I think this is the place I visited as a Sports Bar and Grill and as such places goe, it's probably better than you would expect, especially compared to those unlamented chains of British pubbery, Sloe and Reef. 3 ales were on, including Brakspear and the food was American style. We kept half an eye on Borussia Moenchengladback versus Bayern Munich on the telly. No great shakes but it could be worse.

Not a great spot to go for a drink or bite after getting a train. The service is disappointing and the beer is not great, although there was Pride on tap at least. Ok for a view across Waterloo station but the food really was tasteless and just about edible.

This is now known as Sloe and is a suitable place for watching out for train times from the roof top view! Only 1 ale in Pride i think they wanna sell you wine and stuff more.

Its getting a new name and refurbishment now. Closed for time-being.

As railway station pubss go this is one of the better ones. Nice bright and open - good balcony overlooking the concourse. Beers are ok and not too pricey. If you just need somewhere to kill time waiting for a train - or an easy to find meeting place, this is ideal.

An obvious meeting spot at Waterloo, can't see the appeal of going in though.

Does what it says on the tin. At least they have Pride on normally. Best is to sit on the balcony so you can see your train come up. Although I did once manage to miss two trains by leaving too late until I went down to the platform. OK, can't rate this place too highly but it will always have a special place for me after I somehow managed to take a young hottie I had directed to the right line at Warren Street in here for a glass of wine. Spent a very pleasant 20 minutes observing parts of her pert young body.

I go here quite a bit when I'm meeting people and I think it's ok for what it is but you're not going to base an evening out on it. It's quite good when the rugby is on at Twickenham as all the fans tend to congregate here. The service isn't bad, efficient(ish) rather than friendly and the food and beer are ok. Can't really expect much more than that from a beer shop.

visited this pub on the way home one evening was a wednesday if memory serves , about 6pm , was busy but what did i expect , got served quick and the beer was a good quality , didnt really hang around as had the missus on the phone wondering where i was , but it is a typical station bar serves beer what more can you ask for

I do frequently go to this pub for a quick drink before heading back home and must admit that it did make big changes since the new manager, David took over. I did order food on several occasions and was eating my late lunch in 10 mins good service at the bar compare to what I had before. Yeah I do know that it is ridiculous that you need a code to go to the loo although must admit that I did enquire about this and got a satisfactory explanation. Around the station you do tend to get any random people that do go in just to use the loo. Having a code ensure that just customers use the toilets. Just one dissappointment regarding this place. I do see the difference in service dependin who is serving me. Did receive an awful service on a couple of occasions by one of the managers, managed to get her name after peeking at her badge as she refuse to give me her name, suggesting that she knows she is on the wrong. Ivonna, beware she does not go a clue what a smile is and does nt know that customer service and efficiency exist in this world. Sorry for her collegues as she seem to put the efforts of the others down.

Souless - Abandon hope all ye who enter !

Gets a rating of 1 as it did contain beer !

NOOOOOOOOOO Do not go here, ever! Just wanted to agree with everyone else, would never normally post things on sites but for this place will make an exception.

Went here with a friend last night as desperate for a drink and somewhere to sit. A dodgy, dodgy man tried to chat us up by telling us he was there 'making a film', the food sucked, beer very average and just before we left a girl on the next table had her bag nicked. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

I seem to be spending more and more time here on the way home (thanks SWT!) and have to admit it's growing on me... It's handy being able to see or hear train delays from the balcony, and the inside isn't really _too_ bad. Service can be slow, and the beer isn't great but hey, you wouldn't come here for a night out... would you...?
kingston_toon - 10 Sep 2006 16:44
I don't know what everyone's moaning about, it's a great place!

Nah, just kidding. It's pants.

It's so bad I needed a soul transfusion after visiting. I felt like I was fading out of existence.

Horrible place.
Also what's up with needing to use your receipt to use the toilet? It's very confusing.

The manager needs to get too know his products before he trys to sell them,And to run a bar like that he needs to get rid of the attitude. My wife and i will not be back, thank got waterloo has other bars on the station..............

After visiting reef in Victoria station i decided to check out Reef Bar in Waterloo (what a mistake). The bar staff were too busy talking amongst themselves encouraged by the bar manager who was entertaining his friends. Oblivious to his staffs antics. Didnt buy a drink first impressions last so avoid at all costs.

GRIM GRIM GRIM. Really really really bad and expensive too! Avoid.

This bar is the pits!

Hot, sweaty and thats just the fat men waiting at the bar!

Two minutes in there and your the same!

And then when you go to the loo, lo and behold you need a code!

Good bye sharpish!

pubcustomer - 23 Aug 2005 19:27
It's an awful place alright. Stupid and rude staff. Ghastly pints that are never full. And those poor, poor fish. But I did one pull a beautiful girl - half Welsh, half Ethiopian - there. So I'm going to have to give it a rating of 10.
anonymous - 24 Jun 2005 14:38
God what is it with Waterloo? Like Coopers downstairs this is a pustule on the armpit of satan. It's filthy, the staff are rude, it's crowded with fat middle aged men who can't bear to go home to their miserable lives, the drinks are rubbish.. the only thing going for it is that there's a loo you can use if on the way home from somewhere far, far better (which would be anywhere else in the known universe, excluding the aforementioned Coopers and of course Essex).
MrLash - 21 Dec 2004 10:58
Bad service, beer tastes somehow iffy. But if your missus needs to hear sounds of the train station during the "honest, I'm on my way home" check in chat, it's OK for a swift couple before your train is "delayed and I don't know why"...
MonkeyMatt - 20 Dec 2004 23:17
Miserable over-crowded over priced zero atmosphere repli-bar. Staff make Simon Cowell look charming, and conversations on the balcony are continually drowned out by details of the delays on the Weybridge service. Get a cold Stella from the Offies and relax on a platform instead.
anonymous - 29 Jul 2004 22:42
Boring over priced station shop that is failing to be an up market bar.
Rob - 22 Jul 2004 13:51
Meet some suburban mates here Saturday for a couple before a drink-up (Namco Station - the shame!).

"Who's waiting?" asked one bod behind the bar.
"Me" says I
"Come you come over here please?" he asks.
"I have to come to you?" I ask a bit stroppily.

And I'm sure all those fish can't be happy stuck in a station boozer.

MrScott - 14 Jun 2004 10:42
don't get caught out hoping to get a late drink as I did last night - the bar had stopped serving at least 4 minutes early.
chris - 20 Apr 2004 16:25
Great place to meet up if you fancy a quick drink after work, if you ignore the train announcements if you sit on the balcony.
Briony - 22 Jul 2003 12:47
I used to work here. The atmosphere is electric, really positive. It can also be a relaxing place to chill. Top place for a quiet coffee or a wild Friday night.
Lorna Makhno - 9 Jul 2003 23:53
Good buzz. very Busy Friday night. Get there early if you want a seat. Service friendly.
