agreed

i went in on a friday night on an otley run and it was bangin. don't think i'v ever had so much fun in a pub.
the guy who was in charge (im guessing he's the landlordor manager or somthing) was pretty grumpy but kinda funny with it and he was playing really great music the whole time. proper old skool rock and roll and stuff. the pub was pretty full and he literaly had everyone dancin! it was mega.
i went there once about six months ago and it was pretty mingin but it looks really good now.

luv u eldon x

The Eldon has been refurbished! It looks much cleaner and classier inside and out and best of all they have new toilets, so no more bad smells! I've always liked The Eldon but it's been through a rough time over the past three or four years with various managers coming and going. The current Management team, a young man and woman, seem to be on the ball though, and judging by the pub's new look, someone's trusting them with a big investment. They're both pretty friendly (as long as you don't tick them off) and they seem to treat their staff well.

There are a lot of pubs in that part of town, but for me, The Eldon is head and shoulders above the competition. It's cheaper than The Pack Horse, smarter than The Library, cleaner than The Fenton and you'll find better beers there than anywhere else in the area.

I hadn't been in since before Christmas but having just payed it a visit, I'm very impressed, I'll be going back soon!

Keep up the good work.

Newly refurbished. New manager (by the looks of it). New laminated floor. Looks like a re-furb by someone who wants to flip it for a quick profit. Manager was wandering around seemed a nice chap but didn't get chatting to anyone. Beer was satisfactory, sport on screen is pretty much what you ask for so long as there's nothing else on. Overall, I need another viewing. It's not quite the same as it was previously, it's less dingy (which IMO is a bad thing, I like pubs dark) and the satellite reception is a touch dodgy at times.

appaled, visit often for cheap food near college. the place stinks of urine and the staff are awful they talk to customer like they dont matter and food is bland and takes nearly an hour for burger and chips. furious as this happens all the time.

awful pub that stank of urine, we called in last night as it is supposed to have 8 real ales on but 6 were turned around & they only had Tetley's bitter & Abbot Ale, so after questioning the uninterested bar staff about this we left & went next door to the Pack Horse where they served us several excellent glasses of Copper Dragon Golden Pippin.

Another bad experience in here. Walked in and it didn't look too good with all the ale clips turned around, no excuse really. Had an awful pint of some fizzy rubbish and sat down to watch the football. Poor atmosphere, seemed to be the landlord's boyfriend in again, serving himself behind the bar, and then filling up his pint with a can later on. Better walking down the road towards the church to the Bricklayers. Much friendlier.

A nice little pub. Brilliant on a Saturday afternoon to watch the football scores roll in. Usually shows the rugby too which is always a bonus. Always has two or three ales on. The students that do make it into this joint sem to find quite quickly that there is no messing about due to the quite detailed prison history of the boyfriend of a barmaid. The atmospher worsens when he's around.

Dreadful place. Despite being in a Uni area it cost 2.43 for a pint of strongbow.
Food is all rubbish which is why it is cheap. Lots of deep fried stuff, very slow service (45 minutes).
No real ales, staff uninterested in complaints. Lacking in atmosphere.

Ex-Tetley's Festival Ale House, but the quality beers still remain. Good value food, and friendly staff.

A pretty good pub and I had an outstanding pint of Tetley's bitter in here.
But I used to drink here from 1975 to 1979. What a great little boozer it was then. Totally unrecognizable now. In the 70s, they hadn't expanded by buying up next door, nor had they knocked it all through into one big bar. You used to have a fabulous litle public bar where all the old men used to drink; and a comfortable saloon at the back; and the bar was in the middle and served both rooms.
Them were t'days.

Good pub. Wide range of beers and friendly staff. Gets busy at weekends especially when Otley runs are passing through. Broader range of clientele than would expect from location opposite the uni.

Mondays in the early 80`s we used to start off the week in the Pack-up the road- followed by The Eldon & stagger down to Phono`s in the Merrion for the 50p snakebites...The Eldon was then a fairly dour place...since its been doubled in size(by knocking thru next door)its improved as a pub...Good beer, improved seating & a great place to watch the footy...with a good mixture of locals & students....

lovely pub, friendly bar staff, cheap sunday nights and still not too busy

A great pub. Despite being near the uni's it gets a nice mix of locals, students & staff. Good place to watch the footie as every team seems to get its fair share of support. Ales are good, but lager and Guiness are shockingly bad. Sort it out - you're letting the place down (mind you for 1.25 on a Sunday night you can't complain).

This is one of the greatest pubs in Leeds. Great crowd, and Sunday's is 1.25 a pint. Belting!

this is one of the very best pubs in leeds. good mix of locals and students, but the beer is the best thing. cracking pint that makes the uni bar's taste like slurry. great atmosphere for live games (newcastle matches seem to get a big crowd in), and friendly bar staff.

A personal favourite, this pub attracts staff and the more discerning student from the University.

The bar plays host to a number of different, well cared for, hand pull beers, which often includes guest ales. The surroundings look 'youthfully old' - well cared for, with an open fire in the room to the left of the bar. A couple of small screens strangely do not diminish the look and feel.

This pub is part of the Otley Run, so watch out for any ready-to-drop punters on a Friday or Saturday night. They'll be very easy to tip over by now.

Definitely pay this pub a visit if you're in the area. If you're not, it's worth a bit of a walk.
