user reviews of the Appletree Inn, Redlynch

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

This pub has been closed since a fire in 2003 destroyed most of the building. The locals have fought off a number of attempts to have the site redeveloped for housing and are looking to rebuild it themselves.

Absolutely agree with the previous reviewer. Local knowledge says that 3 offers at and above the asking price were refused. Planning permission is as a pub only.

I heard that at the last hearing the application for demolition and housing has been rejected and that the property has to be rebuilt as a pub. There is hope yet for a village that once had 5 pubs and now has only 2.

The scuttle-butt in the area on this matter, even if only half true, should warrant a full investigation into the fire and subsequent destruction of the remaining structure.

This Pub recently burnt down. However I believe there are plans to rebuild.

Sorry to keep harping on about this but once again, another pub more interested in those eating than those drinking. A few hardy locals were perched at the bar (as was I) not daring to brave the wrath of the staff by sitting at the pristine dining tables.
