My correction on the last entry. A check with the website reveals that it ain't open Mon-Thurs lunchtimes. Phew; I was worried it had closed. Nowhere for a decent pint around there then - unless you wander down the hill to the Eldon or Hope and Anchor (and then I'd have had to walk back up it).

Popped in for a swifty to get over a mild hangover but it was closed. Not open for business on a Tuesday lunchtime. One is worried it has gone.

A really nice little tucked away pub.
food was good.
Ale choice was a little uninspiring, and I have to say on this visit my wickwar bob was a bit below par.

This was once a lunchtime regular of mine during 1995-'96, when it was an unexceptional but comfortable and convenient Ushers house. The licensee left, and after a few false starts following Ushers' demise proper, the pub eventually closed and like so many its future appeared uncertain.
I had heard a worthy owner had stepped in and had rejuvenated the place in 2009, and I made it my business to come back to the Quinton after what must be a 12-year hiatus at least - and I was thrilled by what I found! One learns to expect less of pub re-openings to avoid yet further disappointment when they fail, but in this instance it does seem the right chap is at the helm, for the Quinton is now a thriving, cosy, well-decorated and engaging local, which I'm sure we had more of its like in over-blown Clifton Village. The traditional character has essentially been retained - no disharmonious contemporary makeovers here - yet there is a subtle modern twist by the introduction of cleverly-selected artwork, and revitalisation of the beautiful stained glass windows and fireplace. Seating is just as comfy as it always was and it is close-quarters enough to encourage light-hearted interaction between the friendly locals and visitors.
The bar area hosts four cask offerings; most were not uncommon but the Brain's Rev James which I sampled on the day was in excellent nick. The emphasis seems to be on wet sales not food, and the owner clearly has shown that there was always demand for a place of this ilk - no longer is that demand being ignored.
Leave your Clifton pubs, leave your Berkeleys, leave your Whiteladies nonsense and come here instead. If you appreciate the features outlined herein you shan't leave disappointed. Good luck folks; fortune favours the brave.

First visit since the refurb and this pub goes straight into my list of Bristol favourites. Warm and cosy on a vile afternoon, sausage rolls and breadsticks on the bar, comfy seats and good atmosphere. Beer in perfect condition, although points are lost for the unimaginative selection. I hope this place does well.

Beatles said it all about Mr Tanner (landlord of the so called pub/private club called the Victoria Clifton for those who don't know) slagging off potential punters. Save that for your own customers mate. The landlord here is well capable of running a pub and doesn't need your "support".

Anyway back to the point, the Doombar I've had here on each occasion has been impeccable and good value. The welcome from Patrick and staff has been good. Agree about the range, after years of only Best and Bass down in the Artichoke I thought Pat would have grasped the nettle of being free of tie a bit more. But the beer on is faultless, and the pub is excellent. Very good show sir.

Great to see this pub re-opened again. Its certainly got a bit of a different look now, not your traditional pub but more of a wine bar with plenty of pine wooden flooring, gastro-pub green paint and lots of leather covered stools. Its quite effective though, and a pleasant environment with friendly staff.
Good choice of ciders on tap, namely Stowford Press, Thatchers Heritage and Old Rascal. Also three beers, although as other have said a slightly less inspiring choice Doom Bar, London Pride and Courage Best plus a couple of unusual lagers.

Another pub saved...just waiting to be slagged off by an annonymous would be critic. The trade is seeing hard times with the "credit crunch" "cheap supermarket booze" "excessive beer tax" oh, I nearly forgot, people who literally take things at face value without getting their facts right and are all to quick to get down and dirty on publicans and their staff on internet sites. Maybe this will be the ultimate downfall for the real ale trade and not mr darling (note the lower case) .Thank goodness for people like Patrick for taking on this venture during these hard times, I for one wish him well and know he will do an exceptionally good job. He, like all publicans who face so many hazards during each day, deserve a great "PAT" on the back.
Goodluck Quinton House.

Named after me, so must be good.

And it wasn't too bad when I got taken there as a comedy surprise over Christmas.

Couple of ales on in decent nick, and check out the 80's retro Pepsi pump. Atmosphere inside good.

Worth checking out if in Clifton to visit your token Bristol Uni student friend.

Small, friendly, local pub. Good beer (Abbot seems to be a regular), and normally quiet, although they do turn up Sky Sports when there's a match on.
