A week ago it was our yearly visit to the Crown & Anchor. Really good to see a lot of the old staff had returned including our Aussie lady & her Irish boyfriend.

The landlady, Victoria is Russian & doe's an excellent job of running this pub. Once again a good selection of real ales all in good condition. Great food, I had the lobster. Love the views & all the staff were as attentive as last year.

An all round great pub with nooky corners & a wonderful ambience.

Can't wait to go back. It's still a 9 for me.

Back again on our yearly visit. The Crown & Anchor has really pulled it's socks up. I understand from the staff that they had new management take over in March 2014.

Now to the critical part. The staff were really brilliant. They were a mix of antipodean & europeans. I could not fault them one bit. They were genuine in their attention. I know things go around but if the management take as much care with employing their staff in future, I know we shall enjoy our next visit.

Now to the beer, 4 real ales on offer. All clear & chrisp.

Food fantastic, I had the crab salad, £15.00 but you get what you pay for. There were only compliments on our table. Thank you to the young Aussie lady from Sydney & her Irish boyfriend manning the bar. You made our visit very pleasurable.

A well deserved rating of 9

Lovely rambling pub in THE most superb location overlooking the quay and Fishbourne channel. We had food and although expensive was good. Some other customers didn't seem as happy as though. The menu is a bit limited but ok if you like fish and seafood. I was surprised to see Youngs Winter Warmer on the bar which although I admit not having since Youngs brewery shut in 2006 didn't taste a bit like I remember. First pint was well short on the correct measure, second was fine. As the brewing is all done now at Wells brewery with Youngs just a pubco I shouldn't be surprised at the lack of consistency in taste. For interest there was Youngs ordinary, London Gold and Wells Bombadier also on the bar. Great place to go for atmosphere and location. Bet it gets busy in summer.

I was expecting a corporate food place for the yachting crowd, but instead found a proper pub at the end of the road (world) looking over the calm waters of an arm of Chichester Harbour. This place has odd shaped bars and a room off that as well as a decked area for watching time pass by over the water. Youngers beer which had me worried, but no it was grand. had the Golden at £3.59 a pint and well tasty it was too. Food is their own and so no standard corporate menu. Only down side is getting there, one needs wheels and in my case just two. Lovely spot and the staff were great, filled the glass to the brim. It was a lunch time and so everyone was eating apart from me, but service seemed good. Terrific.

Used this pub since I started sailing out of Dell Quay. I dont usually like Youngs but I must say all the beers here are absolutely superb. Food great and IMHO good value too. Can't understand all the negative comments below. Staff really helpful and friendly even when the pubs packed. Atmosphere great - a real 'olde world' pub.

Once or twice a year we visit the Crown & Anchor as it is a convenient watering hole on our circular walk from Bosham.

We have encountered a variety of situations over that period of time. Indifferent beer & food, surly staff & on one occasion we waited 30 mins for our meal as the lady chef had cut the top of her finger off. Lunch was also off though they did offer to make us a sandwich.

So last Sunday it was on our agenda once again. By now we take the pub as we find it, expectations are usual low. On this occasion we were met by very friendly & attentive staff. There were about 3 real ales on offer I had the guest ale which was perfect. The food received mixed reviews from our group but it wasn't too bad. It was served within 10 mins of ordering so full marks there. I don't like to tax the kitchen staff skills too much so I ordered a burger. 'It wasn't cooked all the way through'. Steaks rare, yes, burgers NO. Also the food is probably a little over priced considering the quality but this pub will continue to attract customers just for the fabulous location.

All in all an enjoyable visit, & well done to the staff for making it so. Just for the staff my rating a 7

Lots of queues, lots of deep-fried food and 3.80 a pint. Just buy a 4 pack and sit on the beach. You'll get the same experience and wil save at least a tenner...

Appalling food that is seriously over-priced.

Always a disappointment despite the views.

