Not really surprised this place has closed down. As it is miles from anywhere else in Taunton and looks pretty uninviting.

Closed down again, with a hoarding outside advertising the lease for sale.
Best advice would be to knock it down (before it falls down which it might at any moment)

Closed at 10:30 on a Saturday night but not sure if it has closed down again, or just given up for the night.

I have been past this place a few times and it always appears to be closed so have been unable to assess the most recent owners other than to suppose they ain't (or weren't) much good.

I was hoping one of the more regular reviewers would have verified the change.

Now that the pub is under new management I was quite surprised by the big improvement. Firstly the food is excellent, especially the curries! A dining space is available for lunches, parties etc and the service is great. The beer is well priced with a good selection and the new landlord is providing an excellent service to local trade. Health and safety have also awarded 5 stars for cleanliness. The local village pub is back in business!

Not been in since just after Christmas but it is a really nasty pub catering for down-and-outs, chavs, and other assorted low lifes of Taunton. No ales. Didn't stay as the threatening atmosphere was too unfriendly.

It's going to take a bit more than a lick of paint to transform this miserable hole.
It really does not have anything to offer the serious pub goer. Terrible

Saw it had undergone a repaint - all white now.
Been years since I was in and can only say it was worse than before. Unfriendly.

No ales available. They don't even have pumps, or any codgers anymore.

I drove past here today and saw a rather scuffy chalkboard outside saying that the place was under new "management" and all were welcome, so I popped in for a swift one.
Can't say that I noticed any difference from the previous old management. Just as bad as before.

No. I was wrong. I went past there this afternoon; the lights were on and the doors open.
I guess they just don't keep regular hours.

I saw drinkers in there the other day. I will investigate.

Has this one closed down too?
Went there for a drink today and it was all closed up. Looks like Taunton has lost another pub, although to be honest, in this instance it's no great loss.

I wish I'd taken the advice of luvapint.

drank here twice, the second time to check on my initial feelings. got it wrong the first time. it's even worse. don't just drive by- speed up

The codgers and landlord are friendly and welcoming at this local boozer.
YoYo - 4 Jan 2007 15:12
This is a miserable pub some distance from the town centre (alas not far away enough). A load of codgers in one side, and a load of louts in the other. From the outside it looks as though it might fall down at any moment but alas this is just an illusion. My best advice is to drive on past.
