Now a Sainsbury's local. NO LONGER A PUB
carstenp - 12 Oct 2011 17:39
Re-opended in late 2008 as "The Crescent" - an upmarket champagne bar and VIP Club.
distinguished_barfly - 11 May 2009 11:48
Now all boarded up, and apparently closed...

I really like this pub. A bit scary from the outside but not bad at all inside...yea there's a mix of people but that's half the fun. Depends what you're after, kind of has a social club like feel-generally friendly staff, decent pool table, sports TV's. I reckon good for a day time drink, maybe not a full eve...Not a bad place to start the pub crawl though before winding your way to Hammersmith or Fulham!

This pub is full of people who grew up on estates (both types, the 5000 acres in Berkshire type, and the council type). The middle classes go down the road to the Cumberland. Great fun pub with lively Aussie tottie behind the bar.
davebrooky - 16 Jun 2006 14:17
Despite the focus on sport, its a pretty average pub - at times it has seemed a favourite amongst a few locals that start at 9 in the morning, the kitchen either seems to be out of order, or preferably that way. Standard lagers on tap with a few bottles of standard aussie export for the bar staff. Its got a pool table though. Apparently there is a club type thing that kicks off upstairs - good knife fights up there?
CSIdrinker - 4 May 2006 15:58
I used to live quite near this pub and hardly ever went in. It didn't appeal and still doesn't: lots of TV screens, no decent beer, and with the (then) newly-refurbished Cumberland just up the road there was no reason to go there.
beeronaut - 4 Apr 2006 15:46
Not alot of atmosphere in this pub. I prefer the Three Kings for sport, moron with the microphone notwithstanding.
ReneArtois - 14 Feb 2006 15:28
2 visits to this boozer in the past fortnight...best pub in the area for watching major sporting events (unless you enjoy your match commentary provided by a moron with a microphone - rather than the BBC / Sky experts). Unfortunately, no draught beer, clinical decor and the occasional unpleasant customer leave little to recommend this pub for a non-sporting session. Could do better...

Over commercialised shite hole.A breeding ground for sports mad thugs who like nothing more than to behave threatening to those that they feel dont fit in. It gets full of the worst kind of estate trash you could imagine. If your in the area,do yourself a favour and walk 250 yards up the road to The Cumberland.
Mr.Raffles - 18 Nov 2005 19:54
Why this pub is liked by people is beyond me.Crap ale, boozed up estate types, lousy karaoke.Another crap bar in a sea of shite boozers.0/10
smokie - 10 Aug 2005 17:06
Good pub for watching rugby in (for footie head to the 3 Kings), good jukebox, decent food. Late licence on the weekends, which is nice.
BobsHarmonica - 2 Aug 2005 14:19
The best pub in West London for watching Sport without a shadow of a doubt. Watched England V France here in the Summer of 2003 and it was fantastic. It's not often that you can get French and English fans watching their respective teams without it turning into a bloodbath.

Nothing but respect for this pub.

I've been to watch a few bands here too, it's an allround great pub. 9/10
CheekyShepherd - 29 Mar 2005 16:11
Bloody great for watching sport, watched the 6 Nations final there on Saturday, heaps of TVs and screens. Much better than the 3 Kings, they can keep that annoying fu*cker on the microphone......
Speights - 21 Mar 2005 16:27
Great pub to watch the rugby in. Large screens. I have found it difficult to find pubs that show the range of games that the Fox shows. Food not great, but then again it doesn't pretend to be a gastropub - burgers and chips basically! I found the staff to be very friendly, but I probably wouldn't go out of my way to go there unless there was a game I wanted to watch

The poxiest place I've ever been. Why?
- The barman was rude and condescending to my girlfriend when she complained about a glass of corked wine. This fool said it wasnt corked and he didnt need to taste it to check because as a professional barman he could tell by sight that it wasnt corked. If hes such a wine expert that he can tell this just by looking, I wonder what hes doing working in cr*ppy sports bar where even the uncorked wine tastes like paraffin, p*ss and sweat.
- Five of us ordered food but only two meals arrived. The burgers were revolting and the chips were stone cold. They may have a wine expert behind the bar, but I doubt they have more than a microwave in the kitchen.
- After an hour waiting, I went to bar to complain about the three missing meals and saw a whole pile of plated food going cold because there wasnt enough staff to deliver it to tables. After 10 minutes queuing, I got to speak to a barmaid who offered to reheat some of the meals behind the bar. I went for a refund instead.

The Fox is an appalling place and I'm never going back.

The truly truly terrible bar staff at this pub are something else. Awful food, which is often forgotten or not quite what you ordered. Empty and souless atmosphere at lunches and early evening, having eaten here, I now know why.
James - 18 Mar 2004 14:21
Awful awful pub that has been stripped of all atmosphere and now has televisions on every wall and a brand new 'trendy' feel to it.
Poor food, indifferent service. I'm at a loss as to why people like this place.
Ian - 22 Dec 2003 21:49
I was in the area and looking for somewhere I could watch the Chelsea 1 - 0 Man Utd game. I came across this site and reading the user comments 'The Fox' appeared to be what I was looking for. As it turns out the staff were friendly and the food - Chicken & Bacon Burger'n'Chips - very tasty. It had a wheelchair accessible loo too, which is always always a plus if you use a wheelchair and drink pints...
Stuart - 3 Dec 2003 10:37
Where you there?

Did you see the game?

New Zealand v Australia, that was a game. I met a group that use the pub they said the party goes on in the evening so will you back I said if Im still standing.
I made it & I hade a night to remember she was fine. The pub was rocking then it turned 12 lights went on & the girls said up coming upstairs. I thought my lucks in so I said yes, & followed them up stairs
To my amassment I found a club yes a live music club the sound rocks, the bands are plenty, the girl start to dance so I asked @ the bar how long have the club been here Australia bar girl said for as long as I can remember, what ya drinking.
Its open till 1:00 am youve got to check it out
p.s hay girls thank you for the bed ??
see you soon vikky

Tonight I was reminiscing about my travels over 20yrs ago. This pub certainly used to be very Australiana. One of the best pubs for overseas visitors to attend or have the priviledge to work there like myself. Sounds like a few changes but still the friendly place it used to be and yes the great food obviously lives on. A short splash from Ausie land!

this pub makes me feel a had a good night the people i meet are so friendly that i would like more people to see

the sports line up is from football, rugby from around the world, the nights are so much fun see you all there
f.x - 28 Jul 2003 02:24
i found the staff to be particularly unhelpful to female customers. it was clear that male customers were preferred especially by the duty manageress at the time who was quite content to have her own private conversation with male friends while female customers were left unserved. not a place for the single woman.
s.peel - 30 Jun 2003 17:10
Don't really like this pub, TVs on every wall - why? Lacks any discernable atmosphere, doesn't have the 'cosiness' required to be a nice boozer. Alright for watching sport I guess, but why oh why don't they turn the TVs off when it's not on?
Nigel Worthington - [email protected] - 17 Jun 2003 12:52
