Along with the Horse & Jockey and the Star one of the three dependable pubs in the village

Meant to say thanks for giving me the best ratings of all the pubs in Penk! Much appreciated!

I was Manager and Licensee of The White Hart from January 2006 until 2nd December 2011! I had an amazing time at the helm of the pub, as it was the building I admired from the outside as a young girl before I even knew it was a pub! I loved welcoming customers old and new throughout my 'reign' there! I was just reading the comments from various people who have used the pub and taken the time themselves to make comments and just wanted to say a huge thank you x

The frontage was returned to it's original Tudor look in the late 19th century. The lounge has a perfect warm friendly traditional pub feel. In comparison the bar is slightly disappointing in that the theme doesn't really carry over and it's more focused around the sport on the telly.

The menu is limited with only roasts being served on a Sunday, but still very pleasant and reasonably priced.

Drinks wise this used to be one of the cheaper pubs in the village but the prices have crept up over the last year or so making it much more expensive than similar pubs in Stafford.

Bar staff and clientele are pleasant.

The exterior shows a brick and timber building in mock-Yudor style, dating from the last century, built on the site of a former inn, so it is claimed. The pub has a beer patio area, where a concrete bridge runs over a Penk tribuary (or canal feeder). I sat here in the sun, in the quiet and have to say, loved it. The service was friendly.

The interior has two rooms. The bar has TV, where the regualrs and the racing channel win the day. The lounge has a great fireplace as its focal point, with old pictures of Penkridge as memorabilia and relaxing and not obtrusive music. The rooms were a little twee, but then they sell the place on the historic theme and i have seen it done far worse. All was clean that i saw.

The beer was the usual stuff, with handpull Everade's Tiger, Old Spekky and Banks's bitter. The Banks's MILD was electronic cask and tasted great.

I enjoyed this place, but then a lot of places in Penkridge are good to very good pubs

Watched the second half of an England match here recently and wished we'd come here first! Small bar with curtains drawn didn't look very welcoming but once inside we were accepted and offered the traditional Midlands pub fayre - a tray of pork pie slices! The phrase 'pub full of characters' was designed for places like this. Quality.