It's a nice enough pub for a drink, with great views and well kept beer. We had problems when eating here. The food was all microwaved and none came with vegetables. The bill when closely inspected had an extra drink added to it. The staff were rushed and were not particularly attentive. It's a shame as it could be a really great pub.

I last went in here about 30 years ago as a small boy. Popped in on Sunday evening out of curiosity. It seemed a really nice, genuine old pub. Still has all the old wood fittings and separate areas inside. Staff were very friendly. Excellent garden overlooking the harbour

I have just been back to the Crown & Anchor, Chichester after nearly18 mths to find an amazing turn around!
Before the lack of service and customer care and the food was zero.
Now the service was 10 out of 10 along with the food.
A great variety of fish dishes and something for everyone to enjoy!
All the staff were smiling and attentive.
We will be now coming back on a regular basis, at least once a week!
Well done !!!
A 10 out of 10 experience!
Amazing view's 2nd to none!

Attractive old pub right on the harbours edge. Large floor to ceiling windows at the back make the most of the views across the water and theres a small beer garden as well.

Its a good sized pub with several different rooms, wooden flooring and some old beams. They do food all day. Barman seemed pretty useless, managing to get 50% of our order wrong (wrong size drink, wrong flavour packet of crisps).

Beers on offer were Youngs Bitter and London Gold, St. Austells Tribute and Wells Bombadier. The only cider was Strongbow unfortunately.

Recent midday week lunch visit....bar far too small for amount of customers, young bar-staff over-worked until a woman appeared to get things under control. Food was very ordinary, had to wait, and service was poor. This place is trading on a past reputation which it isn't living up to. The situation is not enough to get by with, and there are plenty of other pubs nearby with just as attractive views.

Things seem to be improving. The formerly miserable barmaid who seems to have worked there for years now smiles and engages with the customers, which is refreshing, and the food has improved. It's still disappointing, but better than it was.

This is a wonderfull pub with very clearly very hardworking staff!! It does get tremendously busy and the facilities available in the kitchen and bar are terrible. The staff do their best and 9/10 I have a very very enjoyable time. The pub has been owned by a holding company for a number of years who refused to invest any money into the building and only allowed minimal budgets for staff etc... Now youngs have brought the pub and things are improving, investment is being provided and staff numbers are increasing. It is a very profitable pub and a pleasure to drink and eat in!

A great pub in a fantastic location. On a summer evening with a stunning sunset across the creek there can be few finer places. The food here is good, and they stock a good range of beers, although we were slightly surprised to find Peroni oon tap being sold at 4 a pint, and when we asked why it was so expensive we were told it was because it's a very good beer, and being near Chichester people will pay high prices! So steer clear of the outrageously priced Italian lager and you'll have a cracking visit!

It's all very well saying sit back and enjoy the location, but when the pub is trading on it's location and being rubbish in the service and cleanliness department...
My tiny hot chocolate was not hot and cost 2.00. The staff were unsmiling and ungracious, it took a long time to get served, and I overheard several complaints about the food being cold.
Yes, the location is stunning, but this pub could be so, so much better then it actually is.

I live in London and this is by some way - my favorite pub in all the world i think the location is superb and the food/drink and staff are 100% quality.

I'm a fan of the Crown and Anchor. It is a stunning location, and the beer's well kept. The bar staff are generally extremely friendly, but it does get ridiculously busy on summer weekends, so it's not surprising that sometimes the service gets a bit haphazard. For goodness sake, sit back, enjoy the beer and the view and chill out. It's a waterside pub, not a McDonalds!

Great location... great outside space, but this pub is sadly let down by inefficient, inexperienced staff and seemingly no management whatsoever. It's not unusual to have to queue for ten minutes for a drink. Tables are sticky and dirty (inside and out). We have eaten here before, but the general 'don't care' ambience discourages that. Compared to other great well-run pubs in the area, this is such a waste - they must be losing money hand over fist! I'd like to know who actually owns the pub and why they're not taking action.
