A favourite eating place, always good food at reasonable price and with quick service. Never had a bad experience in numerous visits.
Looks like a good place as a local for a few evening drinks, although unfortunately I'm not local enough!

Simply stunning, lovely place, friendly staff, great quality value for money food & a 4* food hygiene rating to boot.
I will be back for sure.

been refurbished since we last visited and it looks really good, still the same manager and staff and they were as friendly as ever. its now got a great al fresco dining area which looks nice and will be heavily used in the summer. food is very good and we had 2 meals for only 8.95 which were really good value. definitely be returning soon

I would not advise going here for a meal.
Medium Rump steak not slightly pink or even red but actually uncooked, you knoww the dark red slightly jelly like look.

As I was waiting for my replacement I thought that did not look like a rump cut, my partner's steak was more rare than medium but OK , not, still did not look or taste quite right.

Replacement came and it looked like a cheap thin frying steak, I asked the waitress to stay even with the steak knife the chef left me it was hard to cut , it was overcooked, fatty and the chips were twice its thickness.

I did get a refund but that was a ruined evening out. IMHO the "chef" was put out so he picked the worst piece of meat and override it. I suspect the steak knife was his joke , the normal cutlery was plain knives.

The bar manager made some excuse about they could not tell how they would cook and it may have been a bad batch. Well a chef could tell by looking if the steak was and any experience would allow him to grill a piece of meat. I asked if he was a chef shejust replied has been here a year, after a year cooking steaks would think he could get it right at least 1 in 2 tries.

Poor meal, chef having a laugh, even poorer excuses.

We were there in July 2009 (sorry so late in posting!) We loved the food and the Greene King Abbotts ale. Very impressed with quality and service then. Liked the bar deco (comfy and trad) The tennis finals were on and we could watch while eating in comfort............perfect!
Returned a couple of times for drinks and sat in garden, again, perfect.
Would love to go again if in that area.

Management seem to have abanoned ship here as you never see them....although the staff seem to cope with running the place so maybe thats why....

regulars rewards mean lots of cheap pints between 5-7pm but unfortunately means the barstools are all packed out with peasants that think they should not have to move so you can reach your served pints!!!!

we are now taking to going in after 8pm...that way all the cheap beer purchasers have usually left and standard of politeness around the bar tends to improve!

Had a good meal and a couple of pints at a reasonable price. Went in early to avoid the rush.

Having visited several times over the last couple of years; can be summarised as follows:-

Excellent value 'pub grub', good size portions, friendly staff, quick service. Can get very busy so best phone ahead on fridays and weekends.

Main gripe about this chain-style pub was the waiting times to be served.
A far from busy Sunday evening, but with only two staff running the bar and restaurant, my party endured two fifteen minute waits to order drinks.
No criticism of staff, as they were performing heroics. But no sign whatsoever of management front of house.
Greene King beers prominent, plus a font dispensing frothy chilled Ruddles, which kills the taste of a very decent beer. In addition to the big industrial brands, there was at least some local beer in the shape of Ringwood.

This is an excellent eatery, decor not the best in the world but food is good and very well priced. Staff are always very helpful and polite. Menu gets a bit boring if you eat there a lot.

Used to eat here quite a bit but prices have risen, portions and choice have decreased. Best pub around for musical entertainment on a Friday night

sunday lunch for 9 today - food really good and great value for money. Large portions enjoyed by all. I had a tasty chicken korma followed by good apple pie. Beer was good as well. Service a bit slow but the staff were friendly and it was worth the wait. The pool table looks good - nice condition in its own little room.

Used to drink here in the 1990's and hadn't been in for about 10 years. Jenny and Rob remembered me and my mate and we had a good natter about old times. The pub is still fantastic and retains a superb atmosphere. Food cheap but good and beer in good condition, Highly recommended!

It has been recently refurbished, looked really good, we also couldnt beleieve how cheap the food was!! It was really busy with a fantastic atmosphere..They now stock Green King beers which was a fantastic bonus. The staff where friendly, definitley my new local. One to try.

Cavernous place and made to seem all the more so by a marked absence of punters. Don't know why it should be so devoid of people as those few who were there seemed alright and the beer was reasonable. Perhaps it's a location problem
