, the excellent choice of Champagne we were given, the music just made the evening the dj's had everyone dancing happilly all night so much so no one wanted to leave!

The service was outstanding & the staff were remarkable, well impressed with their team spirit, they could work for me any day! Really recommend it, especially if your local like me.

I went there, didn't like it. Bouncer made us feel welcome but we waited ages for a drink at the bar then gave up. If we were standing at the wrong place they could have said. I'll swerve this one from now. Bouncer said goodbye as well, need more like him.

Oh Shit! Yet another useless North London Muppet who thinks this is a website about food.

F*** Off mirzo, this is about the beer.

Did you actually drink anything other than a bottle of fizzy mineral water & your own self importance?

If you have 90 quid to waste on food, why not do it somewhere else in Oakwood? There must be a Nando's/Harvester somewhere nearby?

I've been there with my wife once and never ever again. The looks and decor is nicely done but the managment deserve zero out of ten. Waitted 45 min for first drinks, 45 min for starters and almost one hour for the main course and it was cold. All the staff are very busy serving the boss and his friends rather than the customers. i've told the manager Robin that we are not satisfied. He turned around and told to waitress give him a glass of water. Where our bill was 90 for two. Nice place but shame on managment. Will never go back.

This place could be a great asset to Oakwood but needs to work harder to maximise it's potential. Beautiful, opulent interior, perfect escapism & nice cocktails too. However, I was disappointed with the attitude of one member of staff manning the door -I've never been back there since.

Visited this Bar in Sunday Night. Fantastic! Did not dine here, but drinks well kept. House red wine above average (and at correct temperature not too cold not too hot). Shame they don't serve nibbles other than nuts though. Piano solo taking place created great atmosphere. People leaving comments coparing this bar to the Merryhills need to move with the times, it is same address but differant place.

Have been to the Maze Inn in Oakwood twice now (on a Thursday and a Friday evening, so not a "quiet" time) since it's refurbishment and have to say I have been thoroughly impressed on both occassions. Food has been excellent (both in terms of quality, speed of servce and price), staff friendly and helpful. Crowd on both occassions I have been there has been a good mix but mainly over-25's (so no drunken teenagers spoiling for a fight!!). Security is discreet but there if required.

Yes the decor is a little showy - but that just adds to the class and charm of the place rather than detracts from it.

Certainly I can't agree at all with the last review and my recommendation would be to give this place a try - you won't be disappointed.

My mates wife booked this place and it all looked like it was going to be very pleasant!!
What a load of old shit!
This place is trying to be a restaurant when it isn't. Fine for all the chavs who just want a beer but to advertise this as a restaurant is wrong. We waited at least an hour for our main and waited in the most rediculously large chairs. They were like something out of Alice in wonder land!!!!
Took us ages to get a drink at the table!
Food turned cold....the waitress was loveley though!
I think the management need to look at how they run this place it's either a bar or a restaurant, not both. STOP BEING SCHITSOPHRENIC!

Not really a gay bar, but perfectly neutral if you are gay.
